**First switch to Super Easy mode in the settings**
To enter Time Attack mode you have to insert a coin (
by default) then hold down the A and B buttons whilst pressing Start (
then

The hidden objects are pillars you have to hover over (they raise from the ground) then shoot. If you are on super easy their position is show by a flashing yellow circle.
