How to unlock the Keymaster achievement in Dragon Age: Inquisition - Definitive Guide

For this achievement, you have to find all of the shards in every area of the game. To do this, you will have to find an ocularum (skull on the map) and guide it to points of light to make the shards show up on your map. Then you will have to go walk to each one and collect them individually.

A good tip for making them easier to find once you've marked them on an ocularum is to place a waypoint on the next shard you are going to, as it will emit a blue pillar of light into the air above the shard.

Some shards require some tricky (if not seemingly impossible at first glance) jumping. For these, I recommend switching to Cassandra, because for some reason it seems like she jumps higher than the Inquisitor does, not paricularly sure why. Especially when getting the shard in the middle of Lady Shayna's Valley in the Hinterlands (you'll see what I mean).

Once you've acquired all of the shards, travel to the Forbidden Oasis (far left on the world map) and travel to the northernmost part of the map, going through some tunnels from the Intrinsic Pools region to find the Solasan Temple. Inside you will use the shards you've acquired as keys to go through various doors to fight waves of enemies and collect loot and stat bonuses (very useful btw). Once you've unlocked the final door the achievement will pop.

PS: If you can't figure out which areas you have shards left in, hover over them in the world map and hit LB to toggle through your quests to see if you have a "Shards in ___" open there still. If you do, there are some shards left to be found. There are 104 total shards in the game.

There are 114 in total I think... although the previous solution that was deleted had the total at 108.

Collectibles section in journal will show you exactly where and how many you need in each place, much better than using the map to check.

lol you forgot to mention the lvl 21 high dragon sitting guarding one of the skulls in Emprise du Lion laugh

yeah that dragon just voided this achievement for me since i'm a level 21, and have no chance beating him. I can't even beat level 15-17 dragons. Game balance is way off, supposed to be normal difficulty which means shouldn't be certain death

Yeah you may want to make note of the dragons in the achievement guide, as you HAVE to fight one in Emprise du Lion to get the 7 of the shards. You may not have to fight the Hinterlands one, but if you do its way weaker than the Emprise one anyway.

The quest showing how many shards I had collected didn't show up for me on the world map when I needed my last few (perhaps because I missed one ocularum completely). I ended up having to go to journal > collections > shards to find what I had missed.

I'm pretty sure there are 114 shards too. 3 elements with 36 shards each + 6 to open the main door to the temple

this achievement sucks so hard.

Yeah, the dragon guarding one is BS - that was my last Oculuram. Anyway, those saying it's voided, just come back after beating on your preferred difficulty and throw it on Casual.

Might be worth mentioning that the quests list only shows the places you have started to collect shards in, not the ones you haven't.

Can you complete the game first on nightmare then turn it down to easy for the level 21 dragon after? I just don't fancy completing on nightmare then being left with this 1 achievement.

I killed the dragon guarding the ocularum in emprise, but it won't show one of the shards. I am also missing a shard from the castle in emprise, because the flags are blocking the view

Every enemy, that includes dragons can be very easy. You just need to prepare a bit. That means crafting armor that either has fire, electricity or cold resistance. Then use a proper belt and you don't even need to use a single potion for the highest leveled dragon (for me level 23). Normal difficulty that is.
My medium armor has about 95% fire resistance and the dragon's fire breath does about 10 damage which is 1% of my total health.

Is this glitched? I have every shard (no DLC) and have opened every door. Journal confirms I have all shards and the quests associated with this (open this doors, open that door, etc) shows as completed but the cheeve never popped. I triple checked and even went back to forbidden oasis and there's no longer a diamond on the map (since the quest was completed). Did I miss something? Like is there something I have to read or loot or..?

The solution should change. its not when you open the last door. Its when you head back up and enter the room that now has an open door. For people having trouble killing dragons, craft weapons with Fade Touch Obsidian. Each hit builds guard. Its op. Use the legend schematics from the free dlc black emporium.

I got to the ocularum without fighting the dragon in Emprise. First run to the ocularum and ignore the dragon, use any ability, while the animation for the ability is occurring enter tactical mode and it should let you activate the ocularum from tactical mode.

If it doesn't exit the game to the main menu and then continue your game, you should be in front of the ocularum, disengaged from the dragon, and it should let you activate the ocularium and get the last seven shards, without defeating the dragon.

Took me two tries but worked in the end.

Same thing confused me at first, but once you open the last door and it says to discover what's inside, you go back to the entrance of the cave and the middle door will be open with new enemies in it. As soon as I walked in the room with the enemies the cheevo popped.

It's true! I noticed she feels far more agile than my human male rogue when I had to climb a tree and jump to a loot chest (before kicking the demon dude out of a Keep). I guess it's because she's the same height but slimmer and lighter (not sure if Sera and Vivienne are also more agile).

To add to ST0NE C0LD ET's solution, the Jaws of Hakkon DLC adds 12 shards to collect in the Frostback Basin area.

The number of shards needed to open the temple door remains the same. If you don't feel like collecting all of the shards in the Hissing Wastes or Forbidden Oasis, you no longer need to.

I ran into a bug today, it would not let me open the door without every shard, including the DLC. Maybe they patched it or I was super unlucky.

My experience is that this solution is inaccurate. I have the shards from the DLC and missing a couple from the main game and I am told I am missing the exact number of shards from the main game.

This trophy is probably the most work in the game as it requires you to collect every single shard (a total of 114), and then use them to unlock various doors in a temple in the Forbidden Oasis.

The quest "Shard Collector" is triggered by finding your first shard in the game, which you can do as soon as you hit the Hinterlands - there's an ocularum near the start, use this to find and map the shards, then pick them up.

This will give you access to a War Table mission in the far West which unlocks The Forbidden Oasis location. You can head here whenever you like but bear in mind the enemies are ~level 12, and you won't be able to collect all the shards until you've unlocked all the large maps in the game, so you may want to leave this map until the end (there's not really anything else of note here).

Anyways, you can find the oculara and shards in each map as follows (the game will track your progress at each location once you've found your first shard on each map, via the 'Collections' tab in the journal):
Hinterlands: 5 oculara, 22 shards
Storm Coast: 4 oculara, 13 shards
Forbidden Oasis: 4 oculara, 15 shards
Western Approach: 4 oculara, 14 shards
Exalted Plains: 3 oculara, 16 shards
Emerald Graves: 2 oculara, 13 shards
Emprise du Lion: 2 oculara, 13 shards
Hissing Wastes: 4 oculara, 8 shards
I found the maps here (not my work) to be very helpful: http://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/2nfgx7/spoilers_d...

Once you've got all the shards, head to the northernmost camp in the Forbidden Oasis, access to the temple is via a path up to the left of the waterfall. You'll need shards to open each of the doors in here, 6 for the front door, and a total of 36 for each of the three paths (they have three doors each requiring 6, 12 and 18 shards respectively). Once you've completed each of the three paths, the main door will open (this is directly in front of the front door). Once you've entered this chamber, the trophy should drop.

Note:
1. At some locations (definitely Western Approach and Emprise du Lion and possibly others) you will need to complete War Table operations to unlock the entire map, i.e. you may not be able to access all the shards straight away.
2. Once you've used an ocularum to mark every shard on your map, the ocularum itself will no longer appear on your map (this is a good way of figuring out where you may have missed some).
3. The second ocularum at Emprise du Lion is right on the edge of the lair of a rather high level dragon. I killed it but depending on your level you may need to take a more stealthy approach.
4. Some of these require some pretty annoying jumping to get to, and the ones in Forbidden Oasis can be annoying because of the vertical layout of the map.
5. You can open doors and come back later and open the rest, although note that a few players reported glitches where they have lost shards from attempting to partially open a door and then couldn't complete the quest. I attempted to open a door that I didn't have enough shards for, came back later on, and had no problems though.

On the far western section of the Orlesian side of the War Table, there will be an operation called Investigate the Shards (4 Power) which will require Josephine to be available. Use her for the operation and it will immediately open up the new area called The Forbidden Oasis. As soon as you arrive, a dwarven scout will inform you of the temple to the north and mark it on your map.

During your travel there, don't forget to grab the Ocularums and their associated shards, as you will need all shards possible to make the full journey into the temple. The first door costs six shards, expending them and removing them from your inventory. After spending these six, another three doors present themselves:

A Spirit door, costing six; open it to present a second, costing twelve; open it to present the third and final, costing eighteen (36 in total on Spirit)
A Cold door, costing six; open it to present a second, costing twelve; open it to present the third and final, costing eighteen (36 in total on Cold)
A Fire door, costing six; open it to present a second, costing twelve; open it to present the third and final, costing eighteen (36 in total on Fire)

Each time you open a door and clear the area of enemies, you will be granted a permanent resistance to whichever element's door you have opened. After the third and final door, you will face a more powerful Horror of the associated element along with a contingent of guards, and once defeated, you will be granted a purple belt of resistance to that element and more permanent resistance.

Once all shards have been expended, the final door near the entrance of the temple will open and you will fight a Pride Demon and his minions, unlocking the achievement in the process. Loot the final chest to receive multiple purples, a permanent boost to Electricity resistance, and a lesson in pride and greed.

The Solasan temple is located in The Forbidden Oasis. When you enter the Forbidden Oasis for the first time, you'll receive a quest called "The Temple of Pride". This quest leads you to the entrance of the temple and it will be marked on your map as a dungeon after finding it.

To open the door to the entrance, you'll need 6 shards. Enter the dungeon and at the very back you'll see three color coded doors. Each of these doors require 6 shards to be opened as well. Behind each door you'll need to fight off enemies. In each of these rooms is another door that requires 12 shards to be opened. Behind those doors is a room with one more door that requires 18 shards to be opened. Each first room holds level 7 Corpses, the second room has level 11 Corpses and the final rooms have level 15 Corpses and a miniboss. The green path has an Arcane Horror miniboss, the blue path has a Revenant, and the red path has a Rage Demon.

Once you've opened all these doors (9 in total), a door close to the entrace of the temple opens up. Inside you'll find level 19 Corpses and a level 20+ Pride Demon. You don't need to kill them to receive the trophy.

To unlock the Forbidden Oasis, you'll need to discover and pick up at least one shard. In order to enter the heart of the temple, you'll need to obtain 114 shards in total. You'll need to find every shard in the game to reach this total. For more info on shards, the shard totals per area and the locations of the Ocularums, see the Sharp-Eyed trophy.
