To pick up your first collectable, you first need the Quest off Angus to catch a bug. He will give you a net. Now the trick here, is not run at them as they will fly away faster than you can run. Gently nudge the analogue stick to slowly walk closer to them. Then press 
to catch them. The first one caught will unlock this achievement.

It's been a while since I played this game in all honesty. But from what little I can remember, it shouldn't be too far into the game. There are various characters about the map, which is fairly small, and didn't take too long to get all of then unlocked.

There are three different collectables you can get in the game: Shells, Fish and Bugs. Collect any one of these to unlock this trophy.
