How to unlock the Humanitarian achievement in Dead by Daylight - Definitive Guide
Status effects are the blue icons in the bottom right or yellow bonuses on the right. Many perks offer bonuses, so anything that affects a teammate can be used. For the sake of getting this achievement done as fast as possible, use the Ace perks Up The Ante and Open Handed. Because both perks affect the whole team and do so immediately, you will receive 12% progress simply for spawning in.
In order to do this you will either need to unlock the survivor Mikaela Reid and level her up or simply buy the two perks; "Boon: Shadow Step" and "Boon: Circle of Healing", when they're in the Shrine.
Now with the prerequisite out of the way I'm going to be completely honest with you here.
I HAVE ZERO IDEA WHAT EXACTLY MAKES PROGRESS GO UP!
That said, I have a general idea. If you equip both of the above mentioned perks and you boon (or "Bless" as the in-game prompt calls it) a totem, you'll automatically get some progress just from the totem affecting you. You will get subsequent progress towards this for each other player that gets in the area of your boon'd totem.
Now while I'm not sure if simply walking in an out of the area of your totem will jump progress up, I do know for a fact if you boon another totem then you definitely will get more progress.
So with this information, you now know you can easily go back and forth to two totems and just keep booning them.
It's very possible to get this done in a single match if that's all you focus on.
If you do want to play the match seriously, only do this a few times for the purpose of putting the totem bonus in an advantageous spot for you and your team. Playing the game normally like this should still get you the achievement in two to four matches.
If you're new to the game and don't know what a totem is, they're these little bone structures that form a triangle scattered across the map. The game always spawns five of them. You and other survivors can get rid of them by Cleansing them. Obviously you don't want to do this because it will lower the amount of totem you can boon/Bless for this achievement.
Most totems will be just a pile of bones which is called a Dull totem but every once in a while you might see one with an orange flame in it. These are called Hex totems and they usually give some type of buff to the killer. Booning these totems gives you no extra benefit to your booned totem and actually takes longer to boon than an unlit Dull totem. At some point you will need to boon 20 Hex totems for another achievement but you'll unlock this one well before that one.

It may be unintended but I seem to be making progress when I walk within range of someone else's boon totem. Or it could be some of the perks I've been using. Either way I haven't used and Boon perks yet.

Great guide. There are more than just the boon positive status effects. Using both the new boon perks are probably the quickest way to get this. Using "Barrowed Time" gives a positive status effect; endurance. Other perks like "Up the Ante", "Leader", "Prove Thyself", "Vigil", etc.
