How to unlock the Barbarians at the Bay achievement in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Definitive Guide

This is a strategy for solo hard mode whilst getting both bonus objectives.

Ok so you start of with the commando, this part is pretty straight forward. You get some king onis and should have no issues taking back the bases.

Once in control of your MCV, start to spam striker vx from your mecha bay and also send out 2 refinerys to the south west corner. I put my commando there to guard them. Its a good idea to keep the strikers in anti-air mode until you have around 10-15 to keep the bombers at bay. Also keep an eye out for the kirov bombers and have mecha tengus or strikers shoot them down, they take a good few hits but nothing 10 striker can't handle.

Then you want to get around 7-10 shogun battleships from your dock. These guys can destroy the majority of the allies and soviets bases from the water! Switch your vxs to chopper mode and fly them over to the left side of enemy island, the north west. You may wish to bring some mecha tengus to cover your vxs from the apollo jets, but I tend to just switch either some or all of the vxs to anti-air mode whilst the shogun ships destroy everything in sight. By the end they will have ranked up and have further range.

You can also get the top secret protocol that upgrades your naval units to help. Once you have destroyed as much as possible with the shoguns send them to the right side, the north east and have them destroy as much as they can reach (a star ranked shogun can hit the soviet MCV if you tell it to!) then send in the chopper vxs to destroy everything else, prioritizing any remaining anti-air cannons, air fields and then finally the radar towers.

By now, your shoguns should have destroyed more or less all in range, and you can send in the chopper vxs to mop up. Make sure to destroy all the purple soviet building first if you want the bonus objective.

A few notes once you have your first group of vxs and shoguns and are beginning your assault, put another 10-15 in the queue as some WILL die, then you can send them in if required. You do not require any defense towers for this mission, other than the ones you begin with. However make sure you ALWAYS have enough power as your units build slower if you are low. My nanomachine superweapon was destroyed very early after I had recaptured them but my allies survived and everytime its ready he will tell you and you can pull right trigger over the blue dome thing near the radar towers to initiate a co-commander strike which pauses the clock for a short time.

This is my first red alert solution so I maybe haven't explained this very well, any questions post below and I will answer them.

This is co-operative tips for this mission. This mission is annoying, but here's how we got past it. This was not done in Hard difficulty so no guarantee that this strategy will work for Hard.

Initially, you will have to conquer the base in order to take it over and establish an area. This bit is the more straightforward part of the mission; you'll get King Onis and a Yuriko each so just use them to destroy everything. Here's the important bit: you have to capture the base and defend it for 5 mins *without* the use of any MCVs. What you should do is this. One person will take over a base that has a Dojo, and the other one has a Mecha Bay. *As soon as* you take over the Mecha bay and dojo, you will need to spam units. The Mecha Bay should spam Striker VX's and the Dojo should spam Rocket Angels. The Strikers should be put in their flying mode. For the 5 minute defence period, continue spamming these units and use them to take out the constant waves of sea units, focussing on the incredibly annoying Aircraft Carriers. As soon as the time period is up you will be given a mission to take out radar towers. My advice is to take them out ASAP, as on this mission your base just gets constantly spammed with units and its hard to build anything. Send the Rocket angels and Strikers in as quickly as possible (what we did was send the Strikers on one side and the Angels on another, however the Angels die much quicker, so the Strikers had to take out 3 towers and the Angels got the other one). Because we'd constantly spammed these units there was just about enough to destroy all 4 towers and complete the mission. Bear in mind if you do this strategy you will be too quick for the Soviet subobjective to appear, so if you want to do all subobjectives you will have to use a different approach. This is just a strategy for actually getting past the level if you're stuck.
