How to unlock the Express Elevator to Hell, Going Down achievement in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Definitive Guide

This achievement can be unlocked easily during the prologue in Dubai. Near the end of the mission, you will be required to prevent a helicopter taking off. You will begin the area high up with two elevators nearby. There will be a firefight taking place below you. Instead of using an elevator to go down, jump down between the elevators and hold cn_B to perform an Icarus Strike. After landing, press whichever button you have Typhoon assigned to (for me it was cn_right). The achievement description appears to be misleading as I didn't knock any enemies out with the Typhoon. The Icarus Strike knocked out one enemy, I used Typhoon immediately after and the achievement unlocked.

Worked perfect.I did the same thing in a different part on my 1st run but it didn't pop there.Don't know if it was scripted for this part of the game.

The achievement description appears to be misleading as I didn't knock any enemies out with the Typhoon.

I had the same is as 'HEALTTI' but after a few tries I got the enemy to be knoced out then used the typhoon. Thumbs up from me.

I don't understand this achievement. I did the Dubai method and it never worked. Then I tried the method in the hostile zone by Adam's apartment multiple times, and it didn't work. Then finally on my last attempt, I hit both guys with the Icarus strike and then immediately used the typhoon and then the achievement popped. I don't get it.

I could never get it by jumping from the top balcony like the guide says, but I did get it by climbing in the cherry picker (lift) to the right of where you land and jumping off of that. The enemies had seen me by then and clustered up around it a lot better than when you're jumping off from the top. It requires a biocell to power, but if you're on NG+ you can just use Icarus Dash to get back up on the lift easily while it's raised.

Got it just fine with non-lethal Typhoon, btw.

It is broken af. I tried the Dubai method maybe 20, 30 times, with all variations I could come up with, no luck. Tried it in Prague at the forger‘s hideout, at least 10 times, no luck. This morning loading my save again, first try, boom. WTF?

Only thing I probably did different: I alerted the forgery thugs first, so that the ones taken out by the Icarus Strike were already alerted. But I‘m not 100% sure this was never the case before, as I sometimes messed up going up the roof.

Just wanted to add, as with much of these combat related achievements, if it doesn't seem to unlock, try rebooting the game. This one would not work for me at all, but once I rebooted it worked first time.

I think the dubai method works only if you have the lethal typhoon setup. The icarus strike knocks down the enemy and the lethal typhoon kills him. Got it first try.

I'm really surprised at the high TA Ratios for the weapon achievements. I got almost all of them using a single save in GARM when I had lots of praxis, ammo, and crafting parts. Every time I got one, I reloaded the save to work on the next one. They really weren't hard at all.

I have had no luck with this achievement. I have done it exactly as the solution above suggests and as I've seen done in various videos. I have tried it lethal and non-lethal. I have tried at the end of the Dubai mission, on the gangsters near Jensen's apartment, and during the third trip to Prague. I have landed an Icarus strike on the guy below me, I've intentionally landed near him but still knocked him out, and I have intentionally missed all together, each way and every time firing the Typhoon with and without enemies being caught and killed or knocked out in it. No matter what I have tried, this achievement just will not unlock for me. I'm open to any suggestions anyone might have.

Edit: I finally unlocked it. Did so in the Dubai mission. But I don't know why it unlocked. Only thing I can figure is that I landed not on the dirt, but the raised platform having jumped as far outward as I could, followed immediately by the Typhoon. Maybe the Icarus Strike didn't kill the first guy, but the (lethal) Typhoon did? I dunno. But at least it is unlocked now.

One of the easy places to do this is toward the end of the prologue in Dubai. After the cutscene where you are given the mission objective to disable the helicopter, immediately jump over the railing in front of you and use the Icarus Landing Strike as you come down. Start hitting the Typhoon as soon as you land and the achievement will unlock.

This requires you to land an Icarus Landing & Strike on hostile enemies and then use a Typhoon on whoever survived Icarus Landing & Strike. It should be noted that this trophy can only be obtained against "Hostile" enemies and not civilians. You will not unlock the trophy if you attempt this trophy on non hostile enemies. Both of these are Adam's old Augmentations from the previous game. The both require 2 Praxis Kits each to fully upgrade them, which means you need at least 4 Praxis Kits to attempt this trophy. It should be noted that the ammo type (Lethal or Non-Lethal) for the Typhoon doesn’t matter.

The easiest place to do this is near the end of Main Mission 01 in Dubai where Adam will already have all the required upgrades in this mission. After reaching the end of the penthouse area and watching cutscene, a fight breaks out on the ground floor below you. Save your game, then jump off the balcony and hold while descending to activate Icarus Strike. Immediately after landing, run to the left down the short steps and activate Typhoon. If you performed this correctly, the trophy will unlock.

Alternatively, once you're able to upgrade Adam after completing Mission 3: Getting In Top Shape Again, you can attempt to do this trophy at any time. The best place is in the red Restricted Zone called Konicky & Hracky. This is found in Prague to to the left of Adam's Apartment. Make a manual save before heading over to the place. When you first approach the place, a foreign thug will stop you. You can either knock him out or simply ignore him and climb the wall (he will not do anything). In the Restricted Zone, you want to climb the left build and once you're on the chimney, jump off it and hold while descending to activate Icarus Strike. After hitting the enemy below with an Icarus Strike, quickly run towards the enemy on the right of the area. When you're close enough press whatever button that you've assigned your Typhoon onto. If you performed this correctly, the trophy will unlock. If you failed or messed up, simply reload your last manual save and retry again. Additionally, if you’re finding it too difficult to survive you can always buy Adam’s Health upgrade Augmentations. After unlocking this trophy, don't forget to reload your last manual save if you're after the Pacifist and Foxiest of the Hounds trophies.

This achievement can be earned at any time during your playthrough after Mission 3. Please keep in mind combat-related achievements only work on enemies in a hostile environment; civilians and policemen do not count.

You will need to unlock and fully upgrade the “Icarus Landing” and "Typoon" augmentations. The best place to get this achievement is in the gangster hideout just west of Adam's apartment complex. Make an extra manual save before attempting this just in case you mess up and need to retry.

After positioning yourself on top of the tallest building in this hideout/courtyard, simply jump off the roof and hold to activate the "Icarus Landing Strike" on the one enemy patrolling the grounds back and forth. There is a second mobster nearby who will become alerted, so activate the Typhoon aug right away to take him out and unlock the achievement.

The trophy is still buggy.
I tried from different saves in different places - to no avail.
How I ended up getting:
started NG+, eliminated the first idiot in Dubai, in the next room (where 2 more were hanging around in front of the elevator) climbed onto a beam under the ceiling and made a save. I restarted the game, made sure that I was connected to PSN and the trophy came out on the first try.

Everything works, I won a trophy in the first mission in Dubai against the first two opponents.

The trophy is definitely buggy, I managed to get it in GARMA where one is doing push-ups and the other is standing next to them. We climb right above them (using the “Icarus Dash”). There we stand on the curb and use “concentration” and jump off, simultaneously using the “Icarus Strike” , and immediately "Typhoon". (I had a stunning one). All the trophies should pop out.

When you climb onto a chimney like in the video, don’t forget to hold X longer before jumping to jump higher, then a couple of meters before the ground hold down - Oh, then immediately - and the trophy is yours.

The achievement opens in the current version of the game without problems, the main thing is that there are enemies below when falling, namely enemies, and not civilians or allies. Any typhoon will do; I also got a trophy with a non-lethal one.

made most of the trophies in Garm on opponents who train. there are a lot of them there. non-lethal typhoon triggers!

So much advice and almost all of it is useless. There is no need to delete anything or roll back the game version anywhere. Everything is done in the first mission in Dubai with the first couple of evil spirits. The main thing is to find an angle for the jump so that the “landing” turns on and knocks out the first type, and then almost immediately the typhoon on the second.

For those who can’t get it out, I’ll give you some advice that’s a bit cheating. If you play from a disk, then delete the game from the console (Options button - delete). Don’t be afraid, the saves will not be lost. Then remove and reinsert the disc and start playing without waiting for the patches to install. In the unpatched version of the game, start a new game and in Dubai you can easily win the trophy the first time against the first two opponents. As shown in this video.

It’s not even necessary to kill someone with a typhoon, just jump with Icarus onto the enemy and immediately have a typhoon.

PS: In order to load the game from an old save, you will still need to download all the patches for it. Otherwise, saves will not load.

PPS: That’s exactly how I got this trophy (by rolling back to the first version of the game) after a huge number of attempts on a fully patched version.
