How to unlock the Superior State of Mind achievement in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift - Definitive Guide

With the arrival of the new patch (1.03/ Continuum Shift 2) you may have noticed that a couple of challenges on each character have changed.

If you go into the options menu, then system options, then change the system version to 1.00, 1.01 or 1.02 you can go back and do the challenges that have changed as well as trying the new 1.03 ones. Effectively you have 2 sets of challenges to work with. So if you get for example Noel's challenges 5 on 1.00-1.02 it will say you've completed it on 1.03 even though her 1.03 challenge is different to the previous versions.

Also this can also help if you are going for the DLC Character achievements as you have 2 sets of challenges to work with.

One more side note, if your on 1.00-1.02 the DLC Characters challenges still count towards the total. I can verify this as I unlocked the achievement on 1.02 using Valkenhayn.

Hopefully this makes things easier for some people.

(Apology for the bad quality firstly)
This achievement is alot harder than I initially thought. First you need to decide who you are good at and what character you hate. (For me I love Ragna and hate Carl) Then complete at least the first 3 challenges with every character. This is relatively easy considering its just special attacks and not really combos. Then pick you favorite character and start working on their combos. Something else that's important; A. You need at least 75 challenges completed to unlock a picture which is required for another achievement and B. DLC characters count towards the total even though it doesn't sat so in the percentage. Finally use the below tip when some of the challenges star getting a little difficult.

My friend showed me an easy way of completing some of the harder challenges like Ragna # 6 for example. When you go to input the button combination for the combo pause the game for a second. Then just as you unpause (or while unpausing if possible) put the required button combination in and then pause again. You should be paused right after you do the desired part of the combo which makes it much easier for you to do the next part. Rinse and repeat till you complete the challenge. If you need to reset the positions press Back and when first starting change the text given combo to a button combo so it's easier to recognize. Finally have patience, this achievement is frustratingly difficult and there is a reason its worth 103 TA score. Hope this helps :)

Also to note, though the achievement says more than 100 challenges, it will unlock after completing number 100.

"DLC characters count towards the total even though it doesn't sat so in the percentage." Oh man, am I happy to hear this. I was pretty sure I'd never hit 100 without help from the DLC toons. D:

There are 10 challenges per character and 15 characters (and 3 DLC characters) in the game, which mean you can complete 100/150 (180 with DLC) possible challenges. Keep in mind, though, the challenges are still hard regardless and require a lot of time and patience. Please refer to this thread for specific challenges you may be having trouble on: Challenge Mode Help Thread

Tips:

  • If you are having trouble with one challenge and you find yourself stuck on it for too long, skip it and try another one

  • Switch between the analog stick and the dpad mid combo. Some movements might be easier for you on one pad than the other

  • Remember to look at the sample play by pressing so you can visually see how the combo looks

  • Remember you can switch between the names of the moves and the actual button inputs by pressing

  • Practice the move by pausing in between each frame until you can do it in real time

Blazblue Continuum Shift II Balance Patch Note:

There has been a "balance patch" to the game since release (available if you loaded the game sometime after May 2011) which has changed the way some characters play and other technicalities that is easy for fighting game fanatics to tell the difference between. With this balance patch challenge mode missions (usually just 5-10) have changed because of the patch however that doesnt mean your progress goes away or does it mean you can never play the challenges pre-balance patch ever again. If you ever feel that you just can't do the challenges for the BBCSII patch and wish to switch to BBCS pre-balance patch or vice versa here is what you can do; Go into your "Options" and select "System Options" there you will have the option to switch between System Versions:

  • Blazblue Continuum Shift II Balance Patch: Ver.1.03 (Latest)
  • Pre-BBCSII Balance Patch: Ver.1.02
