How to unlock the Pin-up Goal achievement in Chaos on Deponia - Definitive Guide

WARNING! - BUGGY

On PS4 there is no problem with this trophy, but on Xbox One we've got a problem due to the system thinking we're doing "Cheater" achievement all the time. How to solve this?

First of all: Delete your savegame and start all over again. I'm assuming you already got all achievements so nothing will be lost because you already got them. After deleting them, start again your game and when it's synching just push CANCEL and tell the system not to charge up the cloud save data.

Now you proceed with your new game save data with no save files at all.

As other user said a while ago, play normally without getting any piece of the puzzle until you reach the point when just one Goal is remaining to convinced, Lady Goal. When you reach that point you save the game and now exit the application and restart it.

Now go to "Continue" and now before ending this episode go and take all 8 pieces of puzzle without saving or hitting the menu nor Xbox buttons. In one row you go and get all of them, then follow the game up to the next chapter and when you're on the islands go and take all pieces as well.

It should be fine following these steps, but I sugest you to keep trying this method on different Xbox's if you got them or even trying to play disconnected and trying to achieve it in one row as I said. Good luck!.

THIS IS A BUGGY ACHIEVEMENT

The problem with this achievement is the other achievement "Cheater", because the game will always check to see if you've been collecting the same puzzle fragment at any given time throughout any save you've made, for that achievement specifically. If you've got a previous playthrough of this game and have already collected one or more of the puzzle fragments, as well gone past chapter 2... YOU CANNOT get this achievement unless you delete all your previous saves.

Because of this I recommend getting this achievement BEFORE Cheater. It's also best to do this in one take as well

There are twelve puzzle fragments throughout chapter 2 and 3 (5 and 6 if you have The Complete Journey edition) hidden. They do not give a cursor prompt when hovered over neither do they make a sound when collected. They do disappear when you click on them, however. You are looking for small pieces of paper.

Here are the locations of them
Black Market (chapter 2)

1. Bozo's Cutter: Top right hand corner on the window, there is a small square piece of paper

2. Alleyway to Doc's Office: Far left on the top shelf to the right of the lamp that breaks, electrifying the stick (in front of the first gadget)

3. Doc's Office: On the wall to the right of the table where you get the screwdriver, between the blueprints and window, another small square paper.

4. Tavern: Left of the bathroom on the bench where two beer bottles are placed. directly in front of the only upright one on the bench

5. Marketplace: on the counter of the stall to the right where the man is stirring a bowl in front of 3 people (the paper is red in colour)

6. Old Town in Bellevue: the label on the salt shaker on the table.

7. Gadget Shop: Shelf on your left above the banana straightener. On a box with a "!" on it.

8. Resistance Hideout: Bottom left, on the floor between the plank with figurines on top and the red arrow with a green figure on it

Porta Fisco

9. Quay (First Area): on the floor in front of the turned over box heading towards The Street Canyon (or behind the homeless man laying down drinking if that makes it easier)

10. Seers Tent: On the wall directly left of the couch, above the picture of the green eye

Isla Watchit

11. Isla Watchit(First Area): This one is tricky to describe. To the right of the entrance to the Radio Tower you can see half of what looks like a dark red wheel, directly underneath that (if you can't see it, go to the radio tower and come back and not move, the wheel is roughly in line with Rufus' shoes. The wheel is also a noticeably different colour to the background)

12. Radio Tower: Between the radio tower symbol and the wooden wall to the left of the screen

You should get the achievement after the twelfth one, if you haven't then you've loaded a save and got the same one twice from a previous playthrough.

You can now move on to the "Cheater" achievement worry free

Pin-up parts are well camouflaged pieces of generic background artwork that don't show up as interactible objects when you click but they do show up as interactible when you're near one (unlike the original PC version of the game). When you pick them up, you will hear a short chord and a ding. They don't show up in your inventory once you've collected them, but in the Bonus – Puzzle area of the main menu.

There are eight to find in the Floating Market in Act II, and the final four are in Act III. They can be collected out of order but note that they must be collected in their respective acts, even though you will be revisiting some of these areas in later acts. Their locations:

  • Act II – Inside the Cutter – Right of the radar, in the window
  • Act II – Doc's Workshop – On a top shelf near Clever-Byte, next to a robot head
  • Act II – Doc's Office – on the corkboard next to the desk, above where you found the screwdriver
  • Act II – Tavern – under a bottle near Goal
  • Act II – Marketplace – on an orange countertop at the stall between the exit to the Dark Alley and the exit to Bellevue
  • Act II – Old Town – one of the bottle labels on the table. You cannot pick this up if Lady Goal and Seagull are on their date, so make sure to pick it up before that.
  • Act II – Gadget Shop – On the ! Box above the banana straightener
  • Act II – Rebel Hideout – near Leibold, in the bottom left of the screen. Look for a red arrow on the ground – the part is at the base of the arrow.
  • Act III – Porta Fisco Quay – in a box behind a man lying down (the box behind where you find the power inverter)
  • Act III – Seer's Tent – bottom left of the screen, under the trash can
  • Act III – Isla Watchit - This one's really hard to explain in terms of where to look. Just walk slowly up the ramp towards the radio tower and the hotspot on the right should activate.
  • Act III – Isla Watchit Radio Tower – on the tower, to the left of a picture of the tower

Tested personally, you need to collect it in one playthrough, without loading saves. Therefore, do not rush to start collecting puzzles. Progress through the game until you have to knock on the door in a dark alley. After this, a series of events will begin, after which returning to the city will no longer be possible. Before starting to collect puzzles, the game can be saved and loaded.

The bottom line is this - if you restarted the game, then under no circumstances pick up puzzles in the places where you have already picked them up (otherwise you will destroy your saves). There are 8 puzzles in Act II (in the Floating Market), the last 4 in Act III. When I passed the market, I had 10 out of 12 (I completed 2 puzzles again), and even after completing the remaining 4 puzzles, the trophy was still not credited to me. It is best to make notes where the puzzles have already been selected, and even better (to be on the safe side) follow the tip from Neverko .

I would also advise you to collect it right away (about 2 hours reading the walkthrough or quickly knowing exactly how and what). Perhaps the point is to save in only one window .

because: I deleted all saves, started a new game - and nothing (in two passes).
I did tricks with saves and the master save back and forth, collecting parts, and still nothing.

deleted the game and all saves. and I already got it clean in one go.

as an option: get to the moment of transferring love letters to Goal, make a save there (or don’t) and only then collect everything at once .

You can collect it however you like. Saved and downloaded many times. I even got the "cheater" trophy first. Then I just played and after the last collected piece the trophy fell out. All the pieces are located in the same place as indicated in the guides for the PC version, except for the piece in the fortuneteller’s tent. He's on the bottom left. Picks up when you stand near the exit.
