This achievement requires you to collect 1 million gold. You'll get this before you finish every tile in conquest mode (also an achievement) so you don't really need to worry.
If you absolutely need it ASAFP, though, you can play city unlock battles (the tiles next to a city that have a lock on them) as they require killing one general who will be very, very close to you at the start. You can end these missions in less than a minute and the ones with the higher difficulty give a lot of gold.
The town in the northwest corner and the southernmost town are probably the two best choices for this.
Note this is cumulative, and the limit on gold is 999,999. So spend that money freely and don't worry about it.

Thanks for the guide, knowing me I'd go crazy seeing it stuck at 999,999, seeing as how I havent spent any gold yet, just in case you had to have it all for it to pop. Positive vote given.
