How to unlock the The Final Countdown achievement in Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Definitive Guide

***Spoiler Free***

This battle of wits is story-based and unmissable, the chance to get this achievement however, is very much so.

This is the last social battle achievement and gained at the very end of the game so don't worry if you haven't gotten it yet. One thing worth bearing in mind is that the solutions to social battles change depending on what you've said to other people throughout the course of the game. I took a very much "Paragon" path in the game, the only exception being that I sided with the "warrior-priest" during the sidequest that awards you the achievement "Talion A.D."

Save regularly after beating the boss that awards you the achievement "The Snake" especially just after meeting a turret mounted on the roof - as far as I remember, it's the only one there.

If you have the Social Interface Augmentation then choose:
Extrapolate > Appeal > (Pheromones) Omega option

If not then choose:
Extrapolate > Appeal > Extrapolate > Extrapolate

If this does not work for you then please let me know, especially if you find a new set of choices and if you know what kind of character you played as so everyone can get this achievement please, cheers guys!

Edit: If you do not have the augmentation and the second option doesn't work then try:

Extrapolate > Extrapolate > Critique > Appeal

Full credit goes to ALMAINYNY for finding this solution

Extrapolate > Appeal > Extrapolate > Extrapolate did not work for me. Extrapolate > Extrapolate > Critique > Appeal worked for me.

I went through with the same choices you had made (paragon except for the warrior priest) and was able to do extrapolate all the way through.

Revisiting this game due to Games For Gold. I didn't have the augmentation and neither of the above methods worked for me, but the one I used which got me the achievement was:

Extrapolate > Critique > Appeal > Critique

It's amazing how 88 people found this useful but 1 clown had to put a thumbs down. I bet that clown is entertained by that, sad really. Thanks for help

This trophy is missable. However, you are forced into a dialogue with Hugh Darrow near the very end of the game so you cannot miss the opportunity to get the trophy.

I always had the Social Interface Aug by the end of the game since I was running out of useful places to put Praxis kits. Unless you really don't want that Aug you should most likely have it.

Missable!

Aboard the Panchaea, your 1st objective is to disable the lockdown, where you’ll meet Hugh Darrow and engage him in Social Battle. Possible answers are:

  • Extrapolate, Critique, Appeal, and Critique
  • Extrapolate, Appeal, Extrapolate and Extrapolate
  • Extrapolate, Appeal, Extrapolate, and Critique
  • Critique, Appeal, Critique, and Critique

which convinces him that humanity has a right to choose for itself and that you deserve a trophy for saying so.

*Save*

While working your way through Panchaea, you'll eventually come to a hallway with a turret attached to the ceiling. When you arrive at this point, make your save. Now head past the turret and into the room where Hugh Darrow lies.

While having the conversation with Hugh, choose the following dialogue options to unlock the achievement:

  • Extrapolate
  • Critique
  • Appeal
  • Appeal

Important Note
Before you head down the elevator to broadcast the messages, make sure you have spoken to both David Sarif and William Taggart who are both on Panchaea. David can be located on in the southeast room on the -4th floor. Taggart will be in the middle north room on the 2nd floor.

Plot

Order of answers in dialogue:

Assume the unsaid ---> Assume the unsaid ---> Make an appeal ---> Assume the unsaid

If there is a social corrector, then it can be used in the third answer option.

The sequence of answers may be different, because... Darrow may react differently to the same answers from you.

Before the conversation, buy a social corrector, I think you will have free glasses at that time. And you don’t need to activate anything during a conversation, conduct it in the same sequence as written above

The sequence that worked for me was: criticize - assume the unsaid - assume the unsaid - assume the unsaid.
