Don't forget to pick up the sad splinters when you break down the door. Weapon you make isn't overpowered but it is a banana on a stick after all.

This achievement is glitchy. I was never able to unlock it and didn't want to replay the entire game just for that achievement.

Western Approach can also be accessed by the main door. It's just a little bit longer to conquer.

Glitched for me at 66%. Tried a new character on easy and still no luck. I did notice that Western Approach never shows up on my completed quest log but it was definitely the 2nd tracked. When I tried for the 100% at snowing location, tracker never moved.

Noooo also stuck at 66% for me :( Annoying that there are only exactly 3 keeps in the entire game. I guess I can try reloading an old save and doing Crestwood again...

There are keeps in the following areas: Western Approach, Crestwood, and Emprise Du Lion. The keep in Western Approach unlocks at the end of Assault on Griffon Wing Keep quest, the keep in Crestwood unlocks at the end of Capturing Caer Bronach quest, and the keep in Emprise Du Lion unlocks at the end of Capturing Suledin Keep quest.

These keeps are fast travel sites that act like campsites complete with merchants. Very useful to have because they are usually located far away from any other fast travel location.

Throughout your adventures in Thedas, you will come across large fortified structures known as keeps. Once through the front door, there will be many combat situations, so make sure you're well stocked beforehand. The miniature adventure will culminate at the top of the keep in a larger scale fight with harder foes. Defeat them all, then interact with the flagpole using  to raise a flag for the Inquisition.

Your keeps will then serve as a more robust and functioning base of operations in the area. You may rest, equip potions, fill requisitions, and do what you normally can at a camp, but there will also be crafting and upgrade tables for use, as well as one or more merchants.

The three locations are:
- Western Approach: On the western side, just to the west of the gaseous area.
- Crestwood: The mayor of New Crestwood will provide the quest to liberate this keep in the southwest.
- Emprise du Lion: West from the tower camp after completing the quest Taking Back the Lion.

A keep is a bit like a camp site, but is much bigger and offers more options to you. Keeps need to be liberated, which is quite simple. All you have to do is find the keep, kill every enemy inside and raise the Inquisition flag at the very end to claim it as your own. There are a total of three keeps that you can liberate. Keep Caer Bronach in Crestwood, Keep Griffon Wing in the Western Approach, and Keep Suledin in Emprise du Lion.

All the Keep locations.

Keep Caer Bronach in Crestwood.
As soon as you enter Crestwood, you'll receive the "Still Waters" quest. Follow that quest to reach the keep.

Keep Griffon Wing in the Western Approach.

Keep Suledin in Emprise du Lion.
As soon as you enter Emprise Du Lion, talk to the towns people. A woman called Poulin will give you a quest called "Take Back the Lion". Finish this quest to receive the "Capturing Suledin Keep" quest.
