You'll need the boat or other ship to reach this. It is just South, along the coast, of Neo City (large center island above the larger island), just above the desert.
Green dot is the temple
Unlike most upgrades, Francis will have to go solo, so no healer to help or buff you. During my playthrough, I applied stats to Francis 2:1, Dex:Might, so this made the trial fairly easy as i hit hard and fast. You'll also want to have skills that lower attack and spirit, having a poison skill helps as well.
When inside the temple, head East then Noeth to activate a switch to enable some boosters elsewhere. Return to the first zone, then do the opposite, go West and South and find a switch to do the same. Return to the first area and go North.
The boss is easy compared to the Ninjas and cows, so if you are able to take them, you can take this guy.
