How to unlock the Rock and a Hard Place achievement in Dragon Age: Origins - Definitive Guide

Not far into the game, you will make camp. Since downloading the DLC, you will have a quest called 'Sulcher's Pass', go to this location, talk the the person there to get 'The Golem in Honnleath' quest. Go to Honnleath, just follow the waypoints. Should be easy from there, I don't want to spoil it for anyone.. I couldn't see a way to fail the main mission here - the achievement popped either getting Shale to come with you, but by the time you leave the area

NOTE: If you unlocked the achievement before MS added it to the server (3-5 of November), like myself, it added the picture, but not the points..
If you are still affected by this, you need to recover your gamer profile, and redo the quest, whether that be a game save or new character

Same boat as well, I didn't find anything on the official forums either about this.

I do not know for sure if the update fixed everyones missing achievement as I am still missing mine for this after playing it on January 13th and receiving the title update.

My achievement unlocked as soon as the patch finished. perhaps clearing the cache, then re-patching the game, or playing through that mission again could sort it for you. Before the patch I had tried recovering my profile, with only removed the picture on the game card.. Though once or twice, I've had achievements 'forget' to unlock, and just had to go back to a previous save & redo that part..

Do you have the linked Bioware account? if not, I think maybe, clearing the cache & recovering your gamertag, not sure on the best order as I tried a couple of times before the patch, then attempting to unlock the achievement again, keeping a save before the quest, and/or speaking to Shale. let us know how it goes.

Just wondering why the map continues to show a golden location (i.e. one with a quest) even after I've added the golem to my team?

I am in the same boat as you. I got it before MS put it up and it says I have it on my Xbox but not online anywhere

Just found this thread: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/67/index/232913

"We are currently looking into how best to address the achievements issue. Microsoft didn't post the updated achievement list until Nov 6th, which was the European release date. Achievements unlocked before this date did not register on Xbox live for this reason. We have been investigating ways to address this with the current game and server systems but have been unsuccessful so far. We will likely need to release a title update to fix this issue, which will take a while as title updates needs to go through the standard certification process.

The good news is that the achievement unlocks did register properly on your EA profiles, so it looks like once the title update is available you'll automatically get the missing Xbox achievement unlocks."

Once you download and install, this will be added to your quest list. After the DLC is installed, a new location will appear in gold on your map. Head to this new location, Sulcher's Pass. You'll speak to a merchant who will tell you about a magic object and direct you to the town of Honnleath. After killing some Darkspawn, you'll find Shale in the center of the town. You'll have to find someone in the town to help you release him. Once you do, speak to Shale and accept him into your party.

After you download and install the Kamen Captive add-on, a new location “Sulcher's Pass” will appear on the global map, go there and talk to the merchant, he will give you a control stick for free and say that the golem itself is in the city of Honnlite. The rest is all about the plot.
