How to unlock the The Calculator achievement in Child of Eden - Definitive Guide
You should be around these points in each part of the Archive:
- Part I (1:40): 45.100 pts.
- Part II (3:40): 310.050 pts.
- Part III (5:00): 460.050 pts.
- Part IV Pre-Boss Whale (7:45): 546.150 pts.
- Part V Final part: 800.000 pts.
That's an approximated score in each part if you use all three special powers. If you manage to conserve one you'll score 25.000 pts. more. If you conserve two (like I did) you'll score 50.000 pts. And if you conserve all three you'll score 100.000 pts. more.
So you can be under these scores but still make it through.
To get a good score:
- You have to do many "x8 combo" (this requires a nice rhythm in most part of the level).
- Kill all small fish as you can (they are not required to make 100%, but they're important for score!).
- Many enemies seem to go very fast and you can think you don't have time to kill them (and x8 combo?... no way!) Relax and practice, try to listen to the rhythm and try to move faster & faster. It's not impossible, over time you'll realize that you're doing better, trust me.
These things are pretty obvious but I hope these can be useful to improve your score :)
You're right, there're bright sides and my camera isn't good enough to capture all the details of the level :/ ... but at least the video sounds good and you can get an idea of ??how you have to play the level, the position of the enemy, shootings, etc. I just wanted to make this video a little support for the game of another players :)
On hard, enemies shoot more often and deal double damage. On Evolution, this can be a serious problem; this was one of two levels where gold stars were tempered with a need to stay alive. Save as much health for the phoenix boss battle, as that's where it's most needed.
The most important thing to remember is to keep your perfect multiplier going! The multiplier only counts for octa-locks, meaning you'll get minimal points for spamming. For gold stars, you'll want a combination of octalocks and spamming, but if you're not going for gold stars, it's best to always try octalocks, even if the enemy is about to get away. Your purification percentage takes the hit, but you get a few more points out of it.
The video's a pretty ugly run of it, but if nothing else, it shows you don't need a picture perfect run.
Also, if you're having trouble with octalocks, turn down the sound effects in the main menu. I dropped it to about 20% and the beat was very clear for me.
This Gold Star can be VERY tough, the entire level is fairly easy once you know the route you are going to take (where you feel comfortable octa-locking and where you feel you need to use + ). You can use Euphoria at the end of the 2nd last section (with the stingray and the purple shells that spawn before entering the next area) if you need to but it is recommended you save at least 2 Euphoria to get a 50,000 point bonus at the end. The ending Phoenix boss battle is pretty tough because the amount, frequency and speed it launches purple missiles at you. It is advised you octa-lock once and wait for purple missiles so you are ready to take them out ASAP. You should be able to reach the Phoenix with all 5 pieces of health and make sure you do NOT use Euphoria when you are fighting the Phoenix because it will severely deter your ability to get 800,000 points.
