The first jump to get onto the rail was kind of tough since I almost missed that he jumped on the staircase blockade first, but it was a thing of beauty after that...how do people find these things? Especially the part of forcing the general to spawn by jumping from halfway out of bounds?

First of all collect the pistol as soon as the sniper battle ends, you can't miss it if you scan all the tables. now keep hold of the pistol till the end of the mission
When Amsel comes out of the building and his two snipers appear from behind it take them both out as they will cause you nothing but problems, now when amsel moves to the destroyed truck shoot his leg from under the truck and your teammate will inform you that you only grazed him, not bide your time and wait for him to enter his car. as soon as the car moves past the troop truck kill the driver causing amsel to tumble out of the car. simply pull out the pistol you collected after the sniper battle at the start of the mission and let rip, you can't miss and the first shot will kill him.
NOTE : the guy in the video made it hard for himself but you can get it easier.

Does it have to be on a certain difficulty?? coz i did it on recruit but it didnt give me the achievement?????

It doesn't say you need to do it on a certain difficulty. The other objective based achievements do work on recruit if there is no difficulty restriction

The videos definitely help... And some of this has been said, but here is my take:
1. I'm sure you know to grab the piston from the "get the sniper in the windows opposite" section.
2. And when you get to the Amsel part, take out his bodyguard/sniper ASAP (I thought there was only one, but I read two in the other guides here).
You have to shoot Amsel twice (with the pistol).
I found the two best/clearest opportunities for this is when he:
1. Make his first dash from behind the tank to the truck, and
2. When he runs from his car (snipe the driver).
Between these two times a truck with a mounted machine gun will arrive. Take this gunner out ASAP, else it makes your task just that much harder.
I was getting very good at making one shot or the other, but it took forever to get both.
When I finally did, I actually got both shots when he ran from the tank...
So basically, just keep at it.
I was getting to the point to figure out how to use Amsel's shadow, which might help, but luckily I got lucky.

Throughout the mission there is only 1 pistol, and it's ammo isn't full, so when you get the pistol make sure not to waste any ammo until Amsel. In case you are wondering where the pistol is, it is on a table in the room where you have to 1v1 with another sniper.
Once you get to the point in the mission where your objective is to assassinate the General wait until a driver in a car comes to get the general.(In case you don't know when to look for the general you'll know when Sgt.Reznov starts to talk about the driver.)As the driver is going away with the general make sure to snipe the driver when he is in the middle of the arch.Then once you kill the driver, pull out the pistol and start to shoot in the backseat of the car.(But be careful because if you don't shoot in time the General will get out of the car and run.)You will know you killed General Amsel when the screen goes in slow-mo.

This Trophy / Achievement can be difficult to unlock. During mission 4: Vendetta, during the part when Amsel is attempting to escape take out all of his body guards.
There will be an armored vehicle coming from the right, snipe out the gunner. When the car comes to pick up Amsel, shoot him through the doors with the sniper once to wound him and then shoot the driver.
When Amsel begins to run away switch to your pistol and finish him off.
Once Amsel has been eliminated your Trophy / Achievement should pop! Enjoy!

Ya exactly what monk said. I got this basically on accident. I was going for the Gunslinger, but I knew I had no shot at hitting him. Just take out the driver really quick, and then shoot the truck. Amsel should be there already. If he somehow escapes the first truck, shoot the one that's a little bit off to the right and behind the first truck.

I think you don't need to fire at all. After a few failed attempts I took another go. After I sniped the driver that comes along, Amsel made his break. I aimed my pistol like I'd been doing and the achievement simply popped.
And that wasn't unique because a few runs before I aimed my sniper rifle in his vicinity and I was told I'd killed him even though I never fired.

The hardest trophy in my opinion, but it can be done. I'm not even gonna try to explain this one, so a video should suffice. To get a pistol first, after you take out Amsels men and Reznov brings you into the bar, make your way up the stairs and in the room where you face off against the sniper, you should see a desk with a pistol on it. Pick it up, waste all the ammo, then it should reload with 80 rounds in it, a nice glitch.
