How to unlock the Escape Artist achievement in Dead by Daylight - Definitive Guide
No longer a difficult achievement to get. Get Adam Francis and use his deliverance perk. You need to rescue 1 survivor and make sure they do not get downed before you get the points for a safe hook rescue. The next time you are hooked try to escape and you will have 100% chance to free yourself.
Make sure your deliverance perk icon is lit before you get caught.
This perk will not work if you have been hooked once in the match already.

I did this twice and achievement did not pop. Did they make it so this doesn't work now?

I'll try it tonight, and let you know what my results are

Before trying to escape from the hook, lets remember there's only a 4% chance that you will successfully get off the hook.
My method:
- Got together with two other friends, we all used burn cards that "slightly increased survivors luck" or "significantly increased survivors luck" (which stacks) and it significantly increased my odds of escaping the hook. Escaped the hook on my first attempt and ran to safety, was healed and stayed out of sight until an escape door was open. Got the achievement!
Tips:
- Make sure to group up and stack "Increase survivors luck" burn cards.
- Try to have two-three generators completed before getting hooked (since you still need to escape after unhooking yourself).
- Don't attempt to unhook yourself while the killer is in the vicinity. They will quickly turn around and run back before you can get away.
Helpful: Have a Claudette with the perk that allows her to see injured survivors so that she can quickly find and heal you.
PS. It's not going to happen in the first game and killers are not going to have remorse just because you managed to escape the hook. I've escaped the hook plenty of times and was tracked and hooked immediately after. After you manage to unhook yourself, just be cautious and play smart!
Good-luck!

Your chance to escape from the hook is about 4 % ... so to be honest you should never ever do it in a normal round because it has very low chances of success and at least you steel you and your mates important seconds.
But with the perks 'Up the ante' (Ace), 'Slippery meat' and a 'Vigo's Jar of Salty Lips' offering you can increase your escape chances significantly.
Ace's perk on tier 3 and the offering will give you a 16 % chance (instead of 4 as default) of escaping the hook by your own as long as all survivors are alive. With the 3 bonus attempts of Slippery meat (tier 3) your chance of getting NOT off the hook is only at about 35 % (0,84^6) and consequently your escape probability is at 65 (64,87 to be correct) %. This is no insurance of getting free at all, but within a few rounds you should manage to do so. Then all you have to do is escaping. The hatch seems NOT to trigger the achievement thus you have to go threw one of the exit gates.
Little mind game: With all 4 Survivors bringing in the luck Jar and the Ace Perk you will have a huge luck percentage of 49 (!!!) % as long as all survivors are alive. Combined with 'Slippery meat' your chances of getting off the hook in one of your six attempts is about huge 98 (98,24) %. I never played a full survivor luck build but it sounds like very much fun.
Worth an attempt and with this build you should be able to unlock the achievement very quickly.
Have a nice day and see you in the fog.

In times of the new Adam perk "Deliverance" you should be able to unlock this without the need of the above shown luck build. Just play stealthy from the beginning (not the nicest of team plays) until another surviver is hooked, hurry up to catch him from that hook when it's safe and get hooked on your own afterwards. Now you have a 100 % chance of escaping from the hook until you come into the struggle time.
ByeBye and good escaping everyone. :-)

after a killer got you and hook you up you have about 3 chance to unhook yourself with a 4% based chance to do it. The chance can be upgraded with offering or even some skill. If you unhook yourself after that you have to survive. to survive you can start 5 generator, found the hatch if you are the last survivor(you need 2 generator done for the hatch to appear on the map randomly) and if you have a key and found the hatch with more survivor you can escape !
In order to earn this trophy, you must unhook yourself as a survivor and escape the match through the exit door. The trophy will not unlock if you escape through the hatch or if the killer leaves. It is very important to note that if you escape the hook yourself, you can not work on generators or doors yourself before you escape or the trophy will not unlock.
As a survivor, you can only unhook yourself while you are in Stage I of being hooked. The chance of getting off the hook yourself is extremely small, but you can give yourself a better chance by unlocking and using a skill called Slippery Meat. Slippery Meat gives you a maximum total of 3 additional chances of getting off of the hook yourself before you enter Stage II. Additionally, the luck stat increases the chances of freeing yourself from hooks. Ace has a perk called Up the Ante that can increase your luck by a maximum of 9% per person using the perk. Offerings can be used to increase luck by varying amounts, and these offerings do stack, but they will not guarantee success. This trophy is luck-based, so it may take more than a few games to earn.

I would recommend you use a perk such as Deliverance to ensure you can escape. Also burn a luck offering to give yourself a better chance.

If you are hung on a hook, then it becomes possible to get off it on , but the chance to jump is 4%. Many maniacs camp with a hook, but if you are lucky and the maniac moves away from the hook, you can try your luck. The following offers can help with this: Black salt statuette (Green, per team), Ivory chalck pouch (green, individual), Salt pouch (yellow, individual), Chalk pouch (brown, individual). Perks: Sleappery meat (general), Ap the ante (Ace). With them, the chance of getting off the hook is many times higher. But we still have to escape...

If you were lucky to jump, but then you were still on the hook a second time and you were taken off, then after entering the gate the trophy will still fall out. So try to get off more often, for example, when they are already running to film you, and there is a lot of time before the second stage, then you can try to jump off twice.

With the advent of the new survival Adam and his Deliverance perk, this is much easier to do, because he can jump off the hook with 100% probability if certain conditions are met.

The trophy seems to be bugged. I got it by escaping through the gate, missing only one hit (not treated) and never hanging on a hook. In the previous skating rink, I jumped off the hook for the same survivor, but died.
