How to unlock the High Commander achievement in Dragon Age: Inquisition - Definitive Guide

This achievement is for completing 50 operations on the world map in the war council room. You should get all of these during normal game play if you are doing more than just the story missions, but many are short and repeatable, allowing you to get this achievement early if you are willing to grind it.

Some important notes:

* Only three operations can be performed at a time, one for each adviser.
* The time listed to complete an operation is in real world time, not game time, and counts down even while the game is not running.
* The operation to gather money is repeatable and available from early in the game.
* The operations for gathering resources associated with each unlocked region are repeatable.

Just a small side note, you should only repeat the money or resource missions if you are rushing through the story and want this achievement, as the rewards from these are very small compared to actually exploring the regions. Like risseless stated, you will almost certainly get this from a normal playthrough if you visit the war council from time to time.

This will come naturally, I am sure.

HOWEVER

If you need this done quickly, and you are in favor of farming, and you wouldn't mind a pile of gold .... please read on.

This method will allow you to get this quickly, and soon after you get access to the war table.

1st step

You need to have access to the mission where you collect gold. (It is on the left side of the Fereldan side (the right card)) .

Save before you enter the war room.
Close the game.
Go into settings and disconnect from the internet. (go offline)
Hard power down your console (hold on the light on the console until it powers down)
Turn on the console again.
Go into settings and change the year to: 1916 (assuming you are in 2015)
Load the game and continue.
Enter the war room.
Select on the GOLD money mission - choose the character.

IT SHOULD AUTO COMPLETE GIVING YOU THE MONEY AND COMPLETING A MISSION.

Do this a whole bunch more times. You will have to count yourself since the acheivements cannot be tracked while you are offline.

When you are satisfied, close the game down (don't just minimize it - close it) and go into setting and go online again. Then you load up the game if you have done the 50 missions the achievement will pop around the title screen.

NOTES/CAUTIONS!!!!!!

For me when I was doing this, the QUEST WORLD MAP was a bit screwy and the cursor would have a hard time going where I wanted it to go. When I went back online, the problem was fixed.

If you use a turbo controller (as I tried), the game will crash. At least it did for me.

I would recommend you exit the war room every so often to make sure you save.

Does 1916 still work in 2016 or 1917?

i have completed the game, I assume you would need to use 1917 because of the 99 year. But you would have to check.

Still works in 2020, like the comment says, just move the date back 99 years from whatever year you are in, and keep the date the same. So for me I changed the year to 1921. And in case anyone is wondering, the war table unlocks with the necessary money mission right after the very short prologue, less than an hour into the game if you are speeding through.

This trophy requires a little bit of time investment but should come naturally for most who play the game.

Missions or Operations appear on the War Table and are completed by selecting an appropriate agent (between Cullen, Leliana and Josephine) and allowing them to complete the mission.

Some helpful things to note:
- Some missions can be repeated forever (such as Gather Coin or Harvest Herbs in a specific region) but each completion DOES count towards this trophy.
- Most missions give a completion time at the bottom of the report based on which agent you are sending out. Keep an eye out for who can complete the mission the fastest to maximize mission completions.
- Mission times are measured by your console's clock. At present there is a known glitch where you undertake a mission then move your console clock ahead by that time remaining for the mission to automatically finish (example, say Gather Gold takes Leliana 1 hour to complete. You can select the mission, then head to the dashboard and adjust your system clock ahead one hour in time. Return to the game and the mission will be finished).
- It is possible to have mission finish when you are not playing. Once I am finished playing the game, I find a mission I can put each agent on and let them go about completing it. That way when I return to the game they each have a mission finished and all you have to do is reap the rewards.
- Operations that you unlock and then complete count toward this trophy as well.

Once you have finished 50 missions, this trophy should unlock.

On your War Table (the interactive map laid out in the room where you gather all of your advisors), there will be locations you can select with multiple choices available for each one, some as missions and others as operations. The first example you will see of an operation is when you are tasked to have Leliana’s spies scout out The Hinterlands in advance of your arrival. Don’t worry if this seems like a lot, because there are over 300 available in total on the War Table, so you will eventually get this without trouble by simply progressing the game.

Keep in mind that most of these tasks take a certain amount of time to be carried out, all in real time, and the amount differs on which advisor you select to carry it out. Do the quick ones while carrying out your business in Haven, do moderate ones while out adventuring, and queue up the long ones before you exit the game; they will continue to complete even if you are logged out.

Complete a total of 50 missions or operations at the War Table to receive the trophy. Start a new operation whenever you get back to the War Table and this will easily come over time. For more info on operations see the Commander trophy.
