How to unlock the Christmas Tree Attack achievement in Cyberpunk 2077 - Definitive Guide

To unlock these achievements you need to have at least 3 DAEMONS unlocked. That doesn't mean you have to summon three infernal beings, but simply have unlocked some skills in the INTELLIGENCE section (under Breach Protocol).
You start with 1, the one that reduces the usage of RAM for the quickhacks, so you need other 2. The first 2 you could acquire from Intelligence are the 1) MASS VULNERABILITY and 2) the one who shuts down all the cameras in a network for three mins.
Once you got three of them, find an enemy, hold LB and start BREACH PROTOCOL.
The usual minigame will show up as usual: now you need to activate all 3 of them at the same time. It may require a bit of practice to form a code that will unlock all of three of them at the same time without failing, some codes are easier than others and that is up to the RNG god.
Try to upgrade your operating system (ripperdocs), the higher the better, it gives you the possibility to insert longer codes. Thanks to DarqStalker for mentioning it.
A little tip I can give you is that before starting to insert the numbers, try to form a mental path with all the numbers, it'll help in not making any mistakes. As soon as you insert the code that activates all the Daemons, the achievement will pop.

Happy hunting!

Can I confirm that, if I'm willing to put up with RNG, that I don't NEED to buy any Cyberware for this? I appreciate its easier to do so, but I want to save my €$. I am Level 5 Intelligence and have 3-4 daemon perks unlocked!

@NoHeroes94, yes definitely, but it could take quite a long time due to RNG. Sometimes it happens that all 3 daemons have the SAME code. It's rare but it happens once in a while.

Good and easy place to do this, is the "Clouds". One of the first main missions lead you there after the Heist / intro of the game.
There are cameras and thugs. Unlock the first two skills (cams and vulnerability) and start hacking.

@Sandre04, you are doing breaching protocol in the WRONG place. If you see the DATAMINE, it means you are hacking the ones that give you money (antennas and so on). You need to do it on camera, enemies. PLUS, we are not talking about QUICKHACKS, but Daemons, which are VERY different. Of course, the achievement is not popping, you are not doing it! You need to unlock perks under Breach protocol, not quickhacks. Once you have done and you do breach protocol on an enemy/camera, they'll show up.

So do you need to perform 3 daemon quick hacks on people and then hack? Or only having three of them unlocked does the trick?

Guys, Quickhacks and daemons are two different things. The sooner you realize that the better.
Deamons = breach protocol
Quickhacks = quickhacks.

As it stated, you need to do breach protocol first, then upload three daemons from there.

Sadly, no achievement popped for me.

Another good tip. Set difficulty to Easy. It REALLY helps on the RNG. I did it in 3 tries, as opposed to 30+ on normal

@TheDylanator36, you might be better trying it on a security camera. Assuming you have the first 3 daemons unlocked you'd need to hack an enemy who's on the same network as a security camera anyway.

i seem to have lost the ability to interact with security cameras. not sure if its a bug or if i have just only encountered ones that aren't meant to be interacted with, but I also can't perform any breach protocols or anything on enemies either.

@Knaussenheimer, did you perhaps change your OS system and put the likes of the Berserk or similar? If yes, that is why, you can only hack cameras if you have an OS with Ram, buffer etc

I'm not sure if this will be true for all, but I was having a VERY difficult time trying to find a camera with three, but I eventually ran across one during the GIG: TYGER AND VULTURE, in Westbrook, Charter Hill (the old woman gives it to you). You need to first go thru a sewer, from there once you're in the room with the Netrunner in the chair there is a door to the left and one to the right (straight). The door to the right, has a second door with a camera, this is the camera I had with three uploads -- this is actually the only camera (above the casino). Good luck.

Probably the most frustrating achievement on the game. Took me around 30 tries with 8 buffer slots, legendary Netdriver mk.5 cyberware, you name it. More likely a poor reflection on me than the achievement, but when it popped I was jubilant lol.

If you have finished all the side quests, the easiest way to get this is have the legendary versions of Reboot Optics and Weapon Glitch which both add daemons to breach. A good place to go is the residence right across from Kerry's.

This achievement must be glitched because it unlocked for me when I successfully triggered all three datamines at an access point.

I mean ... You get XP for Breach Protocol when you do this so it makes sense that it counts this way.

Seems like I got off a bit easier than most.

Fun fact, a christmas tree attack is a real hacking term in which a TCP packet is manually crafted to have the urgent, push and fin flags set to 1 and the other flags set to 0. On a diagram, this alternating pattern resembles lights on a xmas tree XD. Great achievement name! I love it when games put thought into their achievements. I nominate this for some sort of achievements awards.

I'm having a hard time finding anything that'll give me 3 rows to attempt with. I've found only 1 so far, but it didn't pan out.

I wish now that I had targeted this achievement from the start so I might have gotten lucky along the way. My last 2 achievements are likely going to be this, and the one to buy all the cars.

EDIT: I think part of my issue is that I've completed all of the side quests in the game, so my map is empty of events except the final story missions and car purchases.

As an added tip, try to get an upgrade to your cyber deck. One that has a bigger buffer size. The buffer size determines how many codes you can enter during the breach protocol. The default cyber deck with 4 buffer will make this achievement harder, and you'll need to be lucky.

Can´t get this achievement work. Got a 6 Slot Cyberdeck from ripperdoc then equiped every single slot with quickhacks and solved three code rows in breach protocol. Nothing happens. BTW I cannot see the quickhacks been activated in breach protocol screen. There is only DATA MINING_V1, DATA MINING_V2 and DATA MINING_V3.

To unlock this achievement, you need a minimum of 3 daemons uploaded. The first cyberdeck you receive through story progression is the Militech Paraline. It has two base ram, four buffer size and two slots. The main concern for this achievement is the buffer size. Four really doesn't cut it. Visit a ripperdoc and look for a cyberdeck with a higher buffer size. I found the Biotech MK.3 with 10 base base ram, 7 buffer size and 5 slots for 25k eddies.

Now for the daemons, go to the character tab and select INTELLIGENCE then the BREACH PROTOCOL tab. Put a point in MASS VULNERABILITY AND BIG SLEEP. You will have one daemon unlocked by default with the cyberdeck. This puts us at three daemons.

Now it's time to get the achievement. Use BREACH PROTOCOL on enemies or cameras. Make sure there are several enemies along with cameras and other breachable stuff nearby. There should be three rows underneath SEQUENCES. If there are less, then move on till you get three. Once you have three, go to https://cyberpunk-hacker.com/ and input the information being requested. 1. Buffer size 2. Enter Code Matrix 3. Enter Sequences. It will solve the best path for you.

Here are screen grabs of the solver and what the solved problem looks like. I couldn't figure out how to insert screen grabs unless they were Xbox screenshots.

One of THE most helpful solutions, I've ever come across in my 12 years on the site. The mini-game was driving my mental; I just couldn't wrap my head around how it worked. Awesome to know there's an algorithm that can solve it for you. I'd thumbs this up multiple times if I could.

I’d just add that not all puzzles have a 100% solution. Took me 4 attempts before I got the sequence for all 3. Just keep re rolling and trying the sequence solver until you get at full solution

Version 2.0 Guide: The Breach Protocol system & its Daemons are substantially changed in Version 2.0

The achievement is unlocked when you solve 3 sequences in a breach protocol code matrix thereby uploading 3 daemons into the network. Search for an access point designated by a unique symbol. Access points are frequently found on antennas but can also be a console on a wall. Press cn_X to begin breach protocol. You are constrained by a time limit but the timer does not start until you select the first code. You must match your selections in the code matrix to the sequences on the right. Matching 3 sequences without exceeding the buffer limit and within the time limit pops the achievement.

The graphic below illustrates the breach protocol code matrix with a solution for the sequences for the 3 daemons listed: Basic datamine, advanced datamine, and expert datamine. Additionally, an insert on the bottom right shows the symbol for the access point.
Image 1

Most access points require an intelligence skill check before you can gain entry. The lower the skill check the easier it is to solve the sequences for the daemons. The Watson District, where you start the game, has some of the easiest access points. As you progress, the skill checks increase and some are as high as 20. In other words, you would need to max out the intelligence attribute to access them.

@landmineshurt in the comments has some valuable tips: "As long as you don't start the timer, you can jack out and back in to reload the matrix and get a better roll. I do it all the time because even with 8 spots, some of them can't be solved for all three. Also, take the early perk that reduces length required by 1, which reduces the length of ALL THREE sequences by one." The perk referred to is the Forcekill Cypher. It's a rookie level perk at the very bottom left of the intelligence skill tree.

Lower skill check points feature shorter daemon sequences and smaller code matrices. The graphic above is based on a screenshot of an access point with an intelligence 10 skill check. The code matrix is a 7 X 7 grid. The length of the sequence is a variable. I made a save before this access point. Reloading the save gave me different sequence lengths each time. Usually, it provided sequences of 3, 3, & 4. When the luck of the draw gave me sequences of 2, 3, & 3; I solved the matrix.

If you back out of the access point before you solve any of the sequences, you can try again. However, the time is shortened. Thus, it is better to reload a save made just before gaining access. You are permitted some incorrect choices. Some sequences cannot be solved without an incorrect choice. Such a choice moves the digits of the sequences one space to the right in the code buffer. The larger the buffer—dependent on your cyberdeck—the greater your chances are for solving the matrix.

Not all code matrix/3 sequence combos are solvable. Reloading the save file made just before connecting to the access point is often necessary to provide you with a code matrix/3 sequence combo that is solvable.

Version 2.0 changes. This achievement has increased in difficulty substantially from earlier versions of the games. Previously, one could execute Breach protocol against enemies or cameras during combat. You were provided with one combat daemon automatically: Ice pick. You could get additional combat daemons in the Breach Protocol perk tree such as mass vulnerability. The combat code matrices were easier to solve than the access point matrices. They had smaller code matrices and shorter daemon sequences.

In Version 2.0, Breach Protocol opportunities are greatly reduced. There is no longer a breach protocol perk tree. You are confined to hard wired access points: antennas, wall consoles, some select computers, and so on. However, the achievement need not be difficult. Search for low skill check access points in or near Watson. Get the best deck available to you with respect to buffer size. Most importantly, make a save before you access the network. If you are accessing a low skill check access point, RNG will, eventually, work in your favor and give you simple sequences to solve--as it did for me in the example illustration above. If you are lucky, two of the sequences will be identical which means that you upload three daemons by inputting two sequences.

Online minigame solver: If you need help with the minigame, you can use the solver at: https://cyberpunk-hacker.com/
The solver is not perfect. After you've solved a few sequences, you'll find it's easier to solve them on your own rather than go through the tedium of entering the code matrix and sequences into the solver. Nevertheless, the solver makes it easy by requiring you to enter only the first digit of a code. Entering B, for example, automatically results in an entry of BD. The default solver shows a 6 X 6 code matrix but you can enter smaller or larger matrices. The solver often struggles even with simple solutions but, if you rely on good RNG by reloading saves, you'll eventually hit on a combination within the capabilities of the solver.

I'd like to point out that as long as you don't start the timer, you can jack out and back in to reload the matrix and get a better roll. I do it all the time because even with 8 spots, some of them can't be solved for all three. Also, take the early perk that reduces length required by 1, which reduces the length of ALL THREE sequences by one.

@landmineshurt - When you jack out and go back in do you get the same time limit? I don't. I start with 30 seconds. If I press B to back out before selecting a code and go back in, I get only 22.5 seconds the next time around.

This one doesn't require you to spend any Perk points on the Breach Protocol tree but will be way less complicated if you do.

Firstly, when scanning enemies, you'll see the Breach Protocol quickhack then you'll have a mini puzzle to complete to succesfully upload daemons that will weaker your enemies (or disable cameras/turrets etc.). For that you will need to buy the daemons in your Breach Protocol tree with Perk points but it is not necessary as you can also find access points (and computers) that will have 3 daemons to upload without buying any of them. By all means, buy at least the cheapest daemons so you can attempt it pretty much on every situation.

Secondly, there are some Perks that make this way easier and way less luck-based. The Head Start perk that automatically uploads the first daemon and the Compression perk that reduces the lenght of the sequences but for these you will need to have 18 and 20 Attribute points on Intelligence so make a backup save before doing that.

Now for the actual puzzle, you'll have a board with numbers/letters on the left and the 3 sequences you want to complete on the right but you cannot just click whatever code you want, you can only click on a code on the first line, then on whatever column that the previous code wasn, then on the same line as the previous code, etc.

For example:

1C 55
1C BD 1C
1C BD

Clicking on 1C, you'll have:

1C 55
1C BD 1C
1C BD

Then clicking BD:

            1C 55
1C BD 1C
1C BD (this deamon is installed)

(You fail the first sequence as you didn't click on a 55 so you have to restart it but it also pushes the codes to the right and there's only 4 spaces so in this case there was still some place, though if it was a 3-number sequence it would have failed)

Then clicking 1C:

            1C 55
1C BD 1C (this deamon is installed)
1C BD (this deamon is installed)

Then pressing 55 to install the last one.

This was an example without any perk to make it easier but most of the time it'll be impossible to solve them all 3 in the same quickhack as you'll get 3-numbers or even 4-numbers codes so save your game before buying the Perks and attempting this, then reload when it's done to save your points.

Note that you can also "reload" the quickhack if you're not happy with the sequences, just quit and retry (there is a cooldown timer) but it's only possible if you haven't succesfully completed a line.

If you build into the Intelligence attribute and use a hacking playstyle, you will likely unlock this achievement naturally as you progress. However, if you just want this achievement without having to build into Intelligence, I will describe the easiest way to get it.

First, you'll need to save up two perk points (not attribute points). You don't need to spend any attribute points on Intelligence. Once you have two perk points saved up, you'll then need to locate an area with at least one enemy AND at least one security camera. If there are no cameras, or no enemies, this won't work. Once you've found a suitable area (there are many during gigs, side jobs, and main jobs, and some NCPD hustles are in locations with cameras, so keep on the lookout), you can make things much, much easier on yourself if you also have around €45,000. Head to a Ripperdoc and buy an operating system with a higher buffer number. This gives you more allowed inputs during Breach Protocols. It's not required necessarily, but it will likely save you a ton of reloads and time. Make a manual save before buying it if you don't want to waste your money. Now, open up your Character, go into Intelligence, and use your two unspent perk points to buy Mass Vulnerability and Big Sleep. These are two daemons; you start with a third, called Ice Pick. Now make a new manual save at the location with the enemies and cameras, with the operating system installed and your two daemons purchased.

Scan either an enemy or a camera in the area (doesn't matter which), and choose Breach Protocol. You should see your three daemons listed on the right side, along with the input codes required to activate them. This is where you will unfortunately have to rely on some luck. Since the input codes are randomized, you'll need to review the codes for each of the three daemons, determining whether or not it will be possible to input buttons that will activate all three in one go. Many times, it won't be possible and you'll need to reload your manual save and try again. Having 6 or even 8 available input slots makes it much quicker to find a set of inputs that is possible. While I can't give a solution that will work 100% of the time, I will give an example below to demonstrate how to figure it out, for those who may have a hard time with this minigame.

Let's say these are the inputs required for your three daemons:

1C BD 1C
E9 1C 1C
BD 1C 55

If you only have four input slots available from the default operating system, you'll need to reload, as this isn't possible. But, if you have at six input slots available, you could input E9 1C 1C BD 1C 55. This will activate all three daemons. The second 1C will activate the second daemon, then the third 1C will finish the first daemon, and you'll already have BD and 1C done for the third daemon, so that last 55 will complete the third daemon.

So you essentially need to get lucky with some input overlap, allowing you to overlap the ends of each input. It is possible for daemons to only need two inputs, and sometimes they need four inputs. This is completely random, and is not dependent on your level of Intelligence or any perks. Once you have a set that looks doable, before actually choosing your first input and starting the breach, do a dry run in your head so you don't run out of time. Trace a path out and memorize it, then do it for real, quickly, before time runs out. Once you're finally successful, and three daemons light up green, this achievement will unlock.

You need to level up these 3 abilities in the intelligence section and you can hack on an enemy or on a camera. In this situation, I completed the trophy through the cameras.

If you do it through the camera and don’t understand why it allows you to send only 2 scripts out of 3. Before hacking, first turn on the camera - and only then do the hack, the third script will appear.

Firstly, you only need to put 2 points into spells

And secondly, if someone does not understand the essence of the task, you need to close three “demons” in one go (best done on any camera)

Based on the tips above, I didn’t understand at all what was required, especially after the interface change in update 2.0
In short, when you hack a terminal, a green one with letters like 1C, BD, 9A and so on, there are usually 3 combinations, for each they give you nice things, from currency to details for scripts.
You need to hack all three at once on one computer, which is quite simple
Mb it will help someone

I completed this trophy at the beginning of the game at the end of the first act in the "robbery" mission, when Jackie and I were retreating. I hacked as I was moving towards the exit of the building, I don’t remember exactly which remote control, where it was possible to activate all three scripts at once and everything was ok without leveling up the skills that were shown above. And then I came across computers or other electronics that had three scripts. Quite often I cracked all three at once, if the volume of sequences allowed.

The entry point to Arasaka is perfect for this trophy, when according to the plot you are supposed to get there with Takemura. There is a fast travel point next to the factory. You aim at the turret from above without even entering the plant and hack it. She has 5 easy protocols. Even if they made a mistake in 2, they will still count it, because... You only need 3 protocols.
