How to unlock the Shanghai Justice achievement in Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Definitive Guide

While progressing through the main quest when going to Shanghai for the first time, you will be instructed to go to the Alice Garden Pods. When you get inside you will meet Malik. When the dialogue option comes up, I chose Lecture. She will give you a side-quest to investigate her friends death.

***Social Augmentation Option***: When talking to Malik the first time in Alice Gardens with the social augmentation (LB), you can use it and chose the option {Charm}. This results in receiving the side-quest.

Go to Pod 009 inside the gardens and read the pocket secretary and ebook. Next, follow the marker to Lee's apartment. You must first "clear" the apartment by opening the bedroom door, bedroom closet door, and bathroom door. Then Jensen will radio Malik and say no one is home.

Now, go back to the main room of the apartment and check in the corner by the door and inspect the baseball bat. Go back to the bedroom and hack the computer, listen to the answering machine beside Lee's bed and inspect the antique clock on the vanity in the bedroom.

Now, go to the Hive and talk to Lee (He is upstairs). To obtain the achievement "Super Sleuth - 10GS" go here and follow the guide in regards to speaking to Lee:

Next, Malik will ask you to hack console in the Hive. Follow the marker and hack the console. Turn Security Protocols Off, then meet Malik outside and watch the cut-scene. When it ends, look at the Hive's exterior (outside of the building) and just sit there and watch. Jensen and Malik will talk, and then the achievement will pop.

During the first conversation with Malik I used the Social Augmentation (LB) and chose the option {Charm} She then warns you about using the Augmentation on her and gives you the side-quest

The marker takes me to a door with a security rating of 3 on it....am I at the right door? YYYYY would they make this impossible for someone not going full hacker!

how do you suggest you hack the console when there is a camera there, a guard, another guard that watches the first one and is alerted if you knock him out? i tried on the easiest setting and got the achievement but i couldnt do the last part for shanghai justice....

i've gotten a glitch that doesn't allow you to investigate the clock, no matter what i've tried. i'll try and see if i can figure out how to fix it, but it looks like i'm gonna have to wait for an update

The way I did it was to find something that would block the line of sight of the bouncer. In the back rooms on the floor below, you can find a dustbin that can be placed on the bar which will then let you work without any interruptions, happy trails! :)

Just to clarify, if you're confused, you don't go to the Lee's apartment after Pod 009 - you meet 'Anonymous X' in the LIMB clinic, behind the counter, then meet him behind the alley and then both options lead to Lee's Apartment.

Missable! You won’t get S4 - Shanghai Justice sidequest until after speaking with Tong at the Hive. When you enter the 2nd level of Alice Garden Pods, you’ll bump into Malik who gives you the sidequest. Malik wants you to find evidence that Lee Hong killed her best friend. You will confront Lee Hong at one point in the game, and that’s your chance to earn Super Sleuth .

Walkthrough:

  • Head up to 3rd Floor and look for Pod 090, it’s a bed bunk.
  • Go to LIMB clinic, speak with Anon X at the counter
  • Meet Anon X outside LIMB and obtain Autopsy report (rejecting his reward claim is OK)
  • Head to Youzhao, Lee Hong’s apartment is near the upper entrance. Enter the bathroom, then search the apartment for: Answering Machine, Hack into Computer, Antique Clock and Baseball Bat
  • Find Lee Hong on 2nd Floor of Hive, expose him by answering:”Inaccurate, Drunk, Antique Clock, Pregnant, LIMB”. Unlocks trophy Super Sleuth
  • Hack Terminal in the Bar on same floor
  • Meet Malik outside Hive. Reward: PRAXIS kit and Shanghai Justice

*Save x 2*

During your story progression, you'll be confronted by Malik in the Alice Pod Gardens. Accept her side mission and go to your objectives until you end up at Lee Hong's apartment. You'll now need to look out for and the interact with the following objects while you are inside:

  • Baseball Bat: Beside the front door
  • Broken Clock: On the cabinet inside the bedroom
  • Answering Machine: Next to the bed on the side table
  • Emails: On the computer in the bedroom

Once you have all the evidence, head to 'The Hive' and locate Lee who is upstairs. Before you talk to him, make a save. Choose the following options to unlock the 'Super Sleuth' achievement:

  • Falsified
  • Drunk
  • Antique Clock
  • Pregnant
  • LIMB/Belltower

Now Malik will be in contact and she wants you to do one last thing. Behind the bar upstairs is a hackable terminal. Head over to it, make a save, and hack it to unlock the 'Shanghai Justice' achievement. You'll need to be careful here, as there is a guard behind you that may spot you when you try to hack this. So with a safe save, knock him out and then hide the body around the corner. The people on the sofa beside you shouldn't move if you use the Traqiliser gun. During my playthrough he wasn't looking my way and I didn't get caught, so you may also get this.

You'll also want to take note, that this terminal is quick tricky and has a short countdown. So make sure you have some stop worms and nukes on hand!
 

Point of No Return
Make sure you've completed all the side quests in Shanghai as this is your last chance. Even though you will return later, these certain one's will not be available again! Make sure you've also collected the E-Books, but you can still get this when you return later but it's always best to get as many as you can before you move on.
