This trophy can be fairly frustrating, mostly due to the fact that you can't restart from the previous checkpoint, meaning you have to play through the beginning section where you attack the boats every single time. To minimize your frustration, make sure you have your sensitivity turned to low (pause, go to options, sensitivity). Another extremely helpful thing you can do is turn off controller vibration (hold PS button, controller settings, toggle vibration). Lastly, watch this video as you go through, pausing the game and watching the upcoming segment so you have an idea of where the planes come from. This was EXTREMELY helpful for me. My first tries before doing these things got me about 30 kills each time, the first time I did all this I had 45 kills before the final section (on the front gun) and ended with 67 total.
NOTES: When you shoot a Zero and it begins to smoke, it counts as a kill. Listen to your crew mates, they'll occasionally call out where planes are coming from (it may help to turn on subtitles)

You can save and quit from the pause menu, then continue from the main menu to reload a checkpoint. No need to do the boats section over and over again. :)
It's the tactic I used on the 360 and I'm currently using it on the PS3 to try and get the trophy. Hit 43 zeroes...so close. : /

Tried it first time today. After hard work and doing my best....... I hit 19 Zeros. I guess I'll come back later for this one

For this trophy you have to shoot down 45 enemy zeros (the Jap planes). The planes literally only need to be hit once or twice for them to crash, you dont have to make them explode. A good tip is to turn your sensitivity to LOW. You dont need to save any survivors and take out any PT boats as quick as you can or when no zeros are flying around.

on the first raid, shoot down 20 zeros, if less, menu, save and exit, new game, back (this button continues the moment at which you saved and exited - checkpoint), try to destroy planes in the distance (shoot a little ahead of the target), when zero nearby, smoothly move the left stick from side to side and shoot without aiming. at the very end when they say: zero at 3 o'clock, you can shoot down one by shooting up and to the right as much as possible. + 4 zeros will appear on the left side (2 will fly to the right, and 2 above you and into the distance). it didn’t work - save and exit and load (boot at the moment where many will fly at 9 and 5 o’clock - you just need to shoot without aiming) + shoot down the planes diving in one straight line. The shooter on my nose was not transplanted. play recruit. Set the joystick sensitivity to low; when aiming, do not try to catch up with the plane - very slowly. Raise the brightness on the TV - it will help, because you can’t see it in the distance, and there’s a lot you can shoot down.

I screwed up 53 pieces on the recruit! - they didn’t give me a trophy. Got it on a regular basis.

Due to the fact that the weapons on your plane are not accurate enough, you may have problems killing the required number of planes. At the very beginning of the mission, during the “Zero” raid, there will be a lot of them and you can easily shoot down about 10 of them. During the mission, focus your fire on the fighters. Also try to deal with torpedo boats as quickly as possible when the Zeros are nearby. If you are lucky, by the end of the mission you will have 45 killed aircraft. The complete walkthrough of this level to obtain this trophy can be seen in the video hint .
