How to unlock the Card Collector achievement in Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce - Definitive Guide

This is almost guaranteed to be your last achievement for Dynasty Warrior, I got everything else and still had about 5 cards to go(more than it sounds like). What I recommend doing, for maximum efficiency is going to chapter 3 of anyone's campaign so you have the Nanman quest chain guy right in front of you. Talk to him, start a mission, and then return to city. Also installing the game to your HDD will shave about 6 or 7 seconds off of each startup -> surrender run. You have an increasingly small chance to get an officer card all the way up until the last one, it took me 3 hours to get the last 2, so you're going to want to maximize time by going to chapter 3.

Nevermind, Zhang Liao appeared as a card, whilst also being in my allied team.

How do you go back to Chapter 3 when you've beaten the entire story with all three factions?

Jesustapdacingchrist I hate this achievement. I only need ONE more card, bloody Lu Xun! I've been doing this method again over and over for nearly 5 hours now! BUT I WILL DO IT GAHHHHHHHH, JUST THIS ONE AND I'M FINISHED WITH ALL THE ACHIEVEMENTS!

This is probably an overdue, late comment but this achievement is completely random right? None of the playable officers are considered lucky right? I can't seem to get many officer cards from the "other" category like Diao chan, lu bu, or Dong Zhuo though I have managed to get yuan shao. + vote from me

Is it true that an officer who is currently in your allied team, or you are playing as, won't appear in your city as an officer card?

I'd say that helps a bit witwix. I was taking the time to run all the way to the board and then quit the mission I had accepted, but the Nanman quest warrior is way closer and shaves off about 10 seconds of tedious walk time.

Maybe it'll be more helpful if you would write about installing in your guide body, since not everyone read comments first. Anyway, good guide it is :)

holy crap I just got 3 cards in 20min. 2 to go. jesus loves me this i know, cause the bible tells me so. I'm sorry I apologize for that. blame the simpsons.
here is a pro tip for doing this method: use sun jian in his red outfit, equip a scimitar in normal mode. by doing this, you will have a very good defeat pose every time you surrender, which you may be doing hundreds of times.

i think this achievement/very tiring day has fried my brain. I am so sorry for this comment.

Great tip witwix-I've been trying to get this achievement for the longest yet still need 5 more. I was never sure if you could quite a stage and still get officer cards cause none visited when I had tried.

Finished this achievement today. With 9 left it ended up taking me a total of about... 3-4 hours. This method is ABSOLUTELY the best, I've heard reports of it taking upwards of 50 hours to snag those last few cards. This really cuts down the time.

this speeds things up quite a bit but I'm still banging my head into the wall hardcore and shooting hate lasers at this achievement. Went 35min straight of using this method with install without even seeing ANY officer last session I tried for cards. (I try to get one card a day or do this method for 25min after which I'll stop after any officer appears, card or not.) that's just my method. I haven't gotten a card in about a week and I have 5 left. I finished all the other achievements over a month ago, but G.D. it I want this one for completion not to mention the 1100 TA pts. Every time I sit there for 25min without getting a card I get closer and closer to jamming the disc back in the case and putting it at the bottom of my pile where it will never see the light of day again.

You get the Officer Cards by talking to officers in your base of operations. They appear randomly after battles/quests. They always stand in the middle of the city/village/castle.
For example If you see Huang Gai talk to him and he will give you his card if you see him a second time he will give you a small skill boost.
And yes officers who are in your current team still will come to give you their cards.

Officer cards are 100% random and there is nothing you can do to affect getting ones you need or don't need. Starting a stage and quitting back to town is the best way to accumulate them. I had to do it about 50 times to get the last couple I needed but it eventually happens.

Also, another tip. If you need one officer, make sure it isn't the one you are playing. Obviously they won't be in town if you are playing them. It sounds stupid, but I did this ~___~

Overall it took me 3 days to get Guan Ping to spawn. I ended up exiting and entering cities with one eye on the screen whilst I caught up on various TV series on the PC. I would put a conservative estimate at at least 15 hours after I had already done everything else.

Fucking Guan Ping.

Guide by Tyger7:
This is the hardest achievement in the game due to the randomness that officers appear. Once in a while after a mission, you will notice someone in your town that isn’t normally there. Go talk to them and they will either present you with a card, upgrade your skills by 1, or say something random. It took me hours upon hours to gain my last card. I will provide my theory in hopes that it will help you gain them all. It is my belief that the cards unlock while a certain faction is in a certain chapter completing missions in a specific campaign. Yeah, a lot, I know. So once you complete every mission and do everything in the game, pull up a word document. If you have a good memory, then do it by memory. Here is an example. Start on Chapter 1 of Wei, with a Shu Officer. Play all missions and hit start during them so you can return to city, ending in defeat. Do this until someone appears. If they give you a point into your weapon or say something random, go on to chapter 2. If you do get a card, keep doing this until someone appears that doesn’t give you one. Do this with every faction on every chapter. Wei on Wu, Wei on Wei, Wei on Shu, Wu on Wu, Wu on Wei, Wu on Shu, Shu on Wu, Shu on Wei, Shu on Shu. You should eventually find your missing cards. Let’s make sure you understand. Give up on missions with every faction on every chapter in every campaign until someone shows up. If they don’t give you a card, move on the next chapter. Once you get to chapter 6, move on to a faction you haven’t used yet. If you used the same character from the start on every chapter in every campaign, and you still don’t have that character’s card, it’s because you will not meet yourself in town (though you will in battle from time to time). I have no real way to double check this, except after 10-15 hours of straight quitting missions, I started changing my factions and saw 5 within 2 hours.

This is the most stressful of all the collection trophies. Officers will randomly appear in your city (next to the old man) and you need to talk to them to obtain their Officer Card. The chances and order of Officers appearing in your city is totally random, and sometimes an Officer whom you’ve already met will re-appear in your city.

I suggest leaving this trophy until you’re nearing the end of your 3rd faction. By then you should have about 60-75% of Officer Cards.

Start a quest and immediately pause the game and select “Return to City” and check if a new officer has appeared. Rinse and repeat to collect ‘em all.

There is a way to collect all the missing officer cards in 4-7 hours. It only works after going through all three companies - Wu, Shu and Wei.

Select as your main character any Wei officer whose card you already have, and go to the first chapter of Wei, enter any battle* and immediately exit back to the city. If the officer giving the cards does not appear in the city, or if there is one and you received the card, enter any battle again and return to the city. Continue until the officer who appears gives you nothing (neither a card nor +1 to skills), then go to the second chapter of Wei. Repeat everything in chapters 2-6 too, so you will collect all the cards from chapters 1-6 for Wei. Without changing your officer, go to chapters 1-6 Shu and 1-6 Wu, performing the same simple manipulations.
* There should be no additional characters with you!
Now take any officer from Wu whose card you already have, and repeat the same as with the officer from Wei (chapters 1-6 Wu, Shu and Wei). Next, take an officer from Shu, then from Others.
