Knock down an enemy with Contact Beam Alt-Fire then kill it with Primary Fire before it stands up

11.3%

How to unlock the C-Section achievement in Dead Space 2 - Definitive Guide

Use a Contact Beam on any Necromorph but hold LT (to aim) and Press RB (to knock it down with it's ALT-fire). Now it should be on the ground. Quickly, charge the Contact Beam (hold RT) and kill it before it gets up (let go of RT)!

Just a hint to make it easier for those who (like myself) found the timing to be quite tricky.

Once they've been knocked back, QUICKLY STASIS them.

Then charge the Beam and kill the necromorph. This doesn't mean you have to rush to pull it off and you'll get the achievement much more easily.

I dont think it is possible to get this achievement on casual difficulty. I use the alt fire and instead of knocking them back it quickly kills them. I am only on the 2nd chp so maybe I need to try it on the harder enemies but for now I cant do this

I did this on Zealot, and even on Zealot, the Alt-Fire for the Contact Beam was killing most Necromorphs outright. I had a fully upgraded Contact Beam, though, so that could have been a contributing factor.

What I ended up doing is killing one of the advanced Slashers that tries to ambush you in one of the AI core rooms right before the Solar Array section. It was tough enough to survive the initial blast, and then the main beam killed it easy.

My best advice for weaker enemies would be to try and hit them with the outer edge of the ALT+ Fire blast if possible and not let them get in close to you at ground zero. The damage from the blast seems to weaken as it travels away from you.

IGN has special video for dead space 2 achievements.
In this video it will show you how to get "My boom stick","going for distances" ,"taste of your own medicine","c-section" ,"elevator action"(this is a secret achievement) and "collect peng"

But we're here for the "c-section" achievement. Its pretty easy achievement to get all you have to is buy the "contact beam" for 11,000 credits and buy one pack of ammo just in case you mess up. Find a slasher and quickly use the alt-fire(RT+RB) to knock it down and quickly charge up and discharge the beam before the slasher gets back up.

This achievement has to be done on normal difficulty or higher since the contact beam does a lot of damage from the get go and will always kill your target on the casual diffculty. Another thing to keep in mind when going for this achievement is that you should have some energy in your stasis because more often then not the Necromorphs will get up, after having hit by the altfire, before you can charge up the primary fire. The uploaded video gives far more detail on how to get this achievement including where to get the schematic for the contact beam along with all the information I listed above. All credit for the video to the Achievement Hunter Community and MPKlookie.

Cheerio everyone

This is incorrect, it can easily be done on casual. If your too close to an enemy then they will be killed instantly, but if you give some space and try it they will fall down, quickly freeze with stasis, charge up and fire.

The spitting necros work best but any standard walking necro can easily work on casual.

I know this is "late to the party" so to speak but I'm going through and doing some mopping up. This is how I did it and it worked perfectly because I'm on 2nd play through and have a fully upgraded Contact Beam and the stasis was preventing them from being knocked back PLUS it was killing them instantly. So if this is you and you're having trouble, try this.
I played on casual until I got to wear Isaac sees the ships taking off through the huge windows (ch. 2) A few minutes later you'll come across you're 1st work bench, PASS IT UP. Go through the door, kill a few necros and there's a save station right there to the left. Save. Change difficulty to Zealot, go back to the bench and unload all the power nodes from Contact Beam. I reinserted for capacity and reload because I wasn't sure it would work but it did the 1st try so you don't even need to do this.
Go back and PASS by the save station and go through the door where you'll be in a hallway. To the right there's some necros terrorizing citizens through a busted wall, you'll see one morph and then walk off to the left of the screen. Turn back and face the hallway, about 15 seconds later that same necro comes for you. Use your Alt beam then charge and kill, you dont even need to stasis it 1st. Then if you're going for more mop ups like I was, just reload the check point and it'll take you back to where I 1st told you to save and your Contact will be back to full upgraded and back on whatever difficulty you were playing on. Good luck, hope this helps. It took less than 5 minutes when I got to the area.

Pressing + with the Contact Beam equipped will make Isaac drive the gun onto the floor and create a sort of shockwave that will knock enemies in proximity down. Thereafter, quickly press and hold + to charge a ball of energy and decimate the enemy with your Primary Fire. Try to do this before fully upgrading your Contact Beam as it may be too powerful and kills enemies instantly when fully upgraded.

The schematic can be found in Chapter 7, after collecting the Peng treasure in the 'Main Frame' room. You will need to shoot or smash the five circuits in order to proceed. After destroying these circuits, proceed down the hallway towards the Solar Array control pod and you will eventually come to a door that requires a power node. The schematic is inside. Buy it and equip it at the next store.

Use the contact beam’s secondary fire to shoot at a necromorph, causing them to get knocked down. Then use stasis to freeze them as they will stand up very quickly without it. This should give you plenty of time to use the contact beam’s primary fire mode to finish them off. I recommend you do it in a smaller room because the blast from secondary fire can send the necromorph quite a distance making it difficult to get to it before it gets back to its' feet.

If you play at low difficulty levels, you won’t be able to get this achievement just like that, the nekrov will simply break after the first attack. It’s more convenient to do this when you meet the first Brute, since he only has 2 crit points and it won’t be too difficult to finish him off

An incredibly simple method in chapter 10. When you go to “familiar” places almost at the beginning of the chapter, Brutus will attack you. Slow him down, hit him with alt-fire and finish him off at the points. Kickback doesn't matter at all, the main thing is to hit it. And if the gun is pumped up, then it puts on stasis itself, so you can drop the entire clip into the Brute.

Knock down the enemy with an alternative shot from the power cutter - BRAD, the power cutter is FORCE GUN, and you need CONTACT BEAM, my friend couldn't take the trophy for two days because of this hint.
