I did this on Stage 2 in Super Easy mode with freeplay on.
The 777 number that is important is the one in the red box in the top left of the game hud (not the stuff on the borders). It's below your score and next to your number of ships.
Play through Stage 2 and use the save feature as you progress. Towards the end of the level as you reach ~700 make a save and try and get 777 before the boss starts. It will take you a few tries but you'll eventually get it then make a save with 777 and don't kill or collect anything.
Start the boss and bomb him until you don't have any bombs left and let him kill you. When you start on a new ship/continue do not collect any of your power ups, just bomb away then die again. Repeat until the boss dies and move to the side of the screen as he may drop some cyborgs.
