How to unlock the Poetic Justice achievement in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair - Definitive Guide

There is a secondary, much easier way to earn this achievement. The Imp enemies, found on a number of stages, have an attack where they take control of you for a brief period. Before initiating it, they will bob up and down for a bit (so you'll know when it's coming.) They will then fly very slowly towards you, and attempt to stab you in the back with their weapon. If they succeed, you will begin walking around and attacking automatically. During this time, your teammates can attack you and cause you damage. If one of them manages to kill you, the achievement will pop. This is how I earned the achievement myself, and I've done so with friends on a couple of occasions since.

The best place for this is on stage three, since there are loads of Imps there. They also respawn in a few spots, which gives you plenty of chances to try. Make sure to lure a single one away to a safe area, so that other enemies don't get in the way. Also, when attacking your possessed friend, try and use melee attacks. You don't want to accidentally hit the Imp! You can also make this easier on yourself, if you or your buddies happen to be wearing equipment which brings your defense too high. Either unequip your good armor before the stage starts, or just make sure that you let yourself get damaged to where your health is very low before the Imp possesses you.

This method is easier and safer. As the suggested, the character to be possessed should have low defense and be at a low HP (enough for a one hit kill by your partner). We went to the Imp spawning point (chapter 3, near the hammer release lever). Have the character to be possesed goto the imp spawn, lead them a little bit away and have 1 imp killed. Just wait for the imp to possess (or dodge his normal attacks) the character and have partner kill the character with one hit. Watch out that you don't kill the imp accidentally -- just do a low attack should work. It took a couple of tries but got it in less than 10 minutes.

I wish I could give a positive vote for this solution, because that's a big revelation to me.

This worked for me. It was easier than repeating level 6 and hoping Dracula would seduce a female player.

Whoever negatived this down is either a friend of the person who wrote the other one, or just an idiot who couldn't follow directions properly. I did not know about this method and used the Dracula one, but I have since helped someone else get this achievement using this method, and can confirm it's validity.

Thank you guys for the kind words. And Yeah, I should have hidden my solution from the "newest solutions" feed. I must have gotten hit by a serial down-voter, as I can't imagine a way to word my solution any clearer than I did. That and, as you said, it works 100% of the time. Seeing as I've only posted two solutions, ever, getting an unwarranted down-vote definitely hurts my percentage. -_-;;

Don't sweat it man, happens to everyone. Myself included.
At the end of the day though I post solutions with the hope of helping others, so you sort of just have to forget about votes and let that be its own reward.
Keep up the good work.

Thank you, and that's very true. It's the reason I've posted so few solutions - I'm really only putting them up to help out my fellow gamers (and in cases where someone else hasn't already thoroughly explained the solution beforehand.) I'm just glad to see, by the positive votes, that it has been helping people. That and, the TA value for this particular achievement has plummeted recently. I guess that could be good or bad, depending, haha. At least it proves that folks are finding and using this method.

i got it on dracula. much easier imho because his possession lasts much longer. it's not that easy to kill a player in the short time the IMPs's posession lasts.

I actually picked this up a strange way...In the DLC I was playing online with a couple people and we were fighting the boss. She did her Possession Attack and seduced me (Alucard) and another Alucard fighting with me. We both just stood there for a few seconds and I slashed him twice with my Yat and killed him while I was STILL seduced and the Achievoo popped :)

Just picked this up in a boosting session. This strategy helped quite a bit since one of the participants hadn't yet played through the game and, as such, we couldn't just go in and fight Dracula. Saved us some time. Definitely gets a positive vote from me. :)

One small tip to add ... have the player who is getting killed back into a corner, so they don't go running off in the opposite direction :)

As of Novemeber 2012, this does no longer seems to work. I just killed a boosting partner with the Imp method, and it did not unlock.

Alright, just got it the usually way with Dracula. One thing I noticed with both attempts, it seemed to be random if I could actually damage the possessed player or not. I'd say 8 out of 10 times I tried to damage the player possessed by the Imp, nothing would happen. Then when I tried with Dracula possession, I couldn't damage the possessed player at first, and it seemed random when I could.

I'm gonna have to chock this either up to lag, or a glitch.

So if this Imp method works for others, that's great, but it did not seem to work for me.

Yes, but, remember that there are countless dozens of Imps that spawn on stage three. You can get them immediately upon beginning the stage, rather than having to wait until the final stage of the final boss. Not only that but, if you prep yourself like I explained, it'll be easy for your teammate to kill you. Either take off all your armor, or let yourself get close to death before the Imp possesses you. Accidentally killed the Imp? There's another waiting for you a few seconds later. Better this, I think, than risking death by Dracula's hand.

As far as I know, this can only be gotten on the Chapter 6 boss' final form. He has an attack where he shoots out hearts around the room in a circular fashion (they look like the achievement as a reference). If one hits a partner, make sure to kill them for the achievement. The effect does wear off after a while, but he does use it a lot.

-----
Thanks to Seraphin Needed for pointing this out: Only female characters can be seduced to the Dark Side.

----
See the other solution for a much EASIER way to get this achievement.

Also, as far as I've heard, he only uses this attack when you're playing with four or more people on your team. I've only beaten him a couple times so far, but it was always with a team of three people. I've still never seen him use the heart attack, so there may be credence to what people have said.

I had a team of 6 beat him, we never saw him use it despite retrying his 3rd form several times.

OK, just had Dracula use that attack for the first time. There were only 3 people versus him and one of the characters (the one that got seduced even) was female. I think that is the key. He can only seduce female characters.

I got this when playing only 2.
so I guess you must have two or more in your team.

OK, going to super-confirm what I said about female characters. I tried soloing Dracula with Shanoa and he killed me because he managed to seduce me. Basically, if any female character is alive while fighting his final form, no matter how many people are actually playing at the time, he seems to use the seduce spell instead of the laser attack (they even share the same glyph if you pay attention).

The fact that he can only seduce females even further-confirms that the spell is identical to the one that the Succubus uses in previous titles. Opposite gender only. I don't understand why, for the life of me, the damned Succubus enemies don't cast this spell (even on males). It would make the achievement a lot more sensible, as it wouldn't be confined to the final phase of the final boss fight.

The rumoured Pyramid stage DLC will probably also make it easier to get this achievement too.
since the stage looks exactly like a level from Portrait of Ruin where the boss is a female egyptian (Astarte) boss whom seduces the male character.

You can achieve this Achievement also in Chapter 7 (Must be buying at the Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 MS-Points). The local boss Astarte sometimes cast an attack with Hearts. Notice that unlike in Chapter 6, only male characters are taken. Female Charakters are resistant against the attack. Otherwise, the other description with the Imps is very easy and shouldn't take so long.

Thanks, worked great! :) Much easier than try on Dracula because many play as a male and not female.

This trophy can only be gotten on Chapter 6 or 7 and requires at least two characters.

Chapter 6: Dracula must be in his third form for this to happen. When in his third form, he will use a spell that casts out heart projectiles. Have a female character get hit with one of the hearts, which will result in the character attacking her allies and having a heart above her head. Quickly kill the character before the spell wears off. It's advisable for the female character to be weak for a quick kill.

Chapter 7: During the boss fight with Astarte, she will do a similar hearts attack that Dracula does. However, her hearts only affect male characters. Again, it's advisable for the male character to be generally weak.

Dracula in Chapter 6 charms only female characters, Astarte, on the contrary, only male characters.

There is also an option with imp. You negotiate with a friend so that he removes all his armor and spends so much health that he is one hit away from death. Next, the comrade runs to the imp (the purple flying monster, for example, in Chapter 3) and waits for him to fly up to his head and lead him (you just need to wait for the attack and dodge his other attacks). All you have to do is hit your friend, ideally while crouched, since you need to kill your partner, not the imp.
