I've been playing "Doom" since 1995 (32X version), and this is the very first time I have ever seen that secret exit. Thanks, it helps a lot.

for some reason I go there and that wall is not the same as I see in my game. Could it be difficulty specific ?

It appears that it's timing specific. As you come up to the stairs I think there's a pressure plate and you have to be quick before the opportunity closes before having to go back and try again
