How to unlock the The Silent achievement in Don't Starve: Console Edition - Definitive Guide

AFTER PATCH WES WILL APPEAR IN WORLD 3 ALL THE TIMES, NO MATTER WHAT SLOT YOU´RE PLAYING. THE ONLY EXCEPTION STILL MAP TWO WORLDS. HE´LL NEVER BE IN TWO WORLDS.

I was struggling like hell to find this guy.
So me and some guys from plasytationtrophies.org went to Klei forums to see what was happening.
Turns out there is a glitch in the game.
The game only check the first save slot to see wether you unlocked Wes or not and if you met the conditions to do so.
For Wes to appear you have to:
USE THE FIRST SAVE SLOT
Have beaten two worlds on Adventure mode. Wes will spawn in the third world.
The third world CAN NOT be Archipelago or Two Worlds.

They will fix the glitch on future patch.

Wes can appear in world 1 or 2 too, as long as they´re not those two maps.
But it is very rare though.
I´ve did it with Wilson, but it should work with any character.
Just to be on the safe side, stick around survival mode till you unlock your desired character then start a new game with said character, find the door and go for it!

Update.
It´s been confirmed that as long as you have a save at world 3 in slot 1, you can play in any other slot and find Wes. It means you don´t need to ditch you old save with the characters unlocked.

Do you know if the character matters? Does it have to be Wilson? This is going to be a pain because I can't even stay alive long enough in adventure mode to make it to the 2nd world.

Thank you so much for this solution. I`ve followed your "way to wes" and your frustration on PS3T and i´m really glad that you found wes. Further notes: your XP about the mechanics of the game helped me a lot to understand how DS works. And finally how to find this stupid Wes.

They just released an update that "fixes: unlock for Wes was not functioning properly" so I'd assume it's been fixed now?

It should be. IDK though, as I deleted this crap to never see it again.

Well, before the patch Wes would never ever appear on Chapter 4 (whatever map it is), Chapter 5 which is always The Darkness or something along these lines, can´t remeber exactly the name and at the maps Two Worlds and Archipelago.

As I said, it was before the patch. I never played it after the patch, so I really don´t have a clue how it is working now.

Wes is a character that spawns in adventure mode. He can only appear in specific worlds (A Cold Reception, The King of Winter, The Game is Afoot, Archipelago). He will appear for you if you don't have him, In the 3rd adventure mode world you reach through progression (playing the first world 3 times wouldn't count). People have reported that if you get Two Worlds for your 3rd world (Wes can't spawn on this map), that starting another adventure mode on the second save spot resulted in him turning up in the first world. The image below shows what the area Wes appears in looks like, this area only spawns for Wes. There will be 2 Maxwell statues you have to mine, after each a wave of clockwork monsters will spawn and you have to defeat them. Then when you approach Wes, more will spawn and you will have to defeat those as well. Once you kill the last monster Wes will fall to the ground and the trophy will unlock. Remember the maps are random so the overall map won't look the same for you.

The fight can be quite tough so make sure you have log armor and weapons for it. Also it's ideal if you are playing the robot as each clockwork monster drops 2 gears, giving you huge amounts of health back. I'd also recommend backing up your save to the cloud or usb before you attempt it just in case you die.

Wes's unique features are:

  • He doesn't talk.
  • His hunger drains faster than other characters and his melee attacks also do less damage.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have your game updated to the most recent patch as Wes used to be glitched on save slots other than 1.

Here is what the area looks like that Wes will always spawn in:

According to the developers... Wes appears only in the third world in the " Adventure " mode... But this is not entirely true.

Very often (and for some always) the third world comes across “ Two Worlds ” or “ Archipelago ”, in which Wes cannot appear.

Anyway...

- Create a new game in the first save slot. As already written above, we need to find Maxwell's door in order to get into adventure mode...

- - Please note that before entering the door you need to fill your stomach, sanity and life to the maximum, since all characteristics are transferred to Adventure mode... BUT do not worry about your inventory, since it is not transferred to adventure mode...

- We get to the third world... And then there will be 3 options for the development of events...

a) In the third world you find Wes and enjoy life...

b) In the third world you DO NOT find Wes, delete all saves and start from the first point...

c) In the third world you come across “ Two Worlds ” or “ Archipelago ”...

- If you come across “ Two Worlds ” or “ Archipelago ”, then you can safely save, exit the game and create a new game, but in the second save slot. At the same time, without deleting the game saved in the first slot.

- Find the door to adventure mode again and immediately find Wes in the first world!

Wes is usually located on the edge of the map, but in very rare cases it is far from the edge, so take the time to run not only along the edge, but also in depth.

Japanese version .
When playing adventure mode and about to move on to the next chapter, you can press the jump button repeatedly which will allow you to skip as many chapters as you clicked on .
This way you can easily skip all 5 chapters by going straight to the chapter with Maxwell.
Pros.
Helps get to Wes in Chapter 3 easier and faster. (For me this was a discovery, since I was really tired of going through 2 chapters and ending up on two worlds for the 20th time).
Minuses.
Items that were placed in the portal will not be transferred if you use this skip.
Fun fact.
The animation and sound of the character being sucked in by his hands stacks, which gives a cool effect.

A complete lie, I did everything as you described, lived to level 3, dropped 2 Worlds, saved, exited, created a second slot, jumped into the portal, dropped the King of Winter level, killed for more than an hour, ran around every nook and cranny, no Weight. So your tactics aren't working. And it probably works: find it only in the 3rd level. And so that this level is not World 2. Judging by this article: https://ru.dont-starve.wikia.com/wiki/Wes, it can also be found in the Archipelago level.

The hint described in detail above will work if you install the game without patch 1.01, that is, remove it during installation. I just chose a different strategy. The main thing is that the first chapter is an archipelago and the chances will be much higher. I started adventure mode 8 times in total. Lucky on the eighth!

Use the chess rook to kill the rest of the pieces, bee mines will also work great to distract attention (the ones in the hint I didn’t craft, I just found) and an ent, or better yet, a pair. To heal, you can steal penguin eggs and make dumplings.

Video hint of what it all looks like

A small cheat, if you die you can quickly close the game, start with the morning save.
