How to unlock the Fearless achievement in Call of Duty: World at War - Definitive Guide
This is a shorty but tough one to manage through.
You start this level out riding on a tank listening to Roebuck and some other dude talking about how to conquer this mountain, and all of a sudden the tank you're on is hit by a rocket, and you head into a brutal firefight up a hill. You will be asked to clear 2 anti-tank positions, and face many, many banzai attackers doing so. Stay low and slow, and make good use of the automatic weapon you start with as well as your 'nades and smoke.
Once you manage the first position, you will go downhill into the other position. Use the same tactics. By now you should now what to expect from Veteran. Once that second position is clear, you will follow a tight path to another brutal fight, but this time, you have a tank on your side. You will progress up a hill whilst the tank flames many enemies in front of you. Use cover, and I found the right side offers the best during this climb. You will eventually come to a cave entrance. Wait until you get the checkpoint before you go into that cave, or you will do that last climb all over again.
Now you have to move through these caves. Thankfully, there aren't many foe in this cave. Use you cover and 'nades again, and move from one cover to another. Eventually you will get to a fork. I found the left path, then once you reach the tunnel bearing right, follow it and finish the climb with the right path, was easier. Once you hit the end of the line, you will be commissioned to clear out the artillery bunker. Go slow and have fun with the plenty of nades around. Once you kill the last guy, the mission ends.
Not too hard, but can be very frustrating. Watch the video for what to expect.

Yeah, but they do give you a general idea of the level layout and what to expect.

Hope this video helps out anyone still needing this very difficult achievement, even the best strategies will need repeated attempts! I take no credit for the video, just thought I'd share it since it helped me out quite a lot.
Tips for following the tank -part:
- Enemies have endless spawn from caves, it only stops when you move to last cover.
- Save all your 4 smoke granades for this part! They are the key.
- Learn the points where your allies will follow you. When you reach these points you can retreat easily to catch some breath - your allies will keep these points occupied.
- When you hear Roebuck saying a new line it usually means that you have reached point where your allies will advance.
- Take your time and snipe all non-spawning enemies or let your allies kill them.
- Remember - if granade falls between you and some cover (like sandbags) you are safe! Just stay prone!
My plan is always go from the right side. Past truck wreck and to first sandbags. Prone!
When you get there Roebuck will say something and allies will advance there with you. Dont shoot - just stay alive and cover.
Take your time and throw three smokes (save one!) to left cave entrance - its close to the camo net cover. After that spam all your 4 granades there and run like Usain Bolt to closests sandbags near camo net. Prone! Your allies will follow you again. Try to stay alive and don't rise your head too much!
Then throw your final smoke to the front of cave and move to the closest sandbag cover. Prone and try to stay alive. You can try to throw any picked up granades but again - do not rise your head! Now the respawning has stopped and allies will follow you. Stay hidden until you are 100% sure that its safe. After respawning has stopped there are still two enemies in the cave shooting at you. Try to snipe them carefully or spam granades. After they are dead - CHECKPOINT! and rest of the mission is easy!

This is a pretty good guide, requires lots of luck with grenades and AI but that's the way this game is. Treyarch really knows how to make an impossible veteran mode.

Personally, this level cost me a lot of nerves. As usual, because the enemy is throwing grenades.
So you have 4 smoke grenades. Take care of them because... at the end of the mission you can’t do without them. The first 2 reference points are not difficult to take. But then grenades, grenades, grenades start... The tactics are such that you also need to kill more, and not just lie back and always strive forward. Where you are supposed to jump over a log in the story, there is a rifle with a grenade launcher (they don’t use it in the video). This rifle has helped me a lot.

When you go down to the second anti-aircraft gun, there will be a small stone fence on the right. There will be a sniper rifle there. Exchange the trench gun for it. It will make further progress easier when you storm the approach to the cave. You can also use it in a cave, the main thing is not to stick your head out.
