How to unlock the I think I know a shortcut achievement in Brink - Definitive Guide

I think the easiest way to get this is to play as an Operative on the Resistance on the map Resort. Right away as soon as the mission starts (when the main objective is to blow up the pillar) there will be a secondary objective that is: "hack the lower door." It's not far from the initial spawn and hardly anyone goes in that area, even when you're playing against bots.

I got this easily playing as security on "Shipyard".

Simply play as soldier class and blow up one of the barricades with a HE charge.

Job Done :)

I down voted because I couldn't see what you were talking about, (play as soldier class and blow up one of the barricades with a HE charge)

I stayed playing that same level as security with no bots, I changed to an engineer, did the main objective by "fixing the crane controls", as soon as that was complete, I saw another objective "fixing the crane controls", but this time it was a side mission, soon as I finished it, cheevo popped....

This isn't that hard of an achievement. You just have to create an alternate route that your team can take to a objective. These are normally marked as secondary (blue) objectives and are needed to be done by Engineers. Just be on the lookout foe missions like Repair the Side Stairs or Hack the Side Door.

From Main Menu:

Freeplay -> Private Game -> Game Mode: Objective -> Play Mode: Solo -> Map: Resort -> Match Settings; Min Team Size: 0 Max Team Size: 1 -> Start Mission

You have to be on the Resistance team, its a 50/50 chance on what team you will spawn in as, to check just hit the start button and look on the left side of the screen, it should say Resistance (1/1) which means you are on the Resistance, if not, click on Change Team and switch over to the Resistance team.

Now go to the command center in front of you and switch to Operative class, any abilities and weapons do not matter. Once you have switched, hold UP on the D-Pad and select mission Plant Hackbox on Door Controls, simply follow to the objective and hack the door to 100%

This method makes this achievement a breeze as there will be no enemies that go after you.

There are a few levels this can be done. In Security campaign, the level Day 4: Dirty Bomb has a secondary objective "Construct Side Stairs". You will need to be an Engineer to complete this objective. On the Resistance mission What-If: Critical Reaction, as an engineer do the secondary objective "Repair the Bridge Access Panel". You can find these on your Objective Wheel to make them easier to find.

As an Engineer, you will need to repair broken shortcuts and other things of that nature. You will first earn this trophy during day four if you play the Security campaign first. Once have gotten past your first 2 objectives there will be a Secondary mission for the engineer to repair a shortcut for the team. Just use the wheel to find it. You will be asked to do it by one of the team, if they don't do it first, but if you happen to get there and start on it before your teammate completes the task, you will still get the trophy.

Alternative Method: Resistance Playthrough.
You can achieve this trophy with an Operative as well. You can achieve this right at the beginning of the Resistance mission "Day 6: Black Box" your optional objective is to "Hack the Shop Door" which is to the right of your spawn, hack this and the trophy is all yours.
