How to unlock the The Better Part of Valor achievement in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift - Definitive Guide

Achievement can be done in any mode aside from Training, but is done easiest in Versus mode provided you have two controllers. Doesn't matter which character you use. (I used Ragna and fought Hazama, if it matters.)

To get this as fast as possible, go to the Options menu and make sure your settings look like this:

Number of Round (Versus): 2 round
Time Limit (Versus): 60 Seconds

Exit the Options menu, go to Versus mode with two players playing. Choose whatever characters you like. Start the match, beat your opponent down to where you have more health than him.

As soon as that's done, while still making sure you have more than 20 seconds on the clock, start walking backwards and having your opponent walk towards you. (If you hit the end of the screen, quickly jump over your opponent and keep walking backwards, and have him walk toward you again.) Your character will have red lines surrounding them and a message saying "Negative Warning" will appear. You are now in Negative State.

Make sure you're in this state for at least 20 seconds. You have the option of either killing off your opponent when 20 seconds pass on the clock, or letting the time run out. For me, the achievement would not pop when I killed my opponent, even after waiting well over 20 seconds. When I tried winning by letting the rest of my time run out, the achievement popped on my first try, so I definitely recommend that method.

Not a difficult achievement to get, just a little glitchy. Just make sure you have your match set to more than one round, or the achievement won't pop.

Happy hunting. :)

You are spot on here, I did it once by killing the opponent after waiting 20 seconds and nothing popped, did a rematch and just waited out the time and it popped first time. Thanks man!

This is easily done in Versus mode with two controllers.

You can pick whatever characters you like, just make sure it is set to more than one round.

When the match starts hit the opponent a couple of times then continuously jump backwards while the other character follows until the "Negative Penalty" message appears on the screen and your character is surrounded by a red glow. Then simply let time run out or defeat the opponent after 20 seconds has passed.

This trophy description is a bit misleading. First and foremost, set your timer to either 60 seconds or even 45 and one round. Then, start up a match with a second controller choosing whichever characters you like. Hit the opponent once with your primary, and then back away from the foe while walking towards your main with the second. Once you hit the wall, jump over the second controller and keep backing up. After a while, you'll enter the "Negative State", you can tell when you're surrounded by a red aura.

After you earn the Negative State, keep moving away from the foe. You'll have to make sure you don't back up against the wall for too long, or you'll lose it. Simply maintain the negative state until the time runs out and you win. Many say you can beat the foe after the 20 seconds however I had no such luck earning the trophy this way.

For this you can not win just the match; it has to be the round. Before going into Versus mode set your options to the following settings:

Rounds to win : 2
Timer: 45

Weaken the opponent and then start moving backwards and have the opponent slowly follow, this will trigger the negative state. Afterwards, just keep both characters there until the round times out.

To get this trophy you can win the match, it must be a round. Before starting the game, set the following settings:

- 2 rounds to win

- time - 45

Weaken your opponent and then begin to slowly move back. The enemy will gradually follow you and this will make him angry. After that, you need to hold out until the end of the round and win it. Try to time everything exactly so that the 20 seconds expire almost at the same time as the end of the round.

It is enough to set the round to 30 or 45 seconds. It's easier to do with a friend. Quickly move your friend towards the wall. Take 1 quick hit. Then step back. The enemy must jerk (back and forth) to catch up with you. This will give you a negative effect. Now all that remains is to simply move away from the enemy until the end of the match, and he should follow you. As soon as you hit a wall, jump over the enemy and continue on until the other wall, and so on until the end of time. Be careful, you must spend more than 20 seconds in a negative state and win the match in it.
