How to unlock the Umlauts or no Umlauts achievement in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Definitive Guide

As part of normal story progression, Adam will meet up with the Fixer as he prepares to complete his mission. To unlock the achievement, Adam must prevent the Fixer from being killed and then talk to him. Regardless of the choice made during that final conversation with the Fixer, the achievement will unlock immediately following the conversation.

If the Fixer is killed, quickly press cn_start and load the latest auto-save. This will allow you to redo the sequence, hopefully, with the Fixer surviving. There are two ways to prevent the Fixer's Death. One is to persuade the would-be killer to put down his gun. That can only be done if Adam has the use of his augments. The other way is to neutralize the would-be killer--lethally or non-lethally.

The final segment of the game leading up to the final encounter with the Fixer, begins with Adam releasing Mejia from solitary. Adam must turn off the transport tracking system and override two anti-aircraft turrets. When he accomplishes those objectives, he can proceed to his departure point where he encounters the Fixer--unlocking the achievement if he can keep Fixer alive and have a conversation with him.

Once Adam turns off the transport tracking system, he activates an optional side objective. The below two videos show Adam proceeding from solitary, accomplishing his tasks, and unlocking the achievement nonlethally. The first video shows the optional side mission and also includes a decision point at the 8'40" mark where those that are not interested in the optional side mission can go directly to the second video. Doing so, skips the side mission and continues straight to the achievement:

The first video picks up the action from solitary confinement. The video that accompanies the below solution shows one of the paths to solitary if required for reference:

I'm doing a video walkthrough for A Criminal Past for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This is a two part video, the seventh of eight videos that, when played sequentially, will provide a complete walkthrough unlocking all the achievements in the process. This video is preceded by the one for the Smooth Like Soap achievement and is followed by a short video for the game completion achievements--Code of Conduct, Winners Don't Use Drugs (or Biocells), and A Criminal Past.

You don't need augs to convince Mejia to let the Fixer live and you will have the option of both men leaving on the VTOL with you avoiding the story breaking cheesing approach in this guide.

You need to have found all 5 of these pocket secretaries:
"Schedule Change: Mejia, Oscar" (located in the Processing Area)
"Recovered Turret Command Logs" (located on level 5 of the Tower in Automated Security)
"RE: This week's list" (On Stenger's body in the Infirmary)
"Worthmuller" (located under the fallen bookshelf on level 2 of the Admin building)
"Audio Transcript" (In Stenger's office safe)

The first 2 are also needed for the "Objection!" achievement. If you have all 5, you have the information to Challenge, Hold, and then Blackmail Mejia into submission. I prefer this to the long winded spiels Adam makes when using the CASIE aug.

If you're looking for a third possibility (one that isn't strictly picking a side), make sure to keep at least one or two stun gun/ tranquillizer bullets with you. Side with the contact instead of the Fixer, but instantly stun gun the contact before he can shoot the fixer. This allows you to keep your no-kill run, and have a conversation with the Fixer, and also have the smug satisfaction that you found another way ;)

You can get this achievement without augs and have the option of both of them leaving on the VTOL with you.

"Recovered Turret Command Logs" (located on level 5 of the Tower in Automated Security)

"Audio Transcript" (In Stenger's office safe)

The first 2 are also needed for the "Objection!" achievement. If you have all 5, you have the information to Challenge, Hold, and then Blackmail Guerrro into submission. I prefer this to the long winded spiels Adam makes when using the CASIE aug.

At the very end of the DLC, when you get to the landing pad, you'll be confronted with Mejia and the Fixer. In order to get this achievement you need to save the Fixer's life (there are likely mulitple ways to do this...I ended up in a fight with Mejia and had to tranq him before he killed the Fixer). Once you do this, talk to the Fixer to bring up the option of choosing what to do with him and unlocking the achievement.

Towards the very end of the DLC, your objective will task you with exfiltrating from the prison by reaching the helipad you came in from. Before taking the elevator to the helipad, make a manual save.

Once you reach the helipad, you will confront both Mejia and the Fixer. Assuming you are stacking "Winners Don't Use Drugs (or Biocells)" on this playthrough, you will not have access to your CASIE aug and won't have the opportunity to convince Mejia to surrender. As a result, you are left with two options: side with Mejia and allow him to kill the Fixer or side with the Fixer and kill Mejia (this causes two nearby turrets to assault you and sometimes they kill the Fixer).

For the purposes of this achievement, you should choose to side with Mejia. Once the cutscene ends and he is about to execute the Fixer, quickly pull out either a Stun Gun or a Rifle and incapacitate/kill Mejia. With him unconscious/dead, you can now speak to the Fixer and decide his fate: leave him behind or bring him along back home.

The achievement will unlock once you have made your choice. If you chose to kill Mejia but were working on the "Code of Conduct" achievement, just reload your save and side with him this time, allowing him to execute the Fixer.

At the very end of the game on the helipad, provided that you kill/neutralize Mejia, you will have the opportunity to talk with the Dealer and decide to leave him in prison or take him with you. The main thing is that he does not fall under a stray bullet from turrets or Mejia. Immediately after the attack on Mejia, you run behind the building from behind and save and then try to kill or neutralize him. Getting a trophy after a kill-free run goes without saying. I only had one cartridge for the shock and it didn’t work...

Everything is much simpler. The point is that you must allow Mejio to kill the Dealer. And while Mejio is aiming, just shoot him with the shock pistol. Voila! The dealer is alive, Mejio is alive, the trophies are received, everyone is happy

There is no need to kill Mejia, just use a shock pistol, it will knock you out in one shot. At the same time, you will get a trophy, go through without killing anyone, unless of course you have killed anyone before.

It is not necessary to kill/neutralize Mechia. By choosing to threaten -> retreat, social augmentation will turn on. After this, he can be convinced. I chose the answers: omega, , beta, beta.
After this, a dialogue with the Dealer will be available. And the choice: leave him in prison or take him with you.
