How to unlock the Magic Sympathizer achievement in Dragon Age: Origins - Definitive Guide

You can get this and "Annulment Invoker" with a minimal amount of replay (just one or two dialogues) if you delay the moment of decision as long as possible.

When you enter the mage's circle tower and meet Wynne, side with her and get her to join your party. Then play through until you free First Enchanter Irving. He will give you the choice to proceed back down to the Templars or wait, choose wait and then save your game.

To get "Magic Sympathizer," when you talk to Greagor, the Templar leader, tell him you trust the Circle is back in order. Then talk to Irving and after your conversation this achievement will unlock. If you haven't gotten "Annulment Invoker" by this point, re-load the game from your save and follow the instructions I left for that achievement.

You need to use the Litany you get from Niall, after leaving the fade to keep the mages alive during the battle with Uldred. I had hard time getting this until I figured that out.

Thanks for the guide. For anyone else as a reference, the litany of Adralla can be found in the "advanced" sub-section of the radial menu. You can access the radial menu with the left trigger. Again thanks for the guide +1

You can also assign the Litany to one of the buttons. This way its easier to activate. If you do not use the Litany in the battle, Irving dies and you don't get the option to wait afterwards. Instead Cullen appears and the cutscene starts immediately after the dialogue you are taken directly to Gregor. And get the Annulment achievement.

Just to also point out that you need to use the Litany each time Uldred tries to turn a mage into an abomination. I didn't get this at first and was only using it at the beginning of the battle. Each time a mage gets the circles around them you have to use the Litany.

Once you make it up the Circle Tower, pass through the Fade and defeat Uldred, you'll be taken back down to talk to Greagor, the Templar leader.

If you side with the Templars, then by default you'll unlock the following achievement.

Dragon Age: OriginsAnnulment InvokerCandidFever3The Annulment Invoker achievement in Dragon Age: Origins worth 35 pointsSided with the templars in "Broken Circle"

For this one you have to make sure the mages stay alive during the battle with Uldred. During the fight, simply make sure to use the Litany of Adrella whenever the yellow circle appears at the bottom of a mage.

Then once you talk to Greagor, tell him the Circle is back in order. After he guarantees the Circle's support and you talk to Irving, you'll unlock this achievement.

Note: If you want to get "Traveler", you have to visit all locations on the Fade map.

To begin this quest, head to the Lake Calenhad Docks and take the ferry to Circle Tower. Once you get on the ferry, there's no turning back. You'll have to finish "Broken Circle". When you arrive at the tower, you'll find it in disarray and overrun by blood mages and demons. Fight your way to the top level of the Tower where you'll meet the Sloth Demon. On the first level of the Tower, you'll meet Wynne. You want her in your party. Here is where it gets interesting. You'll be sent into the Fade. There are a series of "stages" that you must complete. There are six with a demon that you must kill. Four of these also have dreaming Templars and Mages that will give you a Shapeshifting ability. After destroying these demons, you have to rescue the other three members of your party, then fight the Sloth Demon. Once you escape the Fade, then you have to face the blood mage that has overtaken the Tower. You'll meet an imprisoned Templar on the way up to the blood mage. He'll ask you to kill all of the Mages. Refuse him and elect to spare the mages.

During the fight, the blood mage will attempt to turn the other captured mages into sloth demons. If you don't use the Litany of Andraste to protect them, you could be unwittingly forced into Annulment Invoker if you're not careful. The Litany protects the mages and prevents the blood mage from corrupting them. Once the fight is done and you have rescued the Mages, return to the first floor of the Tower and say that the Mages are all safe. The Mages will then join your army as a result.

One Playthrough Method: At the imprisoned templar, make an additional save. On one, don't bother saving the mages. Reload and make sure all of the mages live. By choosing the Templars over the Mages, you'll lose Wynne. You want Wynne. Make sure she's with you.

To begin this quest, head to Lake Calenhad Docks and take a boat to the Circle Tower. Once you are on the boat, there is no turning back until the task is completed. Once in the tower, you learn that it has been captured by blood mages and the demons they summoned. Wunn will join you on the first floor. On the top floor you will meet the "Demon of Sloth" and fall into the "Shadow". You will need to go through a series of islands and kill a demon on each of them. To solve simple puzzles you will have to use the transformation abilities that various characters will teach you. Please note that if you want to get the “Traveler” achievement, you need to visit the secondary islands where your party members will be. If you save them, they will help you in the final battle against the demon. After defeating him, you will return to the real world. On the way to the top level of the tower you will meet a Templar prisoner. He will ask you to kill all the magicians in the tower, refuse him and agree to save the magicians.
During the final battle with the main blood mage and his demons, you need to use “Litany of Andraste” to protect the remaining mages from the actions of the blood mage and not prolong the battle, because otherwise you can get the “Annulment Invoker / Storm of the Mages” achievement instead this. When you defeat the main blood mage, return downstairs and report that the tower is again under the control of the magicians. In this situation, the magicians will join you in the final battle.
