How to unlock the King of the world! achievement in Brink - Definitive Guide

Introduction:
-You must play by YOURSELF, if you want to unlock achievements. (Co-op will not work)
-IMPORTANT: Start a new character and do the challenges starting at rank 1. It will be easier much easier.
-IMPORTANT #2: Go to the campaign, select a mission and change the difficulty to "Easy". Now back out and play the challenges, this will make the challenges easier.
-All challenges must be done on 1 character.
-You must play and complete each challenge 3 times. (1-star, 2-star & 3-star)
-Challenges will get harder as you go through them multiple times.
-Save "Parkour This" for last.
-These challenges can be completed offline, and all achievements will unlock.
-You cannot unlock any non-challenge related achievements in this game mode.
-Once you complete a challenge, there will be a grey dot to fill the space beside it, letting you know you have completed it.
-You can verify completion (if you played online) if you have a leaderboard position.
-If you are having trouble, try upgrading your abilities.

Please view the videos and text descriptions below for my general strategies for each 3-star mission. My ranks in the videos range between 1-12, as they were recorded before it was known that ranking makes a difficulty difference.

Challenge 1 - Be More Objective:

This is easily the most frustrating of the challenges, and I suggest you leave it for last. The key to completing this challenge is to go from objective to objective as quickly as possible, and try to complete objectives with the least enemy resistance possible. If you run into a point where enemies are defending the objective, and your teammates are being useless, you'll have to kill 3 or more enemies, and then quickly make a break for the objective before they can spawn back. Don't count on your teammates to revive you, as usually they won't, but it is usually worth waiting a few seconds to see if they are able to pick you back up. While doing an objective (like repairing), make sure to crouch, and hide behind whatever you can while doing it. If enemies begin shooting at you, start swaying back and forth, making you harder to hit.

Challenge 2 - Parkour This:

The easiest challenge of all 4. You should have no problem getting this on your first try, but if you encounter any difficulties, view the path I used in the above video. There are slightly faster methods around, but they all use this path with small variations.

Challenge 3 - Escort Duty:

For this challenge you are asked to be an engineer, and escort a small tank to the end of the level. This challenge can be frustrating as you may die multiple times, but shouldn't cause too much trouble to pass. Make sure to always buff after spawning (Click left analog stick), and focus on the enemies over the tank.

Challenge 4 - Tower Defense:

For this challenge you will be an engineer, and to make it easier buy some abilities for your engineer class in the "Characters & Weapons" option from the main menu. Make sure to always plant a landmine in front of the command post, and try to "Spawn camp" as much as you can. Turrets can also help you, but use them wisely, as some enemies will hack them to turn against you. If you do use a turret, plant it across the path of the command post, so it is able to kill enemies who try and hack the command post. Stay calm, and well hidden and avoid dieing at all costs. Good Luck with this!

Conclusion:
After completing all 4 challenges at the 3-star rating, you will have gotten the following achievements:
BrinkWell done! The Well done! achievement in Brink worth 12 pointsComplete your first 1 Star Challenge

BrinkVery well done indeed! The Very well done indeed! achievement in Brink worth 34 pointsComplete your first 3 Star Challenge

BrinkWho's bad?The Who's bad? achievement in Brink worth 38 pointsComplete all 1 Star Challenges

BrinkKing of the world! The King of the world! achievement in Brink worth 284 pointsComplete all 3 Star Challenges

Note: Some of the above achievements may unlock in a different order.

If you start with these challenge`s, it isnt that hard to do.
Plus you directkly know how stuff works, and what classes can do.
It took me 1 hour to do all of the 3-star challenges.

Be Objective 2 Star is really irritating me. I cannot complete a hack, got close once with an enemy chasing me around the crate area but that is the main part I am stuck at. Not sure what else to do but keep trying, I also made a new character. Thanks for providing all of this, especially the info that you can only do this solo (which is crazy). Don't let the negative votes get to you.

Quick question if anyone knows. If I do a three star with one character and then another three star with a different one does it tally up for the achievement across all characters created? or do I have to have all three stars done on one profile? Thanks!

Don't take it down! I've just got this game today, had a play, and decided to shoot on here and get as many well-written guides as i could write up before others did. I was about to comment and say 'Well, you beat me to it. Definitive guide' when I noticed the negatives.

Probably just game haters downvoting every solution or something. Don't sweat it man, this guide is bulletproof, time will tell.

@DBB, as mentioned at the beginning of the solution, try starting a new character. In the video, I am level 6, if you are a lot of levels higher than me, there would be more enemies, and the challenges would be harder.

Some good tips there. Struggling to get the 2 star on Be More Objective, with my low level character. Just needs a box in front of it for some cover to get that damn hack box on.

Best tip for Tower Defense is to just sit in 1 of the tunnels that can see the middle so that you have somewhere to hide and also see the station in the middle. BEWARE - DON'T PUT TURRETS DOWN IN THE TUNNEL. ENEMIES WILL SPAM GRENADES IN TO KILL IT.

on challange one before hacking the computer use a disguise so you won't get shot immediately.
on challenge three, before repairing the vehicle place a mine in front of the first door and place a turret in sight of the second door and capture the health-control-post.

Just gave adriM's suggestion about difficulty a go. I certainly found the going a heck of a lot easier. It would be cool to see if anyone else finds the same, and it isn't just me giving the challenges a rest for a day.

@Sgt Slithe - Wow it sure does, taking adriM's advice it went A LOT smoother than previous attempts. Was able to go through Be More Objective without retrying finally.

@Maka - Could you please update your solution that the whole, start campaign and put it on easy, then back out so that these challenges will be easier? Credit to adriM for finding this out. I was playing campaign co-op on hard the whole time and it carries the difficultly over. Also took the advice of making new character as well. Thanks everyone.

To make this almost laughably easy, defintely start a new character for the challenges and start an easy campaign then back out and do the challenges. I got Escort Duty, Tower Defense all 3 stars and Be More objective 1 star. I was having a hard time doing Be More Objective 2 stars (after about the 10th failed attempt I figured what do I have to lose.) After starting a campaign level on easy, backing out then doing the challenges I was not only able to get 2 star Be More Objective on my first try, but 3 star as well. Now all I have left is Parkour this and I beat 3 stars with another character.

The Heavy body type makes the last two challenges a fair bit easier - more health and machineguns reduce the threat a lot, you don't need speed.
When hacking on Be More Objective, you can go quite far from your hackbox while hacking it, plant the box and then run.

@Maka
i found the tower defense alot easier by sitting in a crate in the back corner. enemies will spawn inside of the crate but around the corner. i set down a turret which either killed them or gave me a heads up they were coming. This allowed me to face the command post. The turret was never destroyed and i just had to fix it. also used the land mine but a little off to the side of the front of the commend post. i saw enemies hacking it from the side and they were avoiding the mine directly in front.

After I completed the final 3 star challenge, the achievement didn't pop for me. I think what happened is that on the last Parkour challenge I finished the mission after the timer went to zero. (It seems to have a couple second grace period to allow you to run back to the finish) The challenge counted as completed but apparently not for the achievement. I replayed the Parkour challenge, made sure there was time left on the clock when I finished, and the achievement popped.

Can you create a new character without deleting your old one? I'm a rank 4 lvl16 and I dont want to start over for my rank 5 achievement.

So if I can make this new character just for the challenges and afterward continue online with the high ranking one, that would be great!

Great Guide. New character is the way to go for sure. I would go one step further and make the new abilities as an engineer. Seeing as you will use them 3 out of the 4 challenges.

I like the guide EXCEPT...

Having the heavy body type makes things A LOT easier for Tower Defense and Escort Duty. I would suggest getting the heavy body type AND THEN going for the challenges.

@EMPATH1C MIM1C, it's up to personal preference, but most people prefer doing it with the stock body type at a low level because it makes things easier for most. Obviously there are a ton of ways to get this achievement.

If you're struggling on this, take this into consideration:
My friend and I first started out by doing co-op campaign on hard. In the middle of it we decided to break to upgrade our skills, do some challenges, etc. when we began having trouble with the AI. I had many difficulties with the challenges (except parkour) - I couldn't get past Objective 2, Escort Duty 3, and it was very frustrating.

However, I had an idea - the game remembers the difficulty that you've set and remembers it for next time you want to start a game. What if, for some odd reason, this difficulty affects the challenges?

Well, I played a couple maps on easy and then attempted the challenges again. It went MUCH SMOOTHER. I was able to beat them on my first try!

Now, I figure one of two things could've happened - either my abilities / luck improved vastly while playing those easy missions and I just roflstomped the computers, or the difficulty you last played in the campaign is ported over to the challenges.

Give it a try - see if it works for you!

Yes the difficulty dictates how hard the challenges are. Make sure you have the difficulty set to easy and the cheev will still unlock. I found out the hard way!! Unfortunately I did the first 3 challenges on hard - I could have saved myself a lot of frustration!!

By Slithe on 17 May 2011 18:13
I managed all challenges with a Level 14 character.

The only difficult one was Tower Defence #3 which took me, maybe a dozen tries.

It's all about timing - I used the heavy mini gun with the heavy body type. For the first 9 waves you can pretty much blitz them all as they come through the door.

Reload between waves.

For the last two waves, make sure you've got a turret in the middle - try and blitz 3 guys as soon as they come through the first door then duck around the middle keeping the minigun spinning without firing (LT).

Health is EVERYTHING in this.

Well Maka91, another great guide and another +1 from me!! That "Spawn Camping" trip saved me a lot of headache........once I saw the pattern on my second try after seeing your guide, it was only the very last wave that gave me trouble, had to "reclaim" the command post twice but I hung in there and got it!!

Okay, there are a lot of solutions posted here, and all of them will work. However, I have a modification that turns this achievement from one of the most difficult to one of the easiest.

As others have pointed out, you should start a new level 1 character for this achievement. Immediately choose the "Battle Hardened" ability as well, as it will be helpful.

Then, begin with "Be More Objective" and complete the 1-star challenge. IF YOU LEVEL UP and get level 2 after the 1-star mission is completed, go into the 'abilities' menu and pick a new ability, then immediately press 'Y' to "sell all," which will reset you back to level 1. Choose "Battle Hardened" again.

Then simply go back and play "Be More Objective" for the 2-star challenge. Again, if you level up, repeat the ability process to reset yourself to level 1. The 3-star challenge should be extremely easy now.

You want to stay at level 1 for every challenge because it makes the bots really easy to kill, and that's not to mention that it makes them completely unable to aim properly, and you will rarely die.

After completing the 3-star challenge on "Be More Objective," repeat the process next on "Escort Duty" and "Tower Defense." Since you're resetting to level 1 each time, you could do these in any order as they will remain the same difficulty. (Note: I admit that it IS handy to have the turret ability on "Tower Defense," but it really isn't necessary) After your last 3-star mission on all of these challenges, you don't have to reset again, because all that is left is "Parkour This," which has no enemies.

Using this method, I got this achievement tonight in under an hour, and never had to repeat a challenge. So, by remaining level 1 at all times, this achievement can be extremely simple.

Did this like you said and didn't have too much problem as stated. Little problem on Escort Duty would you believe but resetting to level 1 is the key. Just hope more people pay more attention to this guide than some of the others coz i think this is the easiest solution in my opinion.

Wow, I got this long ago without constantly resetting. I hadn't even thought to sell all my abilities. I simply started a new turn, started with Be more objective, tower defense, escort, the parkour. I guess having it where the bots are weak would've been ownage. I like the method though, if i make a new account I will definitely use it.

Mr PhyziX, just be certain that you're resetting your character down to level 1 every time. Full disclaimer: I wrote this solution last year. I'm glad to see that some people are still getting it to work, but there may have been some patches that possibly made this harder to do since then. I don't know for sure, because I haven't really played Brink for a long time. Keep at it though. Good luck!

I got the Achievement very easy a few moments ago. Here is what i did. If you do exactly like this, you wont have any problems at all.

1) Create a new character and use him on the missions

2) Do the following order of missions to get the sure fire deal here

- 1 Mission : Be more objective
Why: This is by far the hardest mission and the most unforgiving because you have to sprint from objective to objective while the enemies get cheap hits. Also if you die once, there is a high chance that you wont make it

- 2 Mission : Escort Duty
Why: Sometimes if your buggy gets crashed at the wrong spot, you will have enemies approaching from your back and from your front, which can cost you time and nerves, so do this mission as number two

- 3 Mission : Tower Defense
Why: Its simple, here you can just learn the pattern of enemies approaching. The final Wave on Level three will come with 9 enemies at once. Here it is essentiel to take out a whole unit of them before you get distracted and overrun. If your outpost got captured, just dont panic and take the enemies out with controlled shots (dont forget to buff your damage)

- 4 Mission : Parcours
Why: Its a simple mission and an easy thing to breeze through it

With this method i got the Achievement in almost no time and no effort

People who leave negative feedback are the one's who are usually just terrible at the game.. and because they are incapable of doing the achievement to begin with they have to take there frustration out on someone. I didn't use your guide, but after doing it myself (at a pretty high level) and struggling I can see how this would work well. Solid advice in my opinion.

I voted negatively for two reasons.
1. This isn't a guide on how to get through each level. You are just describing what the challenge is. Someone else has posted vids which are helpful.
2. I also always vote negatively on ppl that love to say 'this is really easy'. No-one is interested in how good you think you are, the reason they are looking at guides is because they need help and therefore don't find it easy.
I'm not hating on anyone, or jealous, or anything else - I just vote positively for guides that help

By Slithe on 17 May 2011 16:21
Well then you are clearly in a minority here my friend, this guide helped others because its a guide which gives you an advantage of the more frustrating missions.

You dont need a guide for getting through the Missions here, when you start with a new character, its as simple as it can be. If you use this walk here, you cant do anything wrong because the more frustrating parts are Easy compared to other walkthroughs where you start with your higher Level character.

I see in your profile that you didnt gt the achievemnt so far, which is in fact something which someone here mentioned, that mostly people vote down solutions, who are unable to obtain a special achievement out of their frustrating time, which is stupid.

I didnt got the Mile High Achievement in MW but i voted UP every solution to this achievement because in every solution there is a grain of useful information.

Also i said easy on the parcour missions only and not in general. I gave tipps who i did this, which is in fact an easy Achievement to get if you can handle games in general ;-)

Yes you hate people who got the Achievement by using guides here, anyway i think people who vote down stuff are ridiculous and a pest to this community.

You shouldnt vot down guides because you are unable to get certain achievements

I first tried to revert my rank 5 character to level 1, but that didn't help. Apparently the AI doesn't revert back with you. I couldn't get passed the second run through of 'Be More Objective' because of the hacking part. Then I decided to make a new character, and I went 12/12 without ever losing a single round. Thanks for the help.

I guess I must be in the minority for this, because saying "do it, its easy." isnt making it any easier for me. The AI still have their long range shotguns even though iv created a new character so I take a disgusting amount of damage.

Im not going to vote you down since you seem to take it personally, just letting you know this guide doesn't work for everyone.

And before its said, yes, I guess im just not that good at this game.

Great guide! I was really dreading this achievement because I'm usually terrible at completing challenges, but I followed your guide and completed them all on my first try (except for the 3rd challenge of Parcours) Thanks for the help :)

Created new character = check
Be More Objective - 1 Star easy
Escort Duty - 1 Star easy

realises you mean do ALL 1,2 and 3 Stars of Be More Objective..
Be More Objective - 2 Star OK (wish I bought Kevlar Vest as you spend most of time being shot at)
Be More Objective - 3 Star - tough going 7 attempts - mainly because you spend about 3 of your 10 minutes waiting for your dumb (run towards the enemy fire and die) AI to heal you
What clicked it for me was approaching Objectives from the stairs on the opposite side fromm the objective and never ever waiting for a medic.

[first 3 star Ach unlocks]

Escort Duty - 2 Star - easy
Escort Duty - 3 Star - challenging - 2 attempts

Tower Defence - 1 Star - easy - but remembering the attack sequence - not me matey ! LOL
Tower Defence - 2 Star - challenging - bizzarely the greatest part of that challenge was running out of ammo and getting killed on purpose to get some more (stupid bloody game)
Tower Defence - 3 Star - 7 attempts - a pain in the arse but then i realise - set to Easy! - I realise how bad a shot the enemy AI is - i relax and stand still taking them out with the extended ammo capacity that just unlocked upon completing Star 2

After completing Tower Defence Star 3 (AFTER!) I realise that I could have got ammo by switching weapons at the Command Station [sigh + LOL]

so the Parcour levels tomorrow

This is a great tip for Tower Defense ONLY (4th and final challenge). It helped me a lot so I hope for those of you that dislike this challenge, I hope this helps!

What I did was use the heavy archetype, and make my primary the Gotlung Minigun for its obvious pluses of damage, rate of fire and huge ammo capacity. Secondary can be any AR with an underslung grenade launcher just for some cleaning up or early pickings as the AI run out of the tunnels.

The important part is this. You don't ever have to reload your weapon. How is it so simple? After you kill a wave, you go back to the command point, go to change weapon (the game will pause), switch to another gun then back to the Gotlung. Ding! Ammo restored, no reloads. You can stay atop your tower, aim down the sight to let the weapon spin up and let loose as soon as the AI pop out of the tunnels.

A small note: it only takes about 30-35 bullets to take out the group as they're exiting. After you kill the group, you have plenty of time to "reload" and set up for the next group.

I did try this earlier with the EZ-Nade AGL, but the delay of grenades, the path of them being a little unpredictable, and the fact that you only get six shots didn't sit well with me personally.

So happy camping, guys 'n girls!

You may think the common-sense approach to these is to play through them at the start to unlock weapons and attachments, then come back to them once you've got a high level character and lots of upgrades.

Unfortunately the difficulty appears to increase with level, if anything getting harder, not easier! I did manage to 3 star the objective challenge with a lvl 20 engineer (2 mines + max turret), but the 'Tower Defense' was just a joke, especially the last round.

So as suggested elsewhere using a new low level character would appear to be key here. However i'd go further and say would need to keep the character low level! That is every so often, say when hitting level 3 or 4, go to the abilities screen and 'sell' your upgrades. This will have the effect of losing an upgrade point and demoting by 1 level. So if level 4, sell everything, buy an upgrade, then 'sell' again. You'll find yourself back at level 2 with just 2 upgrades available. I then choose the health boost and 3rd person view when interacting with objectives useful.

You still need to employ the right tactics for each challenge and some luck always helps, but I found this much easier than trying with a high level character.

I did 'objectives' first, then 'tower defence', followed by 'escort' and finally 'parkour', though luck still plays a major factor in completing these in my opinion.

For 'objectives', I found initially speed to be important to 'blow' the first objective before enemies showed up. After which I often had to help my team AI to take down a wave of enemies, so that eventually they could 'spawn camp' the enemy spawn and let me get on with the other objectives.

For 'Tower defence' its really only the last round that poses any difficulty as you'll get swamped from almost everywhere. One tactic I used here was to rush into the first spawn area and take out the guys (using a sub-machine gun' with high damage and fast rate of fire), before they entered the main arena. Of course when you get back, the other spawns are likely to be crawling all over you, but I found it gave me a fighting chance. Just make sure you equip some wepaons with a large reserve of ammo.

For 'Escort' I'd often prepare a level, by placing a mine and hacking any consoles, before returning to repair the vehicle. Then I found taking out each wave of enemies as fast as possible was best (again secondary weapon sub-machine gun was effective at close ranges). If the vehicle got damaged I tended to leave one enemy alive, to stop full respawns, though things happened so quick i'm not sure if that actually worked.

The suggested solutions are fine, but one thing to be aware of: the achievement must be earned on a single character. I got 3 stars on two of them with my first character and created a new one to try the remaining two. Once I got 3 star on them, the achievement still didn't unlock. I checked, and my name was on the leaderboard for all the challenges. I went back and got all the three stars on a single character and it unlocked.

Weapons upgrades do carry over between characters, though.

I thought about starting a new character to just do the challenges but ran through the first two without problems with my lvl 14, it adds to the xp so why not?

"Be more objective" is best with a light body type to run as fast as possible to objectives and do them while the crappy AI is confused.

"Parkour" is super easy if you follow the guide, light body type again.

"Escort duty" and "Tower defense" (the latter being the only one thet proved tricky) are most easily done with a heavy body type and the Chinzor machine gun, the CARB-9 is pretty good to fall back on if you need to, just make sure on "Tower defense" you have a landmine in play at all times in front of the command post and you know what door(s) the enemies are spawning from, and it's peachy.

In addition to other guides, it is very advisable to use a level 0 character for all challenges. Parcour could be done with every level. If you buy a perk and then sell erverything your level will go down to 0 again and that would be much easier for the hard challenges! For example on the Escort Mission with level 4, there were about 6-7 enemies at once, but on level 0 there were only 3 new enemies spawning! I only had problems on the first try of the Tower Defence Mission, but on the second try it was very easy for me. Hope I could help you :)

-These challenges can be completed offline, and all trophies will unlock.
-You cannot unlock any non-challenge related trophies in this game mode.

Note: Some of the above trophies may unlock in a different order.

There are four (4) challenges that consist of 3 levels of difficulty. You will need to be in the Main Menu, head down to challenges, there you will see four challenges that don't have the white mark next to the name. If you end up seeing a white mark next to the name, it could mean that you have reached the last Difficulty for that challenge or you have beaten the last difficulty for that challenge.

If you are having trouble finding out if you have beaten the last challenge, just head over to the Characters and Weapons section to see if you have any of the attachments that you unlock for completing a challenge difficulty for each challenge or the Leaderboards for that last difficulty for any challenge. If you are having trouble completing the first star challenges, you can go to the campaign and switch the difficulty to easy. Doing that will change the AI difficulty across all challenges to make it a bit easier for the player.

Challenge 1 - Be More Objective:
You are better off, using Grenades to knock back any enemies that are in your way to buy you a little bit of time to complete the task. Be mindful that once you reach the last objective there will be enemies waiting for you at the top. Just take them out as quickly as possible, while using cover to heal when needed.

Thanks SajikoSakura for the video Walktrough.

Challenge 2 - Parkour This:
You will be playing as the lightest body type in the game. You will need to jump from platform to platform and then race back to the beginning. You will be timed. There are nine Checkpoints for you to get to before you are able to race back to the start point to finished the challenge. Make sure to hold the button to run and jump over gate and onto other objects to get you to the next checkpoint. Please use the video to help with this challenge.

Thanks SajikoSakura for making the Challenge video Guide!

Challenge 3 - Escort Duty:
You will be an engineer that needs to take on small waves of enemies that are trying to take out the Robot. That same robot needs to make it to the other side of the area.

You will need to stay behind the robot at all cost to keep it moving forward. There will be three enemies at a time, until you get closer to the end or die, granting more enemies to come out and shoot at your Robot. Staying behind the robot will provide cover at all times and all you will have to do is take out the enemies one by one until they are gone. There will be lights indicating when waves of enemies are coming from a door.

Thanks SajikoSakura for making the Challenge video Guide!

Challenge 4 - Tower Defense:
You play as an engineer, you will need to fight multiple waves of enemies at once with each star gained. There will be a total 11 waves in total for each star. The best way to go about this is to be Rank 2; That way you will be able to use a turret to add in a direction you won't be able to defend otherwise. Plant a landmine on on the top of the stairs or in-front of the computer that the enemies are trying to hack.

Also watch the lights that come up in front of each entrance to know where the enemies are coming from so you will be better prepared to take on the waves.

Thanks SajikoSakura for making the Challenge video Guide!

There are a total of 4 challenges to complete. You must do the first and second Star Challenges in order to unlock the 3rd for each. They hardly change and add a little bit more difficulty. Straight from Splash Damage out of the strategy guide, they state the higher you rank up the harder they become. So it's best to do the first couple for each challenge to get all unlockables, then play the campaign. Once done with campaign, create a brand new level 0 character to do the challenges with. After completing the 1st/2nd Star Challenges prior, and by learning lots of the game from playing so much and hitting rank 5, you should not have too much trouble completing them now.

Be More Objective: Here you must do objectives with the various classes. Your AI team will not help hardly at all. This is the most frustrating of the challenges. You will get shot randomly and get taken down quickly. Make sure you use the high ground often. Do this challenge first.

Parkour This: This is the easiest of the challenges. There are no enemies. Be sure to do this one last so you don't gain experience from it (so you don't gain a level).

Escort Duty: This mission can be a little bit tough but it's more about the time. If you keep killing enemies and moving on you will do fine.

Tower Defense: The way it works is there are 3 rounds with various amounts of enemies in each wave. You must kill them and protect the Command Post. Place a mine near the objective but not directly in front of it. An enemy has to step off of for it to detonate. If you die, it will be your safeguard. Also remember you can self buff your weapon damage and refill ammo by accessing the Command Post every time you need it.

Click below and you will find videos and more in-depth discussion on the challenges.
