How to unlock the Living legend? achievement in Blur - Definitive Guide

In order to get this achievement you will need to reach Rank 50 which requires 890,000 fans:-

Tips

The extra fan mods are probably not worth it, they will cost you more in terms of wrecks and therefore fans for your finishing position than they will earn you. I found that the ideal combination was:-

1. Front runner (which gives you a nitro for every lap you finish)

2. Shielding efficiency (which strengthens your shield and therefore reduces the risk of being wrecked)

3. Mastermine or ECM - mastermine splits mines into small pieces by passing close which is good for attacking points / ECM makes shunts much easier to dodge and is a really good defensive option.

The challenges are a must to ensure speedy progress to Rank 50. The daily challenges become available from Rank 13 and are potentially worth about 20k fans per day, this is based on being able to snag about half of these in a 3 hour seesion.

Some challenges are easier on motormash and others in races, have at least one specific challenge in mind when you attempt any event so that you will pick these up as you go along.

Key things I wish I'd known before becoming a legend:-

1. You do not have to actually become a legend to unlock this. Achieving Rank 50 is enough.

2. If you do become a Legend you will lose all of your unlocked cars, mods and challenge progress, although you will be a special legendary D class ACS1 Coupe which isn't that helpful.

3. If you have not completed the challenger achievement, you should do this before you become a legend, otherwise you will have to start again from scratch.

4. If you are planning on just racing for the hell of it once you have got the achievement I would strongly recommend passing up the opportunity to become a legend and remain at Rank 50 - as you will have all of the cars and mods and won't have to suffer the indignity of finishing towards the back of the back in the poorer cars once you have been reset.

Once you complete most of your Daily challenges that are easily done, I suggest doing the rest of your session on Hardcore, as the finish bonuses tend to be higher overall than your total fans for other game modes. This only really applies after you complete most of the non-Daily challenges as well.

played for 5 hours last night and went from a 35 to a 40. Seems like it's about an hour a level, depending on your challenges.

Just a question: if you choose to prestige after reaching rank 50, what exactly gets reset? Is it just challenges, or are the stickers pertaining to online stuff affected as well. I'm just curious because I have suffered the reset and I am trying to form a plan of attack.

No one has yet to post a reliable method for quickly boosting fans. So here's the method I came up with and am currently using. I like it because it's easy and fun.

Get a boosting party of 4 people. You will be playing in the motor mash event, so at least 4 is required and I wouldn't go with anymore considering the added time required.

The session host should invite everyone into their game lobby (this can be done through the main multiplayer menu before selecting an event by selecting "invite" and then inviting the XBOX Live chat party to the game). Once everyone is in play the Motor Mash event.

Everyone takes a turn at wrecking the other boosters for an entire game. This person will usually get above 2600 fans per match (I got 12,000 fans in one match because of a ton of challenge completions). Focus on wrecking your rival for more fans, but don't neglect the other cars. You'll want to avoid playing on the LA rooftop map (quit out with the entire lobby). The other three maps each have their own strategy:

1) The LA "figure 8" Map:
- Those who aren't wrecking/hitting should meet in the middle intersection.
- The person wrecking the other 3 cars should be driving through the intersection, pick up the power ups (usually mines and bolts) and then take aim at the cares in the middle.

2) Barcelona (the stadium map)
- Those who aren't wrecking/hitting should meet in the middle, raised section where there are nitro power ups. Any nitro power ups collected by these three boosters should immediately be dropped for the main player to pick up (can be done by pressing Y)
- The person doing the wrecking should basically be driving circles around the other three cars, picking up nitros that are spawned and dropped by other players. Perform nitro rifts when you are close to the three cars. Doing this will allow you to hit multiple cars at once.

3) Amboy (dirt track with windmill in the middle)
- Those who aren't wrecking should meet in the middle (a windmill is here to start).
- Just like with the LA "Figure 8 map", the person going for wrecks and hits should collect power ups around the group and blast the hell out of the group as much as possible.

Notes:
- it takes approximately 20 minutes to do a full cycle so that all 4 boosters get a turn at wrecking/hitting the group.
- Even when you are not doing the wrecking/hitting, you will still get around 1500 fans. This can be increased by getting light hits and sneaking some power up hits in. Be courteous to your fellow boosters though and don't take over someone else's turn.
- In 2 hours I accumulated just over 60,000 fans (went from rank 44 to rank 46).
- It is impossible to say how many fans you will get during your turn. In some cases I got more fans when I was being hit than I did when I was doing the hits. Challenge completions and combos are very sporadic and hard to predict/determine. Just keep hitting as much as possible.
- DO NOT CONFUSE THIS AS BEING AN IDLE BOOSTING METHOD: it is the responsibility of the 3 boosters who are not hitting/wrecking to stay close together to make it easy for the other booster to get hits. Being hit by a certain power up causes cars to respawn and will have to be repositioned.

HOW TO DEAL WITH RANDOMS:
At no point should the player lobby set up by the host be broken. Boosters should stay together until the session is over.

Motormash isn't played that much anymore, so you should get a few matches in without having to deal with randoms. But once they do show up, the lobby host should "unprefer" them by giving them a negative review (I rate their player skill as too good). Once the player review is done, the host should leave the match lobby with the other boosters (their is an option for this when you go to quit out). This method has worked for me 99% of the time.

In order to get this achievement, you have to complete 4 requirements in the online multiplayer part of the game.

Requirement 1: Unlock All Ranked Playlists

You need to reach Level 15 in order to unlock all of the Playlists that are available in the game.

Requirement 2: Unlock All Challenge Packs

You need to reach Level 30 in order to unlock all of the Challenge Packs that are available in the game.

Requirement 3: Unlock All Vehicle Mods

You need to reach Level 47 in order to unlock all of the Mods that are available in the game.

Requirement 4: Reach Rank 50

Pretty self explanatory. You simply need to reach Level 50.

As of 2015 this game is still popular with randoms playing multiplayer on Blur. During the weekdays and early mornings you will get around 15 - 30 people playing the game. However in the weekends or days off you may get 50+.

Now there are 4 methods you can use which I know that can be used to help you progress towards Level 50. Some of them though will require you to play a bit of going offline and pretending your not around to avoid random players.

A possible recommendation you could do is if you click "Blur Events" in the Multiplayer Menu and then press cn_X in the Matchmaking Options, you can change your Region to Any Region, Local Region Preferred or Local Region Only. That way you may prevent yourself from getting into some random players lobbies you wish to avoid.

Method 1: Playing Legit

The Skirmish Racing Playlist in Blur always has random players playing the game. In most cases they are Level 50, prestiged, pros or randoms that just want to show off. So if you plan on joining them, don't expect to win.
You can join this lobby at any rank and regardless of whatever position you are, you will be awarded XP whatever position you place in. Even if you are just taking part.

Method 2: Challenges

When you reach Level 5 you will unlock the ability to progress towards Challenges in the game. See this solution for more details on the related achievement...

Solution for Challenger In Blur

By looking and scrolling through the challenges that are in the game, you will be able to earn more XP if you successfully complete them. Unfortunately some challenges require you to win or do things that are close to impossible in races and may require you to play Motor Mash King Events, attempt to go 1-v-1 or boost with a group of friends.

If you wish to boost towards these Challenges, I recommend you get at least 3 friends that are willing to help you and then search and play game modes that do not have randoms that will get in your way. Make sure you know what challenges you wish to work on when you are in the race and it's your turn to boost.

If for some reason randoms don't leave you alone then I suggest you search and play in different lobbies until they get the idea that they are not wanted in the game modes your playing.

Method 3: Motor Mash King & Team Motor Mash King

This is the game mode that you will likely use a lot, should you wish to boost towards XP. Be-aware though that as soon as randoms see people playing any of these 2 game modes, they will likely join and attempt to spoil it for you.

You can have up to 20 people playing both of these game modes at the same time. However if you are planning to boost this with a group of friends, then I recommend you have 8 or less players to avoid communication and difficulty with rotations. You will need at least 4 to start playing the game mode. The magic number I believe is 6.

If you have a group willing to boost with you, simply search for a game of Motor Mash King. The first person who searches will likely create the session and host it. They can then invite anyone in the group should they need to access the game mode itself.

You are originally required to be Level 15 in order to play both of these games modes, but if you are under Level 15, simply have someone in the lobby to invite you and you will be able to join the game mode. Wherever they will go, you can go too!

Allow the timer to countdown from the 40 second wait and hope that a random doesn't join. If randoms join before or after the race, then you can either chance it and let them join... hoping to not have them spoil your game or if need be, everyone backs out and searches for a Team Motor Mash King Event. Invite anyone that needs to be invited to the Team Motor Mash King if need be. This will be the recommended time to change your Online Preferences as well to Offline. The reason is because if you don't change it, randoms can simply click "Join Session In Progress" if they find your name on their Recent Player List.

To change your preferences to offline simply press the cn_guide and then scroll to the far right, then choose Preferences. Click Online Status and then choose Offline. You can always choose Busy as an alternative option but you won't get any notifications from other players should they be trying to invite you.

If the random still gets in your way when you play Team Motor Mash King Event, keep on going back and forth between Motor Mash King & Team Motor Mash King to send them a message that you do not want them to play the game with you.

Note: If you are planning to play the Team Motor Mash King Event. You need to have at least 6 people in order to start the event.

When your in the race, the boosting method is to take turns having one person wrecking the other players with whatever power-ups they can find around the arena. The remaining players need to press cn_LT, cn_RT or cn_A on a regular basis to avoid being invisible and not getting attacked. The idea is for you to take damage so that your friend can get points towards getting XP. When the race is complete rinse and repeat for the remaining members of the group.

If you have to play Team Motor Mash King Event then you will need to choose 2 people from either team to wreck the other players because Yellow team cannot damage Yellow players and Blue team cannot damage Blue players. So why shouldn't you multitask?

You can also work on a whole load of challenges whilst you are playing Motor Mash King & Team Motor Mash King Events. See the solution provided above for more information.

Method 4: 1-v-1 Lobby

This method will allow you to work on those extremely hard challenges you may not be able to get at all. But you will need to do a bit of co- co-ordinating.

First you will need a 2nd console with a Dummy Account and another copy of the game. If you don't have any of these then you cannot do this method.

Next you need to ensure that your dummy is between Level 1 - 10. If they are over Level 10 then they cannot be used for this method.

Now if you have all of the above then your dummy will be able to access a lobby for players that are Level 1 - 10. Simply get your dummy to go in and create a lobby. There shouldn't be many randoms or none at all using this lobby at all, because not many people play this one.
When the dummy is in the lobby simply get them to invite your main account that you use for playing. You will now be in the lobby with your dummy and despite that you will be higher than Level 10, as long as you don't leave the lobby you can stay in here as long as you want to.

You can also from here invite your friends or boosting group into the lobby to boost towards challenges you need to work on. It's a recommendation that you work on the "Ultimate Comeback", "Retribution" and "Shock Evader" Challenges using this method if you can.

Note: If you do not move your dummy account at all during the race, they will be kicked and if you are playing 1-v-1 you will have to re-invite them. If you are playing with a group of friends in the lobby however, you do not have to re-invite your dummy as you can still race (you need 2 people minimum though to start the race).

Outcome

You need 890,000 XP (Fans) to reach Level 50 in this game. Level 35 in this game is around the half-way point.

Warning: If you manage to reach Level 50. Do not accept the promotion offer until you have successfully earned this achievement...

BlurChallengerThe Challenger achievement in Blur worth 154 pointsMaster the Blur Challenges

Doing so will reset you back to Level 1 and you will have to reach a certain rank again to re-unlock the challenges you have missed out.

It will take you around 25 hours or less to get to Level 50, depending upon what methods you decide to use to get to that rank. I hope my information is useful.

Good Luck!

Unlock Legend Mode

  • Unlock all Ranked Playlists (Multiplayer)
  • Unlock all Challenge Packs (Multiplayer)
  • Unlock all vehicle Mods (Multiplayer)
  • Reach Rank 50 (Multiplayer)

Basically reach Rank 50 and the achievement will unlock.

Tips to level up fast:

  • Challenges: Always look in your challenges and see if it's possible to complete any. If so work those requirements into your racing style. Also keep in mind the Daily Challenge pack resets everyday so you can net yourself well over 20,000+ fans per day.
  • Mods: Choose mods that fit your preferences, however if your not a very aggressive player you can always choose the two fan increasing mods to give you a small amount more at the end of each race.
  • Power-ups: Fury Bolting an opponent is the best choice of action. If you're right behind something just rapid fire your bolts and you can net yourself well over 150+ fans from that one attack.

Up to level 50 you need 890000 experience. One of the most interesting trophies in the game, because... Online racing in the game is done perfectly. It’s not just that at the end of 2015, five years after the game’s release, online lobbies for 10 people are filled to the maximum (Skirmish mode), and in the evenings all 20 people easily play in the Powered-up mode. I confirm that it will take about 20+ hours to get it right.

A small addition to what perks are best to use for leveling up.

To begin with we set:

1. Fan / 2. Any / 3. Fan

After the perk (3.explosive mine) opens, set:

1. Fan / 2. Anyone / 3. Mina

The 40-50 quality is grueling in itself and I needed 2 nights to get it:

1. Fan / 2. Reset / 3. Mine

(a reset is the release of skills, after the release they become explosive, the enemy not only receives damage, but also the skills are blocked for 3 seconds, for 1 reset of a skill you will receive +10 EXP, Perk for fans = x2, i.e. +20 for 1 reset skill).

(what is the Mine skill for? We take a mine and shoot forward, but not at the enemy, waves begin to flow from the mine, we drive next to such a wave [we activate the mine] and it breaks up into many small fragments, each fragment brings +10 EXP, Perk for fans = x2, i.e. +20 for 1 fragment [there are 6-8 such fragments]) They also often manage to destroy the enemy’s car.

At the time of writing this tip, the online game is crowded; in some modes, even on weekday evenings, there are several full lobbies of old-timers with prestige - this shows how people are drawn into the local online madness (in the good sense of the word).
But if you don’t want to or don’t have time to play, then level 50 can be achieved without any hassle in about two days using a turbo gamepad: go into Skirmish mode, hold down R2 with a match and put the turbo on the cross. The car drives itself, shoots itself, and the level drips. It is also better to install perks for fans, as described in other tips. During the turbo boost, you can turn off the TV, or watch a TV series or a game on PS4, just occasionally check that your PS3 is not frozen, this happened to me once. In addition, get ready, most likely they will write to you a lot on PSN - the local community really likes you to “use the correct DNS from Google and your game will not lag” (naive and caring!), or (more perceptive) they will ask “not to cheat , and steer independently."
