How to unlock the RAPSTAR achievement in Def Jam Rapstar - Definitive Guide

Earn enough microphones required to complete Stage 5 of the career. It is the final stage and upon completion you will unlock Expert difficulty, which is required for 2 achievements later on. Progressing through the career will also unlock previously locked challenges.

TIPS FOR CAREER: I hate to use the line that a lot of these guides for music games tend to use, but the only way to really get any better at this game is to practice. The game is very accurate, especially at telling what you are saying, which has a direct impact to your score. So you need to say the right syllables and at the right time. This can be especially difficult at the "Singing" parts. I am used to Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and in those games you can simply hum. That WILL NOT work in this game, as you will get a horrible score for "Lyrics" points.

To be 100% honest, the only part of the game that gave me any problems were sections where there were only one or two words to a phrase, the two that come to mind are Salt N Pepa's "Push It", and Public Enemy's "Fight The Power". It seemed I could never hit those two-word sections ("Ah, Push It" in one, and "Fight The Power" in the other). I realized it was a calibration issue with the mic, and it seemed the game expected me to say the words at awkward timing. Therefore, what I found to make it work was to say the first word in the phrase repeatedly, very quickly and start a bit before you think you should, and then finish up the phrase. The game does not deduct it seemed for the extra words. So "Fight The Power" was actually said by me as "Fight Fight Fight The Power". It seems weird and counter-productive, but if you are having TONS of trouble with those like I was, this may come in handy.

Lastly, keep in mind that difficulty level does not affect the career AT ALL. You can play on easy and earn every one of the 20 "Career-Based" achievements. The challenges are the same. The number of points needed for 5 (or 15 for endurance challenges) mics will drop as you lower the difficulty, so there really is no plus-side to doing this entirely on Medium or Hard. If you find something too tough, drop to easy! This is important, especially because the "Microphone Fiend!" achievement requires you to get maximum mics on EVERYTHING, without any room for error at all. This means that one mic short on one song WILL stop you from obtaining that 70.
