How to unlock the Freeze achievement in Dead Space - Definitive Guide

Pretty straightforward but worth noting that the stasis enemy type, the ones that shimmer and move randomly also count when they die as they let out a stasis burst. Also the blue canisters you can throw count for this. I got this in my first run without really trying just from the times I used it on the hunter, occasionally using the blue canisters, and killing the stasis enemies

I was running around the morgue loop getting enemies to respawn and I accidentally shot off a stasis into a bunch of corpses on the floor and got the achievement...

So you may be able to just stasis corpses over and over again at a stasis regen station and get this.

Firstly, I must admit that I didn’t expect to write a guide on this. The achievement is straight forward and should not require any advice, but I was surprised when I unlocked this in Chapter 8 with no real effort.

My reasoning behind writing a guide here is that I do not use my Stasis unless essential and then I realised..

I’m a Plasma Cutter kind of player so when you run into a Swarm (the creeps that jump on your back on mass), cut open a Pregnant Necromorph by accidentally shooting the torso (releasing creeps that jump on your back on mass) or the inevitable, having to kill a Divider releasing heads everywhere, it can cause you an issue, especially with your “One Gun” achievement.

I do use Stasis sometimes for these if it’s close quarters or feeling overwhelmed, so it would seem each one counts as an enemy. Worth knowing and may help with your PC play through.

It doesn’t need a guide though, if you’re going for full completion, you’ll get it way before your Impossible playthough.

Good luck!

Stasis is such an important tool to use in Dead Space. Slowing down enemies makes it far easier to aim shots, carefully dismembering limbs, and it gives you a bit of breathing room if you’re pinned down as well. You should get this on a first playthrough, but if you don’t, start your New Game+ run and use Stasis as often as you can on enemies. You don’t even need to kill them, you can just Stasis them, wait for it to wear off, and then hit them with Stasis again. Make a conscious effort to use Stasis as often as possible on your foes, and you’ll quickly get this achievement.

Every time you see an enemy hold , aim at it and press . It will slow it down, then just kill it, find another, do the same thing. Make sure to keep your Stasis gauge full, note, it will drain very fast when using it a lot. Use cheats to keep it filled if you like. They do not affect any achievements.

This trophy will come in time, just make use of Stasis, especially when facing large groups of enemies. Stasis energy can be recharged either by a Stasis Recharge station or by using a consumable Stasis pack. You can also combine this trophy with the Brawler trophy.

You will most likely receive this trophy during the game, since slowing down enemies using stasis is one of the most effective ways to deal with them.

With this prize you can also get “Fighter”. You need to throw stasis at the necromorph and beat him at the same time.
