You can start petting your Cubs on Day 4 when they leave the lair for the first time. To pet them, press
when you're standing next to them. Just remember to do this five days straight at any point between day four and day 23 to unlock the trophy. To make it easier on yourself, give them a snuggle first thing when you wake up so you don't forget. Also be sure to let the animation fully play out. If you touch any buttons or move the analog sticks, it'll cancel the snuggle and won't count for the trophy.
