Is there a way to get both achievements in one playthrough?

Possibly if you backup your save with a usb stick, right before you make the decision. I am not entirely sure that would work, because it is untested, but I would guess that it would.

This game takes at least three play-throughs to complete though(I am pretty sure.).

I had a fully upgraded Silver Knight spear with a slightly upgraded greatshield of Artorias and Mask of the Child. This requires a high strength, but you can poke him to death from behind the safety of the shield (attacking while holding this shield does NOT leave you open to attacks; it's awesome)

Also, after finally getting this ending, I finally understand what this achievement icon is. Haha

My new game+ playthrough was smooth sailing until I reached Gwyn again, he's eating me alive.

There's an achievement for getting them all and it won't unlock if you usb backup just to get the other ending as you have to get both endings a single save of course.

When i eventually get up to this i will test out the usb trick myself, does the achievement pop as soon as you light the bonfire? Cause if i does couldnt you just dashboard it?

I am pretty certain I remember the achievement popping during the end cut-scene, and this game auto-saves quite frequently.

The game doesn't allow copying saves either, so you can't easily backup a save.

Just want to suggest a few things for those who haven't yet defeated Gwyn: you'll do well to have the Black Knight Shield equipped - it gives you the ability to parry him if you want to try that, and also gives you heavy physical and fire resistance (just the kinds of damage that Gwyn does!)

Before crossing the door to his room, feel free to apply any useful buffs you might have - the stamina-boosting grass or Replenishment miracles might be wise.

As far as actually fighting him, you can either attempt to parry several of his types of blows (you'll probably know how to do this by the time you get here), or you can just bring a lot of pyromancer spells with you, especially if you have Quelana's ascended flame, and burn him to a crisp. Oh, oh, I'm sorry - to "Cinders".

Just to clarify, when Carlos Again says "turn your back and walk away" he means walking back out the door you came in. I spent a full two or three minutes trying to find another door out of the room. Embarrassing.
