question. Do you know if Gersh devices will not come out of the mystery box in solo play? I can make it to round 12 fairly routinely now on my own, and chase the mystery box to up to 3 new locations when it moves. In my 20+ attempts at this, my final achievement, I've yet to see a single Gersh device.. Any help?

The Gersh comes out on all types of play, whether solo play, private match or in matchmaking. They possibly could have patched it so it doesn't come out as often, because I do remember when the map first came out that when i played with my friends the Gersh came out every time we played to at least 2 people.

I'd just say keep at it. Just keep trying and you'll get it. I made it to 38 solo on Ascension and lost 40,000 hitting the box in a single round (I had crawlers) because I was out of ammo and needed something to replace the porters x2 ray gun.

@XPLS it is easy. i've probably gotten the gersch like 100 times now. just build up money and hit the box over and over, you will get it, it really is an easy achievement

It's "easy" in the sense that once you get it, it almost impossible NOT to suck up 5 zombies in it, since every zombie on the map gets pulled towards it while its out.
As for me, I got this today playing solo and on round 13. My friend always somehow got it every time we played co-op, but I never did. Pretty much the only tip for this is, don't stop trying!
I will admit though, I hate luck based achievements.

some people (XPLS x Shin x) dont know the meaning of achievement GUIDE!!! Guide means to show someone the way to something or someone not guaranteeing u get the achievement, so stop being pathetic and down-voting a perfectly good GUIDE BECAUSE U R UNLUCKY!!!!!

Whew, IDK man, I mean if it's glitched it's glitched. I always suggest to people to clear their memory cache if the game is acting up. It could have something to do with the recent update. I downloaded mine 8/21/2011. That's the best info I can give ya, good luck.

Huh, it might be possible that the latest update is causing this achievement to not unlock. I just downloaded First Strike tonight with some friends, and each one of us was able to get the Gersh device, but none of us could get the achievement. :/

Yeah mine has glitched too :/ Im going to delete my Cache and then see if it works. If not Im just going to do it offline (Solo) or wait for a patch.

Mine is glitched as well. I've probably done the achievements prerequisite about 10 times now and no achievement.

I Had 5+ zombies sucked up multiple times and no ach. The moon patch may have glitched it :(

From the looks of all of your problems the newest Black Ops update most likely glitched this achievement. Sorry about that. IDK if Treyarch is aware or if they are already fixing it. If any of you still play multiplayer as well, be sure to check out the hot fixes. The one way I know of is in a pregame lobby before searching for a game, look in the number in the upper right hand corner of your screen, write it down (example 63.1.6.21), and then keep checking back either daily or however often you want.

I think that they'll release a patch or a hot fix, it all just depends on when. But, hey whatever works.

Foir three times I killed more than 5 zombies by gersh device but the achievement did not pop up..is it glitched again? please help!

This achievement is glitched again. I'm going to try playing with just first strike dlc downloaded to see if moon is breaking it.

Update: To fix the glitch.
1. Delete all DLC and the update
2. Redownload only First Strike DLC
3. Download the update.
4. Follow the guide above to get achievement
The DLC with the moon level somehow messes up the achievement with certain updates. So deleting it will fix the problem.

I'd love to help but I haven't been on TA much lately, let alone playing Black Ops. Flolais' suggestions looks to be legit.

Just posting to confirm that Flolais method works fine. I had all map packs and despite getting 10+ zombies with a device 6 times in one game, it wouldn't unlock. Deleted all, cleared cache, reinstalled First Strike and got the patch upon game boot and the achievement popped on the first Gersch I threw.

As of November 2017, this achievement unlocked without issue. I'm playing on Xbox One via backwards compatibility and have all DLC packs installed.

Works as advertised. Spent a little over 20k on the box. First attempt at a throw. Unlocked immediately.

This achievement is glitch if you don’t do it in xbox live public match (solo or coop) . I did it multiple times in solo, clear cache … I can’t connect to xbox live so i will not unlock this last achievement.

Yea, those are Mutrushka (sp) dolls. It is basically the same thing as a frag grenade, you hold LB and lift off on LB when you decide where you want it to go. You don't throw them, what happens is that you twist off the top of the doll and then the grenade pops out of it, once that grenade explodes 3 or 4 more grenades come out of that and explode shortly after.

It works nothing like the monkey bomb from past zombie modes, if anything the Gersh device works most like the monkey as it attracts zombies to it. In all fairness and IMHO, the monkey bombs are truly better than the Gersh Devices.

Hey, it's not my fault that the Gersh device doesn't show up for any of you. The box is randomized at all times, that's why they call it a "Mystery Box," see the correlation? There is no certain way to using the mystery box, both of you probably know this since you've obviously played zombies before you wrote your comments. So taking out your frustration on 'a' (meaning one, 1; moreover, meaning there's others besides this one) solution because you don't like how the mystery box works is absurd.

Maybe you don't save your money correctly, and/ or you have separate priorities in the Ascension maps of zombies. However, this isn't a solution on how to correctly save your money in a game of zombies, this is 'a' solution on how to obtain this achievement with a Gersh device, in which case you know can only be obtained via the Mystery box; you've played the maps, and you know what you want to do in those maps, regarding the spending of your money, which doors to open first, knowing when and when not to spend your money.

Completely agree I just wanted to get it done and who knows if they will release a patch. I had try 3 times till I got the Gersh Device and it didn't pop so me and a freind who I use so I don't have to buy the DLC just did what I put above and I got the achievement as it should have popped.

Downvote because I got the gersch two spins after a matriska.

So how does this help in actually getting the achievement? No explanation of where to get it or even how to successfully use it. FFS lol
