How to unlock the Hoarder! achievement in Castaway Paradise - Definitive Guide

There are a total of 96 collectables:

32 Fish
32 Shells
32 Bugs

To donate them, you first need to unlock the Museum on the Northern Island (See Young master, that's real nice of you! for how to unlock it). Once it's available, Harold will be inside waiting for you to donate each item. When you pick up each collectable, be absolute sure you have not donated it before selling it. You will not be able to buy it back.

When you speak with Harold, will be the option to donate something (if you have anything to actual donate). The item must be in your inventory, not your storage. If you have nothing eligible on you, he will just initiate a conversation and you won't be given the 'donate' option.

You will need the Fishing Rod for this. As you're walking along the edge of the water, you will notice a fish shadow swimming in the water. You need to cast your line, attract the fish, then reel it in. You can only catch 99 fish per day so if you suddenly find there are no more fish about, you will have to either wait until the following day to continue or you can use the time/date setting method mentioned in the Roadmap to skip ahead.

When you equip your Fishing Rod and when you stop walking, you'll notice a white circle appear. This is the distance in any direction you can cast your line. When you're ready, hit to set your location and an smaller circle will appear. Decide where you want to cast your line and hit against to do so. If a fish is attracted to your lure, it will swim up and start to nibble.

Every fish will nibble 5 times before you need to immediately hit to reel it in. Note that the time you have to hit varies with each catch. There are times when you can take up to 5 seconds and others were you have but a millisecond. Always be prepared to hit as soon as the fish takes the 5th bite. If you reel in the fish too early you will have another opportunity to catch it but if you're too late, it will swim away.

There are different types of bait available but not all baits work for every fish. Below is a cheat sheet showing you A) Where each fish is located in the museum, B) What they all look like and C) What bait is the best to use for each species.

For the most part, all the fish are pretty common but there are two that will give you the most trouble as they are quite rare. The Spotted Eagle Ray and the Bullethead Parrotfish are the two rarest fish, the latter being the worst. It took about 400 fishing attempts before the Parrotfish appeared so just keep going at it until you get them.

The Shells are by far the worst of the collectables but only because there are a limited number available each day. They are collected by picking them up off the beach and randomly finding them through digging holes. Just as a comparison, I was averaging about 12 shell spawns on the beaches each new day but was only finding one shell every about 25 holes dug so with that, it is recommended you go ahead and use the date/time setting method mentioned in the Roadmap to skip ahead time after you have picked up all the available shells each day. Otherwise, this part of the trophy may take you days to complete.

Listed in the spoiler below is the location of each Shell in the Museum and what they all look like. There will be times where the shells may been hidden slightly underground or in rock walls, so be sure to just keep a keen eye out for their colors and/or shapes. Pay close attention to the Alphabet Cones since there are three, but their names do not specify any color associated with them.

The bugs are not too bad of a collectable. There are plenty everywhere you go and there is no daily limit to how many you can catch. You will need the Bug Net for this part. When you see a bug, slowly approach it with the Net equipped. If you walk/run too fast, you will scare the bug away. If it runs away once, you can still approach it to catch it after it slows down but if it runs away a second time, it's gone.

You can plant flowers to increase the frequency bugs will appear, but this is not necessary (I didn't plant any flowers and was still able to catch them all).

The main bug you want to keep an eye out for is the Sweat Bee (#6 in the spoiler below). This one is not so much rare but it is fast. It flies by at a much quicker speed than all the other bugs but you still can't just run after it without scaring it away. To catch it, you want to have it fly towards you versus you running towards it so just try and get in its path and swing the net when it's close by.

Below is the location of each Bug in the Museum and what it looks like as a reference.

Once you have collected and donated all the fish, shells and bugs, the trophy will unlock.
