How to unlock the Vampire Hunter achievement in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair - Definitive Guide

This achievement is obtained by beating Dracula at the end of chapter 6, which is actually rather easy if you're using Shanoa. Other characters may have similar cheap strategies, but I can easily defeat him without getting hit using Shanoa. It's easier to do this solo from what I've seen, but if you have a good group that are adept at dodging, it's still pretty easy.

Shanoa's lightning spell, Fulgur (obtained by holding up on the D-pad to absorb the glyph when the flying glowy witch things try to cast it) is pretty much all you need.

Drac's first form is simple. He will teleport around and do one of three attacks. He'll either shoot little fireballs from his cape, shoot bigger meteor looking things in a high-low-high-low pattern (duck or jump accordingly) or bring fire columns up from the ground. You can see where they will be spouting before they do it, and can dodge them easily. He will sometimes do the flame spouts in conjunction with the meteor things, but it is still relatively easy to dodge. In this form, you have to hit him in the head to do any damage. Spamming lightning is a great way to do that, or you can get close and hit him with whatever physical weapons you want.

After you pummel him enough, he transforms into his second form, which is a flying bat/gargoyle/demon thing. He takes forever to actually attack you in this form. You can hit him anywhere with anything and it'll do full damage, so the idea is to stay away and spam lightning. He has four main attacks in this form, all of which are easy to dodge. He can shoot a ball of fire into the ground, which causes a flame wall to scoot across the ground toward you. Jump over it at its highest point. He can also charge up a giant beam (similar to the first boss') which you can avoid by standing in a corner and double jumping right when he shoots it. His third attack involves him jumping away and shooting down little green spores which will poison you if they hit you, but as long as you are not under him or right next to him when he does this, you're safe. He also shoots out these flying skull things that are honed in on your current position. You can lead them away and jump as needed, it looks trickier than it is.

Dracula's third form is where Shanoa really shines. He turns into this flying... thing that is horizontally based. It's the same form he's used in another game, I just can't recall which. He has two claws that you have to slide under to reach his weak point, which is his middle. Physical characters that can't quite hit him from the outside have to slide underneath and attack him from below, which makes things a good deal harder. Shanoa can stand in a corner and spam lightning, never getting near him. His main attacks are as follows: He will sometimes do a claw swipe where he moves to one side and then back to the middle. Shanoa doesn't have to move to avoid this, but anyone underneath needs to either match his movements, or slide out the other side and then back in. He also has an attack where he sends out these hearts in a circular pattern. If you're hit by a heart, you become charmed for a while (this is the only place to unlock Poetic Justice if you're playing in a group) and lose control of your character. The hearts fly straight in the direction they're pointing, making them easy to avoid ahead of time. He also has a laser-type attack that follows a similar pattern to the hearts, but does considerable damage. You can see where the lasers are going ahead of time and can move away. He has a prismatic triangle attack as well, where he shoots triangles that are honed in on your current position. If you're in the corner, you can double jump over the first two, stay low for the next two, then jump the rest. Pretty easy to dodge that. His final attack is a giant dark bomb that resembles the Ultima spell from Final Fantasy 6. It takes up most of the screen, except for the corners. He will charge up a little bit and say "Demonic Mekido" (dunno if that's correct) and let it loose.

Once you learn the timing of all his attacks (which isn't even all that hard) he really is a piece of cake. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll help out.

Defeat Dracula, the boss of Chapter 6. Dracula has three forms, his human form, his demon form, and his final form is a three headed, winged demon.

Form 1: His human form is the easiest part of this battle. First he'll teleport around the room and cast Hellfire, Inferno, or fire pillars from the ground. When he teleports, try to jump over him to avoid damage and keep hitting his head. If he teleports in a corner, jump kick his head to avoid damage. Keep this up and he'll switch to his second form.

Form 2: His demon form is a little harder but still easy if you know what you're doing. He can shoot a fireball to the ground creating a wave, jump over characters and poison them with projectiles, shoot a large beam (like Chapter 1 boss), and summon ghosts that chase you and can curse you when hit. The fireball wave is easy to dodge, simply jump over it. When you see him jump, try to run to the opposite side of the room to avoid poison, or try to dodge the poison. The large beam can be avoided by running to the opposite side of the room and double jumping just as he shoots it. Ghosts can be tricky to dodge but keep jumping and running around. Keep attacking him and dodge all the attacks and he will go down. Then he'll change to his third form.

Form 3: His three headed, winged demon form is his hardest. You'll notice that he has three heads and giant claws, both of which can damage you if you run into them. He has many attacks in this form. He has his claw swipe, he can shoot triangular projectiles at players, and shoot out heart projectiles. When a female gets hit with a heart projectile, Dracula will have temporary control over that character. If a male gets hit, he will only take damage. He can also summon other spells which are indicated by a circle in front of him. When the circle is red, he will cast fire pillars below an ally. Just keep running back and forth to avoid them. When it's orange, he'll shoot a fireball to the ground a create a wave similar to the one created in his second form. Simply double jump over it. When the circle is purple, there will be purple lines all around the room. Be sure to get in between the lines before he shoots his lasers. When it's red and white he will cast Demonic Megiddo, which is a large ball of dark energy that does massive damage. The only way to avoid this is to stand in the very corner of the room. He also can cast immunities upon himself. When he glows dark blue, he is immune to physical attacks. when he glows light blue, he is immune to magical attacks. Keep damaging him and try to avoid all damage possible. Like I said before, playing online will greatly increase your chances of defeating him. If you're having trouble, go back and farm for better equipment.
