How to unlock the In War, Victory achievement in Dragon Age: Origins - Definitive Guide

In order to get this achievement, you need to kill the ogre (or Risen Ogre, as the name says) that killed Calin. You'll fight this Ogre after exiting the ruins (going into the second half of the Battlefield). Pretty easy, takes about 15 minutes to get this once you buy it.

EDIT: Not sure if level matters, but I was at 20 when I did this and it was very easy. I had Starfang and basic, light armor. Pretty easy.

EDIT 2: I've read a few posts that the achievement won't pop for them and is glitched. Try either redoing this quest, or reinstalling the DLC.

EDIT 3: Thanks to SunburnedCactus for the info, the glitch has been fixed via update.

Wasn't able to get the achievement to trigger - I even tried reloading and attempting it a 2nd time to no avail. I'll be trying again with another character, as well.

Hm, there has been word of a glitch affecting this for some people, you may be one of them. You may want to reinstall it (re-download) it, that may help.

Glitch is fixed as of today, with an update.

Confirmed that the glitch was fixed. I got the achievement to pop last night with the same character as before by loading a safe right before the battle. Popped when the necromancer died.

It might be worth telling this achievement comes with the Return to Ostagar DLC.

That already is said, as it is under the Return to Ostagar DLC when looking at the list of achievements.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Duncan kill this ogre in the video after you light the tower flame?! The ogre that killed the king I mean.

Nevermind my last post. Just finished it and it all became very clear. It's very easy at lvl 10.

Something is weird about this achievement... the TA ratio should be 1.0, no?

Ah, it looks like DLC packs that add only a single achievement use the base game to calculate the value.

You shouldn't have to complete the main quest, I would try reloading your save if possible. I assume you've updated the game? This was supposed to fix that glitch, but if you have updated and are still getting the glitch.... not sure what to say other than retry.

I disagree with having to pay 400MSP for only 10-15min of fun. But nonetheless it was fun,

After installing, make your way to the new gold location on your world map, Bann Loren's lands. There, you'll meet another survivor of Ostagar and he'll tell you about the key he left to King Cailan's chest. Head back to Ostagar and fight through the Darkspawn to gather the pieces of Cailan's armor, the contents of his chest, and Duncan's weapons. You'll have to fight through the lower level of the Tower Ishal again, but after going through a tunnel, you'll emerge onto the battlefield. There the Ogre awaits. He's no tougher than any other ogre you'll face, so treat it no differently. After defeating what Darkspawn are there and the Ogre, this will unlock.

As for Cailan's chest, I'll describe the location for you until I can find a suitable map. On the western side of the Ostagar bridge (where you start this DLC set) is where the chest and the key are. The key is just to the north of the bridge entrance in a pile of rubble. The chest is to the south of the bridge entrance in between two spiked, wooden walls.

Completely plot achievement. You will return to Ostagar... There simply cannot be any difficulties in obtaining it.
