How to unlock the Date Night achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops - Definitive Guide

For this achievement you are going to need to have at least played one Xbox Live match or have your friend have played one.

1) go to multiplayer main menu
2) Click Xbox Live
3) Click Theater after that
4) Invite your friend in to the match
5) Then go to my recent games
6) Select you recent game by pressing the "A" button on it
7) Select for playback
8) start film

You do not have to watch the whole film but when it starts you should get the achievement. just make sure YOU INVITE A FRIEND in because that is what the main part of the achievement is.

maybe it was just temporary, i am now able to watch my movies, made some nice screenshots. No friend online though so will get this another day

If you are having trouble you could send me a message on xbox live and see what is up. I know if you have certain privacy settings on your xbox you will not be able to watch videos with anybody.

yea i tried split screening, doesn't work. but on the plus side you can have a guest play online with you split screen for free!!! yes you heard me for free!!! maybe a mistake on treyarch's part!!

Easier way is to make a 1second film clip and spam all recent players some 12 year old will join thinking its a 1v1 and you can just start as it will buffer instantly and so long as they dont dash it will unlock

The community tab no longer seem to update. but i unlocked this achievement by going to the leaderboards and finding a clip from another profile's recently played games and loaded it, many of them won't load and gave me an error but eventually i found one that worked.

Is this achievement discontinued now? I’m unable to search any recent games on leaderboards or even my own game after playing one, I even had a clip saved from 2018 and that’s now not working and neither is any clip on the leaderboards, please help as the game doesn’t say any achievements are discontinued on TA so how are people by passing this?

i also believe this achievement is unobtainable even with a physical copy and playing on xbox 360 without the update playing offline the achievement still cant be obtained as you need to be online to access the theatre

The theater mode servers have been acting up, but the achievement is still possible. How I did it was making a bunch of private matches solo - set the match timer to 1min 30sec and make sure game recording is turned ON in the settings. Wait out a bunch of these 90 second games (I tried each on a different map just in case, all of them on team deathmatch) and once you have 5-10 of these in your recent matches, try loading them up in theater mode 1 at a time until one of them works. Then invite your friend and start the film and both of you should get the achievement.

Edit: Okay so I am not sure what happened, but as soon as I replied to this, all the clips started working. Unlocked it 6/7/2024.

What I found after an hour or so of trying to copy from top rated community and always getting an error message is this: play a few multiplayer games. Then scroll to one of the players in the lobby and check their file share or recent games and then try and transfer their film file onto your share. That is what worked for me to fix all the errors. LMK if that helps and also message me and I can try to help get it for you.

neg vote because you don't explain the first part: how to actually GET a video.
it's quite simple: you don't even need to make one your own, just download one from the community option, playback, and ding: chievo.
if you fix this part in your solutionlet me know to change my vote.

I will describe this in steps for making this a foolproof guide that hopefully avoid that you misunderstand how to unlock this achievement. Should be mentioned this a very easy achievement to unlock.

FIRST THE REQUIREMENTS:
• Xbox Live Gold member as this achievement requires online multiplayer. Silver membership only has acess to updates and DLCs.
• A friend with Call of Duty: Black Ops or someone else. This achievement requires you to see the film/clip online with a friend, it is not possible with Split Screen function.

STEP BY STEP
• From the Main menu choose "Multiplayer"..
• Then choose "Xbox Live" and after that "Theater".
• Then you goto "Community".
• You will now be presented with a lot films and clips, just scroll and choose one and load it by pressing cn_A.
• Now choose the option, "Select for Playback"
• Invite a friend with the game Black Ops by pressing the button cn_Y.
• In the invite menu press the button, "Select" to invite friend.
• After your friend is invited press "Start Film". It will not take a long time to unlocked the "Date Night Achievement".

This achievement is incredibly simple. All you have to do is choose a film or clip from your file share, then invite a friend and watch it. The achievement will pop up while your watching the film or clip.

THIS ACHIEVEMENT IS STILL OBTAINABLE IN 2022!!
what you have to do is go through your friends list (hitting Y on multiplayer screen), look for someone with a video on their file share that you can still view (some videos will give an error message when you try to open them in theater mode, just move on to the next video and keep trying til you find one you can open). After you find one that works invite a friend with xbox live gold to the game and boom you got your achievement.

you will not be able to create a new clip so dont even bother trying to find a mp game. recent games will always come up empty, as do community clips.

I found a friend with a 02:15 clip from 2010 that I can still view. I select it, then select A Go to Theater. Then I select Y, Invite To Game a friend that definitely has Game Pass Ultimate, then back out to Theater and select Start Clip. The clip plays but no achievement. Did I get the sequence right?

Load a film in a theater lobby, invite a friend from your list and start the film. Once it starts, trophy is yours. There is no need to watch whole film.

The recent games isn't showing for me even though I have played recently. I think this is due to no server maintenance since it's a 12 year old game now. Instead look for the community clips and pick whatever clip just to start it.

The solution of MaulRx is for if you have friends willing to join you (mine didn't want since it's a DATE night). What I did was, after playing a online multiplayer game, inviting like 10 people, and as soon as one of them joins my party, I let the video clip play.
Now the trophy should pop

First you need to have completed at least one Local/Online Multiplayer Match. Go to:
Multiplayer > Playstation Network > Theater > My Recent Games

Here you'll find a list of games you have recently completed. Select anyone and choose the option "Place in My file Share" and name it whatever you want. Now, goto "My File Share" in the same menu, select the clip and choose "Select for Playback". You will see a counter on the bottom right that says "downloading". When it is done, press Triangle18x18.png to bring up a list of your friends, and press Select2Button.png to invite any of them. Once they've joined your theater, choose start film and trophy should unlock.

Go to Multiplayer>Xbox Live>Theater>My Recent Games.  Pick a "recent game" and allow it to download from Xbox live. Now press  and invite a friend who is going to join. Start up the movie up and achievement will pop.
