How to unlock the Weapon Collector achievement in Dynasty Warriors 7 - Definitive Guide

To unlock all weapons, you will be required to play Conquest mode. Some of them can be found through Story mode, but only about 40%.

Defeating enemy officers, either in Story or Conquest, provides a chance to get a dropped weapon. This isn't required to get them all, because eventually any ones dropped this way can be purchased instead.

Each weapon type has one weapon which is unlocked through a Treasure Battle. These are actually called "Treasure Battle: X" with X saying the weapon type, and are indicated by a hex with a sword and thick lines coming out of it. This is different from the hexes that just show a sword, which reward a random weapon you don't already own but don't award the special weaopns.

Each weapon type also has one weapon which can only be purchased from the Merchant or Weapon Dealer. This weapon requires the Smithing skill, which only a handful of characters have. If you've completed the Story, Zhuge Liang and/or Guo Huai (the guy with the arm cannon) will probably have the skill already based on how many skill points you earned during the story. This means you will need to switch to character with the Smithing skill prior to entering the town.

There are three weapons (Spear, Sword and Twin Swords) which require special objectives:
Answer all scholar questions correctly
Unlock all capital cities in Conquest
Complete all battles in Conquest

Any weapon that doesn't require a special condition or a Treasure Battle can be purchased from the Weapon Dealer or Merchant. Keep in mind the Merchant offers a significant discount, but is not always available in town. Hovering over a town hex will indicate if the Merchant is in the town currently, and he only offers a random selection of 3 weapons at a time that you don't already own.

If you're not sure which weapons you're missing or still need, an easy way to check is to use the Gallery and check the Weapons category.

Just a little add to say this. To get the weapon from the scholar, you have to answer correctly to all this questions then ask at least 4/5 questions. Instead of giving you the money as usual, the scholar will give the Twin Sword weapon.

I can only assume you must gather the gold to buy all the weapons for them to be added to the gallery. Correct?
Also are certain weapons bound to certain stories? So if we couldn't afford it at the time do we have to go back through maybe the Wei story to get a certain weapon?

All weapons are available in Conquest mode, and you must get enough gold. You should have most of them by the time you finish Conquest mode, and the rest can be easily farmed by doing City battles.

For some reason I've completed every conquest mission, bought everything from the shops, answered all the questions and unlocked all capitals....I'm still missing the the last twin swords. Is that the one you're supposed to get by beating all the conquest battles? If so is there anything special I have to do to get it and what is the specific name of the weapon?

Did you try Elpanda feliz's comment? You need to answer 4/5 correct at the scholar AFTER getting all questions completed to get the final twin swords.

FYI. The last weapon you receive after completing all battles. This does not include legendary battle hexes apparently as I have just completed the last arrow hex with only a few legendary battles left and the achievement popped.

It is correct that hexes that just show a sword reward a weapon you don't already own, but this one is not random. I found out that hexes with a sword become hexes with an arrow the moment you buy the weapon you supposed to get there. This is more evident as such hexes become full yellow hexes when you complete them identical to completed sword hexes other than normal arrow hexes that remain arrow hexes. I hope you understand me =P
I wanted to be very clever and skipped every normal sword hex. I wanted to buy the cheap weapons first, so the sword battles would give me more expensive "random" weapons I do not own. Now I realized that one hex after the other has turned into an arrow.

Therefore, I would suggest completing every sword hex as soon as possible, if you want to save money.
