How to unlock the The Tourist achievement in Dragon's Dogma 2 - Definitive Guide

This achievement is for discovering and entering 50 dungeons (cave icons on your map). It doesn’t count for all locations.
To check your progress, pause the game, go to History > Adventure Logbook > Exploring the World and look for “dungeons discovered” at the very bottom line item.

A few really important things to note:
  • Dungeons appear on your mini map if you get close enough to them, BUT this DOES NOT count as discovering the dungeon. You have to physically walk inside the dungeon for it to count. You will know you have walked in far enough when the name of the dungeon appears on your screen.
  • The biggest signifier that you have gone in a dungeon for the first time is the name of the dungeon will appear in the CENTER of your screen telling you this is the first time you’ve been in it. If it’s a dungeon you have visited previously, once you go in far enough the name will appear above your mini map on the left side of your screen.
  • You DO NOT need to complete the entire dungeon for it to count. As long as you go in far enough to see the name appear that will count as a “discovered.”
Lastly, I would suggest using this map to track your progress and compare which locations are on your map versus not on your map. This is also very handy for collecting 80 seeker tokens: https://mapgenie.io/dragons-dogma-2/maps/world

Hope this helps!

This trophy is earned by discovering 50 caves.

You don't need to explore the entirety of a cave for it to count, you just need to enter the cave. You'll know if you've done it correctly because discovered caves will show on your map.

There are at least a handful more than 50 caves in the game so you may earn this trophy before you've discovered every cave.

Note: the 50 caves can be discovered across multiple playthroughs.

In NG+ the entire map is revealed but your undiscovered caves still won't appear on your map. This makes it easy to cross-reference your map with an all-caves map (available online).

The description is misleading because this only counts dungeons, especially caves.
Landmarks and similar locations wont count.
You can check your progress in the History tab in the menu.

I recommend to enter every single cave you come across in your game because this will not come naturally otherwise.

There's definitely closer to 60+. Some require side quest progress, or a class with a movement ability. I used this for dungeons and seeker tokens: https://mapgenie.io/dragons-dogma-2/maps/world

I believe there are exactly 50 you can find on the normal landmasses. I have a 51st from a dungeon that appeared as part of a quest. I assume there are a couple more in the endgame and postgame.

You don't need to actually go in the cave or dungeons. It counts as long as you get close enough for the name to show up on the map.

It definitely did not count the caves I didn't go into for me.
I had to get back to a bunch of caves I only passed by in New Game +

One thing to note is if you don’t know if you’ve gone in a cave yet, you can enter the cave and if the name of the cave appears in the center of your screen that means it’s a newly discovered cave/dungeon. If the name appears over your mini map on the left, that means it’s been discovered. This has been helpful as I have been traversing the map revisiting dungeons I wasn’t sure if I had gone in.

This will likely come as you play the game, as there are way more caves than are needed for the achievement. You do not need to traverse/explore the entire cave to get credit - simply going far enough in for the name to display is enough to get credit. You can get your current count in the Pause Menu by selecting History, then Adventure Logbook, and then Exploring the World. It's the last entry there.

You can also use the following map for all the locations: https://mapgenie.io/dragons-dogma-2/maps/world
