How to unlock the Deep Cleansing achievement in Dead by Daylight - Definitive Guide

This achievement isn't all that hard but your ability to gain progress towards it is completely random.

You'll notice these bundles of sticks and skulls placed around the map and when you approach them you'll have the option to "cleanse" them.
'Simple enough, just do that ten times' you might be thinking. You would only be half way right. You do have to cleanse them but only when they're glowing. When do they glow? Only when the killer player has a totem based perk.

Below is an image that shows when a Hex totem is normal or if it is powering a killers perk:

So cleanse ten of the glowing Hex totems over any amount of matches and you'll get the achievement.
Couple small things to note.
Once that Hex totem is destroyed, the killer will lose the perk linked to it so some killers might be extra protective of them so just be ready for the killer to bee line in your direction at any moment.
Next thing is that where the perk totem spawns is random, so if you happen upon one totem and it isn't glowing, that doesn't mean none of them are glowing. I believe five spawn every time and a killer can have up to four perks so it's possible multiple totems could glow. Although it's more likely that in most of your matches none of them will be glowing.

One final tip is that the perk SMALL GAME can be immensely helpful. It will make this little gong noise when you camera is facing in the direction of a totem or a trap. Obviously its important that it helps you in finding the totems as sometimes they can be crammed in random spots you might completely miss. Then when playing against the Trapper of the Hag it will let you know where the active bear traps and duplicates are so you can avoid them for longer survivablity.

Unless you boost this, it should take you a while to get this.

Thanks for the tip. I had no idea it was purely the glowing ones that counted towards the achievement smile

Also, is the little primitive triangle symbol on the right middle of the screen the indicator that the killer is using the hex perk? I've only seen it once and was offed before I could investigate.

Yes, that's exactly what the icon means. Sorry I haven't updated this. I've been meaning to add tons more info like how totems can become Hex if a killer has perks that only activate once survivors powered up the necessary generators for them to escape.
I'll do that in a day or two.

Once you hit around survivor rank 10 you will start to see hex:ruin in most games. This is a good opportunity to get the achievement naturally

The Detective Tapp's unique perk "Detective's hunch" helped me find my last 4 hex totems in 4 games. When a generator is completed, it shows you the locations of all totems (among other things) within X meters, there's a good chance some of them will be Hexs.

For this achievement you MUST destroy the ones which related to Killer's Hex perks.

How to notice hex totems: actually they are easy to locate, there is a lit candle below them and it makes such a little noise like the fire barrels.

normal dull totems will not be counted towards the achievement.

Hex totems, unlike Dull Totems, have fire underneath them and glowing eyes. Depending on the perk that is on the totem, the killer may be notified when you start working on their hex totem.

You'll want to keep an eye out for text on the right side of your screen at says "Thrill of the Hunt." If you see Thrill of the Hunt, then the killer will be notified any time you begin cleansing a hex totem. For this reason, the best time to cleanse a hex totem is after another survivor is hit or picked up from dying state by the killer. After you finish cleansing the hex totem, a loud thunderous sound will notify everyone on the map so be sure to leave the area.

This trophy is cumulative and will require several matches to complete, as hex totems appearing on the map will wholly depend on the killer's loadout. The trophy itself will unlock after you cleanse your 10th hex totem.

Cursed ” totems need to be cleansed. They differ from ordinary ones in that they have candles. They are easy to spot. Appear after the killer installs one of the " Corruption " perks

Place a pink card with a stamp or a green card with a stamp and a red twine rope, which allows you to track killer's belongings (hooks, totems, witch and trapper traps). Every third killer uses the corruption perk, especially at red ranks. A card with a green stamp (odd stamp) copes well with the task in this regard, because the range is much greater than the 12 meters of the small games perk, and it’s better to take the slot with a more useful perk.
