How to unlock the The Forgotten Adventure achievement in Dark Cloud 2 - Definitive Guide

This is actually quite a simple battle to win, it just requires a bit of preparation first and you're golden.

This is the last battle of the game and there's no save point afterwards, so there's no reason to hold back on using items, so make sure to keep your life topped up to maximum and keep an active Stamina Drink effect and you should make it through fine.

The big issue with the fight is simple: the Dark Genie acts like a parade balloon and floats around overhead the entire time, never once coming down to the ground just flying back and forth across the battle map, meaning the only way to hurt him is with your person's ranged attack.

What makes the fight challenging is how he will spawn about half a dozen or so minions that constantly try to punch you or get you with a ranged goo attack. The Dark Genie himself will use his only active attack rarely, a massive orbital laser purple beam of death that sweeps across the centre of the area and can one shot you if you're unlucky enough to be hit, so having Resurrection Powders equipped is a must, as well as a handful of Anti-Goo Amulets.

The trick to the fight is that you can only hurt the Dark Genie while it's spawning minions, so either you have to try and actively kill these annoyances as they constantly swarm you (and deal with the problem that the game won't let you lock on to anything but the boss himself), or you wait for the massive purple beam of death to sweep the field as it damages the minions as well.

I preferred to use Monica as her ranged magic attack is a homing missile, so it doesn't matter what direction she's facing as long as she's locked on as it means she'll always hit.

I did this fight with Max with a maxed-out Supernova. You should have plenty of Premium Chicken and Stamina Drinks in inventory.

The Dark Genie will send out a ton of little genies to attack you while he floats around in the sky. This smaller enemies are infinite; they never stop coming, so keep your attention focused on the big one in the sky.

Use a Stamina Potion to increase the damage you do. It also raises your defense, which you'll need since you're constantly getting swarmed.

Lock onto the big genie in the sky and just keep shooting him, healing as needed with Premium Chickens. If you're getting overcome with little genies, run or clear some of them out with the Ridepod - just don't get so sidetracked by the little ones that you quit chipping away at the big one. Rinse and repeat until it's dead. It shouldn't take long.

Story related and cannot be missed.

The Dark Genie is found in the Zelmite Mine Depths. To get to the depths, you will first need to get through the massive dungeon. There are 38 floors in total. Getting through can be a challenge, but you will need to be up to it if you want this trophy. Keep in mind that all of the monsters you face here are simply powered-up versions of the monsters you've already seen. Abuse the block button, keep plenty of healing and recovery items, and you'll get through.

Before you go to the Depths, make sure you have the following:

  • A full stock of Premium Chicken
  • A full stock of Stamina Drink
  • A Supernova with very high Power and Exorcism

When you get to the Depths, you will not be able to advance due to a large rock. You will need the Dynamite, which can be found in the room Dead End 3 after taking care of the 2 mini-bosses there. Once you use the dynamite, there will be a cutscene, revealing the final boss. After the cutscene the fight will begin.

He will start off by flying around, spawning little clones. Take those things out, as they can do some damage. You can't hurt the real one quite yet, so make sure you don't take too much damage. Remember how the fight with Dark Element worked? Same rule applies here. When he glows blue, that is your time to strike. Power up with the stamina drink and start shooting the guy, while avoiding both his attacks and any clone's attack. If you see a pink beam, that is your time to RUN, as that can potentially one-hit you. Keep this up, heal if you need to, and you should eventually be able to beat him. Congratulations!
