the hardest damned level of the game!!!!! there is no cheap tricks to beating this, just keep at it. it will take you a while unless you are some sort of super gamer

Edit: Now i will say this once you get past the artillery part (the hard part) you will have to mount an attack on the stairs of the reichstag, the easiest way i found to get past this part, once you clear out the two buldings your team will move up. at this point get over to the building on the left, use the furthest ladder from the stairs, go to the second floor and you will find a PTRS-41 sniper rifle and a panzershrek ignore the panzer, grab the rifle and start taking people out from the top of the stairs down (this will take about 5 minuets or so) once your team moves up to the car and sandbag barrier, get over to the sandbag barrier quick. once you do this one of the pillars will collapse and a guy with a flamethrower will come out and try to burn you, what i did as soon as the pillar fell i ran back into one of the buildings and let my team kill the flamethrower guy, once he is dead run to the burnt body and the level will end. and you will think you are the greatest saying things like yea bi**h who's your daddy now!!!! even though it will take you about 900 tries to get through it. :D

If your having trouble getting though this level, make sure you update the game on XBL, it makes the Flak gun able to be taken out with the rocket launcher, and fixes the glitch where the falling pillar kills you. hope this helps

Also if you fire the rocket a the Flak gun try to aim near the base of it it worked for me and helped because i got a checkpoint behind the tank.

The best part about playing CODs on PC is the quick save system. Ahhh. The checkpoints in this game are horrible.

I had a glitch where at the end when I was sniping right near where you find the PTRS-41, Reznov came up with me. He needs to be near Chernov for the final part of the mission so even after I killed every enemy the pillar wouldn't fall and Chernov wouldn't move from cover. Solution was to not stay up there too long (I grabbed the sniper rifle and left), makes it a bit harder to kill everyone though.

Also, you don't need to run all the way back to the buildings when the flamethrower comes out. I stayed behind the crates Chernov was behind and I was fine.

In all honesty, every video, or typed walkthrough that I ever saw for this achievement never really helped me (with the exception of showing me where things were.) I would say for most players this level is gonna take you a few days, same as it took me.

Okay so this is a crap shoot every single take. All I know is, the 88s were easier than moving up past the two buildings for me.

If you are too slow or the game does its classic BS your checkpoints will be in bad spots.

There are actually 2 rocket launchers in the section where you need to destroy the four 88‘s. One in the beginning after exiting the tunnel and one after you destroyed the first two and move a little further. It is located close to the small stairs on the right side, leaning agains the wall (of the small bunker/Tunnel on the right. Outside). This way you only need to destroy two 88‘s by yourself and shoot the others. Hope this helps :)

1st & 2nd 88's are easy, then the 3rd & 4th was the hardest of the Mission; took me 2-3 hours to get past that checkpoint, but after that the rest of the mission was a cake walk.

But yeah hardest level in COD:WAW on vet.

I thought 'No fighting in the war room' & 'Mile High Club' in COD4 was much tougher than any of WAW missions.

Now im gonna buy COD2 & COD3 and try complete those; i have heard those 2 games are the hardest of the francise, but hey bring on the nades. ;)

If you get stuck at the very end where the pillar does not fall and Chernov doesn’t get turned into an extra crispy commie, here are a few tips to goose your troops along and reduce the number of respawning enemies:

Clear out both buildings.

The PPSh-41 has no range and is of little help here. Ditch it in favor of the FG42 (left building) and PTRS-41 (right building). Note that there is also an FG42 on top of the building you likely stood on top of to shoot a rocket into the final 88mm anti-tank gun.

Chernov will run to the base of the stairs (left) and crouch there, while Resnov will hang out on the right side behind a pile of sand bags. They will hang here indefinitely until enough enemies are wiped off the top landing for them to advance. Two molotovs, a couple grenades, and a few shots with the FG42 should clear up the respawning enemies and allow your guys to move up. Reznov will yell something along the lines of “Come with me!” to indicate that they are moving forward. At this point the enemy spawns are greatly reduced. Chernov will be crouched behind a car and Reznov will be crouching as far forward and to the right as possible, shooting at enemies that respawn in the windows of the Reichstag.

Now that your guys are in position, go up to the second floor of the right-side building and use the PTRS-41 to mop up any entrenched enemies beyond the barbed wire. If you don’t kill them, they will take pot shots at you and you will need to kill them anyway to trigger the ending sequence.

At this point, there should be no more respawning foot soldiers; only the guys on top of the Reichstag and in the windows respawn, so snipe the lot of them, hop off the second floor and sprint to Reznov. He will yell some patriotic thing and the column will fall, then Chernov will move forward and get killed by a flamethrower. Note that as soon as the column falls, you should sprint back down the steps and just get away from the area. The flamethrower has BS range and it passes through the column, so avoiding the area is the best way to not get killed by the last dose of garbage mechanics in this level.

Understanding the spawns is key to triggering the end. It isn’t really hard, but it took me just as long to get the column to fall as it did to figure out how to destroy the third and fourth 88mm anti-tank guns. Hope this helps anyone who is stuck at the end of the level.

So I finally got this and for me the first 2 flak guns were the hardest. What I found worked the best was when the whistle blew I headed straight over to the left gun and got behind the tank that is advancing. Throw a molatov at the space where the guys funnel through and you will stop them from coming out, you will have to repeat this a couple of times. Move to the right behind the tank and throw a molatov at the flak gun burning up the guys. Then throw a grenade just to the right of the flak gun to stop them from spawning up there. Then run to plant the C4 and just crawl down the steps you are on as the blast will not kill you. They will retreat a little bit and you can run over to the first flak gun and plant it. Once that is done then run back to the room that is on the right side and your guys will pretty much take care of everyone except one on the third flak gun. the fourth one just throw your last molatov at it and you will take them out. Then follow the above to snipe them out. I used the FG-42 because I couldn't find the PTRS.

I definitely agree with DEVIANTX407, "the hardest damned level of the game", I found the other solutions very useful, however, couldn't hardly get passed up to the building to the third and fourth 88. I watched a lot of videos, but nothing really helped... So here is what I did (after I played just this section for weeks):

Take out some Germans from safe cover, then rush to the destroyed 88 to the very left. Hide behind the cover next to it and recover your health (but not too long). You will notice that your tank rushes ahead and explodes.

Now everything needs to go quite quick. Throw a grenade - still behind cover - to the left, then run behind the destroyed tank (possibly you also need to kill a guy or two standing behind the cover, but the grenade will give you precious time to kill them). From behind the tank, throw one grenade to the left and another one straight ahead (or two, if you got one left). Now prepare to run on the right side of the tank (almost all solutions now go past to the left, but there I got shot almost every time) and make your way ahead until a small cover just a bit further than the tank. Prepare to shoot to the left while running forward (you will face some enemies). As soon as you "touched" the cover, run immediately back and take safe cover.

You will notice that your team now moves forward. From behind, take out the guys from the balcony and some further on the background. Now you can make your way to the building. From there, I took first out the left 88. Just make sure that you keep on the very left side, shoot some guys and blow the 88 up. You can now get the panzershrek and try to blow up the fourth 88 (I never managed to get it though, possibly it is easier to shoot at it from the balcony...)...

This is just an alternative to the other solutions. Although, with this strategy I died almost 4 of 5 times before the building, the other strategy hardly never worked (and it gave me some confidence that the checkpoint was closer than ever...)... so just don't give up and eventually you will make it!

This level is very frustrating, but I did notice one important thing; it's all about checkpoints and knowing where the crappy AI spawns! If you get stuck on a bad checkpoint after the first two guns it's best to start the whole thing over and try to get a better checkpoint. Doesn't seem logical (you finally got the checkpoint) but it'll save you a LOT of time! It's faster to do the whole level again and get a good checkpoint, than try to get to the last two guns with a bad one.
I noticed that getting into the little building where enemies spawn is easier when you can get a checkpoint where your tank moves up til the point where it gets destroyed. To get that, YOU need to move forward after taking out the second gun (the one on the left).
First time I did it, I used the panzershrecks to get the first gun on the left and the second on the right, but on my second time they didn't work so I did all four manually. It doesn't matter much, just do the gun on the right side first as shown in many videos, then move to the tank in the middle for cover and a panzerschreck for the second gun, if it doesn't work you'll have to rush the second gun. Make sure you throw molotovs to distract the guys at the back for a few seconds and take out the second gun. Then move FAST to get a good checkpoint. You'll need to move forward, but if you do it here you'll get enemies and grenades all over you so get back to the righthand side of the tank in the middle that had the panzerschreck next to it (the whole right area is clear now anyway), move around it from the right and then move as close to the enemies as you can get. This should make your tank & guys move up until the point where your tank gets destroyed, and you should get your checkpoint while they are moving up. Because you got it here they'll move up everytime you die, giving you more cover. As soon as they start to move, you have triggered them so you can get back to a safer spot. If you aren't fast enough you'll get a checkpoint with your guys still further back and you will have to make them move up by moving forward and you'll have to do this every time you die. This alone is tricky and then after making them move you still need to time it just right to get into the little "spawn building". You won't get another checkpoint until all four guns are taken care of, so you need to make sure you can make it into the little building pretty easily (let's say at least 1 out of 4/5 tries). Having the checkpoint like this allows you to just rush for that little building every time you die, making it a lot easier!
If you have the checkpoint you can prepare to rush the little spawn building. Make sure you have enough ammo (two main guns, a rifle + submachine or two submachines will do just fine, I preferred to have an MP40 + PPSH, but one of these and a rifle is good enough!)
When you rush the building don't use grenades! There are enough grenades flying around your head, plus you probably don't have time to cook them anyway and throwing them without cooking them is just plain stupid. So use your molotovs again (two should do it) and RUN! Don't care about the guys that are there, because as soon as you get in the building you should be safe. It's possible that there is one guy in the building, or one blocking the door. Shoot or knife them and relax once you're in. The others won't chase you once you get through.
Make sure to move to the back of the building (by the big hole in the wall) where you can see the two last guns, and DON'T GO BACK. No matter what, don't move past the little wall that you'll see in the middel of the room until you have shot everything you see by the last two guns, cause as soon as you do that an enemy WILL spawn behind you, so be prepared.
Now, shoot everything you see on your left and right side by the last two guns. Some enemies will come up and shoot you, but it's nothing compared to the rain of grenades and gunfire before, so relax and keep shooting until your men move up (you'll see them on your right by the gun after a while). Don't move until they've moved.
Once you see them it's time to go back through the door. It IS possible that there is still one enemy out there waiting for you and like I said before at least one enemy will spawn behind you as soon as you go back out, so move fast and turn around to shoot the guy behind you. Make sure everything is safe (shouldn't be anyone there) grab some ammo from the bodies outside en move up to the third gun. Kill the guys that are still there, and take it out. The move back again and climb the stairs up the building you were in before, but grab the panzerschreck on the right of the stairs first.
When you get up there fire the panzerschreck at the fourth gun. If it doesn't work you'll have to do it manually, but if you take your time and move from cover to cover while shooting enemies in between you should be fine. When you destroy the fourth gun stay low and wait for your checkpoint... The hard part is over now!
For the rest of the level you should be fine, just read the other solution. I preferred to get into the building in the very right though, but I don't think it matters much, both buildings have a PTRS sniper rifle. Good luck! :)

It is, but if you get stuck in this level it can be absolutely brutal. First time I was ready to pull my hair out and the second time I breezed through. If you are stuck, following this wall of text will make it a heck of a lot simpler and reading it takes less time then getting grenade spawned for hours.

I thought getting through the buildings wasn't all that hard, so I'm skipping that part. The video above is in the beginning quite similar to what I did.
Once I went through the tunnel, I hid behind the first stone wall (next to the blown up tank) and took out most Germans around the first 88. Then I moved up using the cover, got the Panzerschreck and blew up the second 88. Then went back to the first and planted the bomb. Checkpoint :)

And only then came the awfully hard part of getting to the third 88.. those Germans kept on coming, until I found out that, if you get all the way to the left of this field, the Russian tank advances and the Germans stop running in. Then it takes a lot of pain and sweat to blow up the third 88 with another Panzerschreck, and still no Checkpoint... I took one of the Kar98's to carefully take out all Germans (check the radar for their location) while mostly keeping inside the building (to the right of the third 88). When all was clear, I ran towards my comrade and planted the last bomb. Checkpoint again.

For the last part, I first shot the 'sniper' in the top window of the house on the left. I then ran to the house and shot the soldier that comes running from the right. Then I moved around the house to the right and shot the Germans in the back. In war, all is allowed right?
Do NOT enter through the door here, because that will trigger the soldiers coming from the Reichstag building and taking the stairs. You don't want them there while you still have cleaning up to do in the house in front of the stairs. Go back and go up the stairs in this house, killing two more guards.
There are soldiers in the next house; two on the top floor, 2 in the groundfloor room, three behind that room. They have a surprise for you when you think you've cleaned out that building... Try to shoot most soldiers from the first floor of this house on the right, watch out for the last three in the back.
When you've killed them all, I started shooting the guards on the stairs and for a reason I still don't know, I had a checkpoint. Thank heavens :)
I was sitting in the house all the way to the left, hugging the barbed wire along the stairs. I could not see the guy over to the left behind the sandbags, he's hiding. I ran up the stairs, throwing a Molotov first towards the car and then two grenades towards the spot where all the guards will be running from soon. I ran towards the car and turned to shoot the sandbag guy now behind me. It took a lot of grenade returning and shooting Germans that jump over the sandbags. Luckily, most of them only noticed me behind the car when they where on their scripted position, time enough for me to kill them.
Reznov will come up to you and by that time, sweep around the car and head for the sandbags on the right. Again, a lot of grenades must be returned to sender, and some Germans will try to shoot you from behind an anti-tank cross. They never hit me, but I could kill them from my position on the ground. After some time, the pillar will fall down. The first time I got this far, I got barbecued as well. The second time, as soon as the pillar came down, I ran back behind the car. Funny to see here in the Solutions that I wasn't they only one running away :). There were some Germans still running from the Reichstag but they didn't shoot anymore. Walk in and feel very, very pleased with yourself...

Getting through the buildings was simple enough and even the first two 88's weren't too bad. What worked for me was after using the Panzerschreck on the 2nd 88 from behind the tank, stay there until you see you triggered the checkpoint this way if you die you start from behind the tank....then from there rush towards the 88 you just shot at (the one on the left) and go prone so it triggers the tank to move forward while shooting the guys to your immediate right....then throw all your grenades towards the front where all the germans are spawning from...when you do this it will make them duck for cover for a second or two giving you time to get up and run to the cover on the front right of the tank and quickly turning back around and hightailing it back to safety behind the shelter in front of the tank you got the Panzerschreck from....this will make your guys move up stopping the germans from spawning and allowing you to snipe them from a safe distance. After you kill the first line all thats left is the ones to the left of the doorway...throw a grenade or a molatov and high tail it to that doorway....there might be one more guy in there so be careful....shoot the rest of the guys up on the ledge between you and the 3rd 88 to the left and your guys will have moved all the way up by then....use the other Panzerschreck on the 3rd 88 and then youre guys will move towards the last one on the right...stay in the doorway shooting the rest that you see....when you feel like its safe throw grenades behind the 3rd 88 and rush towards it, go prone, arm it and high tail it back towards the doorways...once it blows stay in the room until you see the checkpoint come on the screen. The rest of the board isnt too difficult, if you've gotten this far in veteran, the rest is a cakewalk compared to what you had to do to get to the last two 88's. Once you clear the buildings of all enemies you'll get another checkpoint. From the 2nd floor of the middle building you can snipe the enemy on the stairs without any real danger....after you kill a certain amount you'll start hearing the music playing...that youre cue to move down and towards the stairs...stay all the way to the right, their shouldn't be too many left.....then once the pillar falls, make sure you're not in front of the flamethrower guy. Hope this helps.

So I - like virtually everyone else - had some issues with getting through this level. It's definitely the most difficult level in Call of Duty: World of Grendade-spam ....erm....I mean, World at War. So I too went to the Internet looking for assistance. I started off here at True Achievements (of course), but I found all but one of the Achievement Guides for this achievement lacking. Leibniz's advice was really the only useful guide (and I'm not quite sure why his guide isn't the top ranked guide) - and his advice was spot on.

So I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in and give a complete rundown of how I got through this level (especially since I actually did it twice, due to being a noob and not saving).

There are (I think) five checkpoints in this level, but the first one comes immediately after Gary Oldman's soliloquy, so there isn't much to getting that one.

The other four checkpoints are the heart of this level, and those checkpoints are your TRUE objective. So I break down this walkthrough based on those four checkpoints and the "end mission" sequence.

They go like this (with rankings):

1st checkpoint: after clearing the two bombed out buildings (3rd hardest)

2nd checkpoint: after taking out the first two Flak 88's (4th hardest)

3rd checkpoint: after taking out the second two 88's (hardest)

4th (and final checkpoint): at some point when you enter the buildings below the stairs to the Reichstag (2nd hardest - because you have to be uber-patient)

end mission: column falls, Chernov gets toasted, and you walk out of this mission from hell into the Reichstag (least hardest (surprisingly))

So here's how to do it, succinctly and straight-forward (but you're going to die a lot regardless - even the best gamers can't help but fall to the random grenade-spam).

First checkpoint:

So listen to Oldman's speech. Run down towards the marker (see your map), you'll get a checkpoint while doing this, but that's not the first TRUE checkpoint. Keep going and you come face to face with a barrage of crossfire from your north (just for reference sake, north is the direction of the building behind this first line of Germans). Your objective is to clear out the building behind them, and then clear another building just to their east.

You can shoot these guys if you want, or you can ignore them and go from cover to cover. I would always just sprint all the way to the west, then head north to a section of complete cover just west of the west-most building.

People have commented that your friendly AI is useless, but - when they aren't getting in your way or stealing your cover - they actually have some benefit in this level. If you get to the cover I was mentioning (just to be clear: it's located just outside the southwest corner of this first bombed out building you need to clear), your AI will move up and clear the enemy that was just firing at you.

Now here is where I differentiated from my first run through of this level and my second. You can go into the first bombed-out building and try to clear it, but it will take time, you'll have to use cover and avoid the grenade spam, and the enemy randomly appears on the second floor above and (sometimes) behind you. I would usually die a few times in this first building due to all these factors during my first run-through.

So my advice is: don't go in the first building. Stay on the outside (just south of the building, where the Germans who were peppering you with crossfire as you first entered this section were previously at). That way you can bypass the entire first building. Head east and you'll come to an alley separating the first and second bombed out building. This will do two things: it will allow you to shoot at the enemy in the first building from behind (after you've cleared the alley), but it will also cause your AI friendlies to move up - and generally they will take out the majority of the guys in the first building. While you are out there throw a nade through the window and kill one or both the guys camped out in the dead-end hallway in the second building. Then proceed into the second bombed-out building. Take out the guys at the end of the east-west corridor. Kill anyone who survived in the dead-end hallway and replenish your nades. Then carefully finish off the last few guys in the southeast corner of the building, and proceed outside.

You should get your first TRUE checkpoint here.

Second checkpoint:

(Just for the record, a LOT of people have issues with this section, but it's not really that hard. Once you know where everything is at, you'll probably be able to get this section no problem 7 out of 10 times - and it's only that low because of random enemy spawns and grenade spam.)

So, now you enter a basement area. You have to pause here why Oldman blathers on some more. Then wait for your guys to charge and the tank nearest you to explode. Run to the wall, & cover. From the end of the wall run to a car, and cover again. Finally head right, around the end of the car, north and slightly east to some cover behind a wall (this is east of all the stairs). (Again, for reference sake, north will be considered your final target. In this case, that would be the Reichstag - and you'll be heading (generally) north this entire mission)

Camp here for a bit. You can stand up and see bad guys at the top of the stairs, behind sand bags, and (occasionally) getting on an MG. Kill them while dodging the occasional nade-spam. Be aware that there is sometimes a guy immediately to your right (north) above this broken-out piece of the stair wall. He's annoying, as he'll shoot (and kill you) because you are focused on the guys at the top of the stairs.

Hit your A button and pop up on top of this wall. Usually there is a guy slightly north and west of you, kill him then head north towards the first Flak 88. Camp behind some cover, avoid nade-spam, and take out the guys near the 88. Generally, you can take out most of them with a well-placed Molotov cocktail. Rush forward and press your X button to set the charge (be aware that sometimes there is a guy still alive BEHIND the 88 - so kill him first if he is there). Then rush back to your original cover (on the ground behind the stair wall), as you usually start getting peppered with fire from the west and northwest - and there will be some nades to avoid too.

Now head over to the tank, pick up the Panzerschrek, and high tail it out of there back to the east down the stairs to avoid the nade-spam.

Head slightly west, go up the stairs and quickly fire the Panzerschrek at the last 88. Voila, second checkpoint.

(Now, one guy recommends trying to rush forward at this point so that you get the tank and your allies moving forward before the checkpoint takes, but I found this to be suicide 9 times out of 10. You're going to die enough already, just take the checkpoint wherever you may be.)

Third checkpoint:

Ok, so this is the roughest section of this whole damn mission. But if you read Leibniz's advice, you'll eventually get it. I must have died 50 times here on my first run through (my second checkpoint on the first run through was right behind the tank), before I got really, REALLY lucky and got the third checkpoint......annnnndd.......forgot to save. DOH!!).

My second run through I made it through 3 out of 5 tries - and finally got the last two 88's (and the checkpoint) on the fifth try.

So on my second run-through I got lucky with my checkpoint. I was at the west-most stair and the two guys in the cover in front of me were reloading. So I simply shot the one guy rushing at me, moved north to the cover and shot the two enemies behind it, then ducked behind the cover. After a pause to recover health, I sprinted up the stairs to the cover slightly north of the 88. When you reach this point the tank behind you will move up (as will your allies) and take a hit. When you see that explosion, rush out behind the tank, around its right side and to the cover slightly north and to the right (east) of the newly destroyed tank. Then get the hell out of there. I usually rushed all the way back to the southern stairs, avoiding nade-spam, a lot of fire, and my idiot allies blocking me.

The point is to do what Leibniz's said (for the most part). I didn't do the nade throwing part of his advice (it just slowed me down), instead rushing out past the tank, touching cover, and then high-tailing it out of there.

If you're confused as to what to do, here are you cover points: 1.) slightly north and east of the destroyed Flak 88; 2.) behind the newly destroyed tank; 3.) north and slightly east of the newly destroyed tank (around its right side and to the front of it).

My advice is touch that cover, then get out of there.

Once you do, find a nice single shot long range weapon, and snipe the guys on the balcony of the taller structure north and slightly east of you, then snipe most (you don't have to get them all, but if you can get them before any respawns happen, go for it) of the guys on the balcony slightly lower and to the west of the taller structure. The rush forward, gun down any guys left and the (almost certain to be there) guy who just respawned and is rushing out of the taller structure. Duck into that structure. Take a breath and come out and carefully take out any guys still remaining behind the railing (just up the stairs). Then proceed east and take out the guys surrounding the third Flak 88.

Now go get the Panzerschreck. It's located up the first set of stair, resting against the taller structure. Then head up the stairs, to the roof of the taller structure, around the back and to the east, and take out the final 88.

I had no trouble hitting the final 88 from up there - but if you miss you'll probably have to do a large portion of the next section before you can sneak down and take it out by setting a charge.

If, like me, you do get it, then you'll be rewarded with your third checkpoint - and will have finished the hardest section of this level.

Fourth checkpoint:

This next section isn't all that difficult. What it IS, is painfully tedious.

What you need to do is take out virtually every bad guy you can see before heading down. The best method I could find is to start at the building west of you, (again the Reichstag is to the north) and stark taking out the long-range, far away snipers.

If I remember correctly there are three guys sniping on the west side during this first part. These guys are particularly annoying, so take them out first. Now move back to the roof of the taller structure, and take out the guys at ground level, hiding behind the sandbags whenever you take too much damage. Usually I kept this up until there was one guy left, residing at ground level in one of the center buildings. He was really hard to hit from far off, so I would eventually jump off the balcony and go down and take him out. He's pesky so you have to be careful if you do this.

But you don't really have to take him out. Instead ignore him, bound down to ground level and head east around the last Flak 88 you had destroyed. Move forward to some cover slightly north and east of this 88 (you will be looking down over the cover to a long alley to the east of the eastern most building). Moving here will trigger the second wave, and it will start by having a bad guy spawn at the eastern building. He will run out and get behind cover (along with another bad guy already camping down there) at the end of that alley. You can try to kill him if you want, but my advice is to get the hell out of there as soon as you touch the cover, because you will have just triggered a boatload of snipers, and the obligatory nade-spam.

I would generally touch that cover, then haul ass back west and through the building I had been sniping from before. Once on the backside I would recover health, then sneak back up the stairs and start my west to east sweep again - taking out snipers. There will be two snipers on the top floors of the west side buildings (although they should be directly across from you in your current location). One of them is particularly sneaky - so watch for him - sometimes you have to go back to the roof of the structure to get him to show himself.

After you take those two out, prone in an appropriate location and take out the snipers on the top floors of the eastern-most building. (There's a bunch so this will take a bit.)
Now take out all the guys you can on the ground level. Once you have all, or at least the majority of them taken out from your sniping position, mop up any stragglers and head into the eastern most building, head up the ladder to the second floor and you should get your fourth (and final) checkpoint. (I seemed to get it as I moved towards the sniper rifle.)

This section I rated the second hardest part of this level, both because of the number of enemies firing at you (and, of course, more bad guys means more nade spam), and because you have to be methodical and patient. But now you are on to the end mission, which really is the easiest part of this whole level.

End mission

This section is really not that hard. You don't need to snipe or be patient or anything, all you need to do is get to one particular "safe zone" on the map, and it will be a cakewalk.

So I grabbed a couple of machine guns, headed back out of this eastern-most building, and down the alley to the east of this building. Take out the one or two guys in the little sand bunker/crow's nest area just north of this alley and then head back to the back of this building. Cross to the building just west of you. Pause if you need to, then head out and slightly northeast to the cover at the bottom of the stairs, now sprint to the next cover, around it and to the final cover. If you are in the correct cover location, you are now in a virtual "safe zone". Most nades will do one of three things (and you're still going to get nade spammed): 1.) bounce down the stairs; 2.) bounce over the wall; 3.) land in front of the cover you are currently camped behind. You'll still see grenade indicators, but nearly all of the nades will do no damage.

My suggestion is when you get here, to look back east across the stairs and make sure no bad guys still survive in the crow's nest. There is cover east of you (and slightly north) that bad guys will occasionally crouch behind. You can peek out and pick them off is you so desire. Mostly though I just camped and waited. Your AI allies will have moved up and will be decimating the opposing force. Let them - they're finally being useful.

One warning: every so often (during the first couple of minutes) you might get a nade to the north of you (on the other side of your cover) that can damage or kill you. So once in a while if a nade showed up there and it appeared too close (by looking at the grenade indicator) you can back off slightly south - just to be sure. Once in a very blue moon you might get a nade in your lap - just throw it clean away from you. Don't get cute with it, just get rid of it.

Now wait. Eventually the firing and nade spam will slack off (from one nade every 10 or 15 seconds to one every minute or so). At this point sneak back a little bit and take out any bad guys still up in the windows (in my experience, it will be multiple guys in the western-most upper window, and maybe one guy in one of the center upper windows). Once they are all taken out, just camp a bit more, and Chernov will eventually move forward, get fried, and you can finish this level by moving up the stairs and into the Reichstag (I didn't even see this happen when I finished this level, I knew it happened because Reznov started crying over him).

This really is the easiest section of the whole mission.

That's it. If you follow this guide, you'll still die a bunch, but you'll die a lot less than I originally did - and die less than by following the direction of most of the other guides written here.

Good luck (you're definitely going to need it!!)

And a HUGE hat-tip to Leibniz for helping me get the second two Flak 88's.

How to pass the Reichstag steps glitch

If like me any of you get stuck at the Reichstag steps, assuming you've cleared all the soldiers outside the Reichstag but cant get past the barricades its a glitch in the game. If the column hasn't fallen and your still watching german guards come out on the left side then go and find Reznov in one of the buildings. Push him off by walking into him. When you push him off your squad should start running forward again. The fourth pillar (from the left) should explode and then fall. Voila, glitch passed. Kill the remainder of the germans that come out of the Reichstag and enter the building.

I have not done the last part on this level yet. But here is how I did the x4 AA guns:

Here's how I did the 4 AA guns.

First I must say the first 2 were very hard. But thats prob the way I did it. As I did not use the rocket launcher.

First I ran down on the left side and killed any one standing around. Then I would make my way to the AA gun on the left. Shoot the men behind it and blow it up.

Now the second one I found the hardest. But as soon as I had set the charge on the first AA gun. I ran tight to the edge of the fence next to the first AA gun and shot as many men as pos. Then chucked a Flame bottle over to the AA gun 2. Then I ran behind the tank and shot some of the men from there. Then it was just a case of run and hope. I did it in the end... But I have seen vidos on people useing the rocket launcher.

OK , next your goal here in my books is to get into the small building on the left hand side. Where your tank goes foward and gets blown up. But you have got to watch the men coming out of this building.

Fisrt I would shoot a few of the men around the area in front and as soon as the tank started to move into the area. i chucked a flame bottle at the door. and it was just another case of run and hope. once you get in that bulding your men move forward.

check this out. go to the left hand side in this room at the other end and take out the men on the AA gun to the left from inside the room. then keep pepping out and shooting any men in the area. from inside the room. Then make a run to the AA gun on the left and blow it up.

OK run back into the room again. and hey your men have just moved up again and made life easy.

Now stand the other side of the door and shoot the men on the AA gun from there. Once they are dead just move over to it and blow it up.

Honest the last 2 are very easy. ONCE you get inside that room. thats the hardest part on the last 2.

Ok I just completed this after suffering hundreds of thousands of deaths and dodging over 34 billion grenades over the course of 2 years of pain so it is safe to say i tried every method going to try and get past this level! The last 2 flak 88s are the hardest part of the mission.

The best advice that can be given is to let your squad do the work. Move up then immediately move back to a safe distance. If you are not at the front line of the action with your squad the volume of grenades will be minimal.

Pick off a few enemies from a distance and then you'll see the heat dies down sufficiently for you to move up a bit further. Keep repeating this process and you will get there. I don't deny you'll probably die a few more times before you nail it but patience is the key here. If you go in all guns blazing you will die!

ALSO, i found it is much safer NOT to go through the tunnel. Go up over the steps. The tunnel sometimes spawns enemies from nowhere that will shoot you from behind. All i can say is good luck! I'm sure you have died enough times on this level by now otherwise you wouldn't be looking for a solution!

There are a lot of wonderful ideas on here. This is what I suggest when working on the 4 guns. First, Run up and clear your way to the first gun on the right. blow it up. Then move to the Panz and try to blow up the second, although I saw it happen in vids I never did it myself. Then take out the second after clearing a few guys. After detonating the second, run back to the middle cover and await a check point. Now comes the simple part. sprint towards the open door in the middle. Go in, move to the back after clearing the room and pick off the guys around the second right 88. Then you can exit out the back and circle in front of the 88 and detonate. One you have this done, pick off the remaining guys in front of you and then advance on the right side of the map all the way to the back of the large building in front of you. This will cause your forces to advance and clear out most of the guys at the last 88. Most of. When safe, move to detonate the last. Checkpoint. For hours I tried this level, and almost gave up. THen I did it quickly last night. Good luck

Hope this video helps out anyone still needing this very difficult achievement, even the best strategies will need repeated attempts! I take no credit for the video, just thought I'd share it since it helped me out quite a lot.

Took me 40 minutes and I didn't die until the 2nd set of flak cannons and all you have to do in the first part is use a kar98 and take out as many enemies as possible and they will grenade spam, but they will have about a 30 second spawn break where you can run and plant the bomb. Basically you can spam LT and save your ppsh ammo for later in the level this helps a lot. I found this way easier than Mile high club and good luck to you all!

Hear me out. This isn't terribly hard once you know how this mission needs to be played.

If you try to go full Rambo, you will die.

If you're incredibly passive because you're afraid of dying, you will spend hours upon hours being rained on by frags, dying, and repeating the process.

The key is measured aggression.

First off, never drop the PPSh. Ever. It's an incredibly effective weapon at close range, and as your comrades drop around you, they will resupply your ammo.

So, how do you get past the flak guns? I'll tell you the secret.

Clear out one of the crews methodically. Quickly, but methodically. Nades and molotovs are your best friends. As soon as you have an opening, SPRINT to the gun, plant the charges, and immediately run for cover. The enemies don't seem to track moving targets very well.

If you start getting nade spam, SPRINT to your next piece of cover, away from the nade. You can run around in the open with little issue here, just don't stay in one spot for too long.

Don't throw back any nades after the first one that lands on you, in any given piece of cover. The first one is a warning from the game, telling you to stop camping. The volley comes after that.

Again, the key here is to thin out the enemies around each gun, and then SPRINT to the gun, PLANT the charges, and SPRINT back to cover.

If you get nade spammed, SPRINT to your next piece of cover. Speed is your best friend here.

Each gun is a checkpoint, so once it is destroyed, you're good to continue. I would recommend doing the first one on the right, then left, then left again, then far right.

Don't even bother with the Panzershrecks, they'll just disappoint you.

Always keep your eyes open for nearby cover, and if you get naded, MOVE to it.

As far as finding a safe place to get to in between guns 2 and 3, there is a small, gray, one story building towards the right side, about halfway through the concrete platform.

It has a center wall that can protect you from nades, and there are ten or so frags you can pick up as you need to replenish. Enemies WILL NOT follow you in here, but you can still be shot by the ones guarding Gun 4.

Doing this, I completed HotR on Veteran in about an hour last night, with maybe ten deaths tops. Best of luck.

A couple of tips for storming a square with guns:
1. We don’t spend the Panzerschrek on the first two guns - we will need it for the third.
2. First, it is more convenient to destroy the right gun, so that after destroying the second you are on the left, and the trigger for the allied tank to move forward is triggered.
3. Before destroying the second one, be sure to clear the area to the left of the bunker so that after the checkpoint (especially if you have to replay) you don’t waste time.
4. After destroying the second weapon (checkpoint), do not forget to pick up the panzershrek. Then, shooting enemies, we run into the bunker, press ourselves against the left wall and use a rocket to demolish the right gun.
5. We go out the same door from where we came, go around the bunker. We take another rocket and launch it at the left cannon. The cannon is unlikely to be damaged (I have never managed to blow it up with a rocket), but there will be fewer enemies around it.
6. We crawl up and explode. We run further into cover (beware of the shooters in the ruins of buildings to the right of the cannon), explosion, a couple of seconds... Checkpoint!

With the second Panzerschreck we go into the same bunker from which the third cannon was destroyed and take out the fourth from the other side through the same opening in the wall

The most difficult level in the game is on a veteran, but if you follow these tactics, you will succeed without unnecessary stress. The level begins, we immediately run to the site of the storming of the Reichstag, we don’t linger anywhere, we’ll just shoot a little in the building. In the building, before jumping out the window, we run into a distant room and take a gun near the table. It can be useful for conveniently shooting enemies at a distance, because... has good lethal power, multiple charges and the ability to get close when shooting. We leave the PPSh as the second weapon. While we are running, we are saving cartridges and grenades. We come to the checkpoint in front of the Reichstag full of junk. In front of the Reichstag, a team goes into battle with shouts and screams, mobs ran under the bullets. We don’t run right away, wait for the tank to explode with the script, run to the fence next to the exploded tank, lie down, immediately run to the car, lie down, then run to the right until the hole in the wall and kill all the mobs from a safe place. We climb into the gap, lie down behind cover, crawl out and kill the mobs near the first right cannon, throw two grenades into the cannon left and right with a delay just in case, run to the cannon, crouch and press square, immediately run back behind the bags with the tank or a bench, We lie down, the gun explodes. Now we run back to the hole in the wall and run to the place where the man is standing (the place where the assault began). Along the edge of the location we go to the left (where the trenches are), here no one will shoot at you (they won’t get you) and we stand and wait. In my experience, there is no global infinite respawn of enemies in this game. We take the gun that we took in a distant room, come a little closer to the tank (the one firing) and from a safe distance we mow down the enemies next to the second cannon (the left one, if you look at the Reichstag) and those running up to it. They run actively for about 3 minutes, creating the illusion of endless respawn. We approach, crouching, closer to the fence with the stairs on the left side, and, leaning out, we continue to “mow down” the enemies. Because endless respawn only with your allies they will kill more mobs. Next, a maximum of two or three will run out. We waited for the moment, ran up to the tank, and replaced the long-range weapon with a rocket launcher. We lean out from behind the tank, kill two or three enemies with PPSh, and assess the situation in front of the second gun. Just in case, we throw the existing grains next to it in different directions with a delay. We run to the boxes next to the cannon, lie down behind them, carefully crawl up and lay down the dynamite and immediately run back behind the tank where we took the rocket launcher. Explosion, checkpoint. Everything was done right! Then, while the allied tank is moving (until it explodes), we run along the right side, sometimes bending behind cover into the house on the right. We hide in the house, and through the gap in the wall with a rocket launcher we immediately take out the third cannon on the right along with the soldiers. We run back, take the PPSh and carefully clear out the enemies through the same gap (being in the back of the room, so that there is always a wall behind us), especially on the left side, where the last cannon is located. Having cleared it, we crawl to the cannon, or we carefully run, lay down the dinami and return to the house with the hole in the wall. Hooray! Checkpoint Reached. Next, we carefully get straight to the second building, run into it, go to the second floor and kill all the enemies on the roofs (one on the second floor, three on the next roof on the left). Hurray, another checkpoint. On the second floor in the far right corner is a rocket launcher. We go down to the first floor, through the door we fire a rocket into the enemies’ shelter, change to the PPSh and run to the right shelter on the stairs to the Reichstag, lie down and take out the quickly running up enemies. They will throw grains, we immediately run to the opposite shelter. Here, as they say, for good luck. The allies will move forward and begin to cut down the enemies. The last one to come out is the flamethrower, be careful, I don’t recommend leaving cover. We run into the Reichstag, the mission is completed. Never run into the middle of a mess. Wait until everyone lies down in stationary positions and there are two or three enemies left that you can scare away with grenades or kill. When throwing a bow, I calmly count to 7 and throw. Good luck to all!
