This achievement doesn't have anything to trigger it but during the game you will get random radio calls from other captains in regards to just chatting or finding a good/bad spot for fishing. I unlocked this during the GREENHORN campaign mission.
While replaying the Greenhorn campaign mission to try and get another achievement I had a call from a captain at the begining saying it was nice chatting. That is what was stated the 1st time I actually got the achievement so I'm guessing it will automatically trigger sometime during that mission for everyone.

Thanks for the information. I didn't have any issues with it but this game is not known for the greatest in-game quality so it is probably different for everyone when it unlocks.

This one never unlocked for me like that, Ive been talked to by multiple captains but it just wouldn't unlock, but i found out how.
Replay greenhorn mission, and rest your crew for 48 hours, repeatedly, after 3-4 times redoing that campaign, u should get it. Or at least i did.

On the map you can click on other ships to radio them and request or share info with them. I shared info with the same ship after each time I picked up a set of pots and the achievement unlocked after the second time I did so. I used two different spots also.
