How to unlock the Untouchable achievement in Enslaved: Odyssey to the West - Definitive Guide

After completing the game I went back and tried for this achievement during Chapter 1 and Chapter 3. Although I managed to complete both levels with no health damage, I could not get the achievement to unlock. I have seen others report the same problem.

I finally managed to get this achievement to unlock on Easy in Chapter 10 - my first try through. I can't figure out what was causing me problems with Chapters 1 and 3, but I recommend anyone else who is having similar issues to give 10 a try.

Two tips for Untouchable during Chapter 10:

1. During the fight with the Demolition Mech, I ran around and let Pigsy pick off the little mechs, only getting a few hits in when it was very safe to do so. You could probably just run the entire time if you wanted to play it safe. Once the 6 mechs that come out have been disposed of, it is pretty easy to taunt the Demo Mech and perform a takedown.

2. In the large open area where 4 mechs are in standby, you should enter with at least two plasma shots. You can line up one shot that kills the two mechs on the left side. Use the 2nd shot to hit the closer of the remaining mechs. The final one can be easily taken out by blocking him then attacking.

Those are the only two areas where you could have trouble. The rest of the level should be no problem.

UPDATE:

Thanks to Protium 38 for the following tip:

The "glitch" issue with the achievement appears to be related to (i) Chapter Select or (ii) past game save data.

To fix this, if you move your save game on to a USB and then start the with a fresh new save, it should pop after Chapter 1 without issue.

This worked for me the very first time (after playing quite a number of times before moving my save data to a USB).

I just did it i can confirm that if you get hit at any time during Mission. You can restart from last checkpoint and you will still get the achievement.

Can also confirm this after 'successful' attempts on levels 1 and 11 proved fruitless. Thanks for the heads up.

Retried level 3 this time. Got it whit no damage (I'm 10.000% sure!) and still no achievement popped?! Are there any other conditions that need to be met? :-(

Just ran through Chapter 10 & 11 and flawlessed them both. Didn't get awarded the achievement on either level, this achievement seems to be working on different chapters for different people. I've heard of people unlocking this on the first chapter.

I did the same thing - couldn't get it to unlock on Chapter 1; followed your Chapter 10 guide, and got it to unlock! This method makes it very easy since there are not many encounters with mechs in Chapter 10.

Many said you could do it in chapter 1, but I just had no luck with it, it glitched on me. But I got it on chapter 10 on my first go even with restarting from the last checkpoint at one point in the level. =3

Some suggest that if you don't get it on chapter 1, you can delete your save files and start fresh to get it that way, but I haven't tried that as I got it now by trying this method. x3 for anyone who are desperate. XD; Maybe test it on a alternative account with no enslaved save files before deleting any files on your main account =3

You don't actually have to move it to a USB - you can simply do 'New Game' instead of chapter select and do it in chapter 1.

I have tried to get this on Chapters 1, 9, and 11 and it wouldn't unlock. I tried again on Chapter 9 and this time I completed the chapter without using "restart from the last check point" in the pause menu. It finally unlocked.

Does starting a new game, rather than chapter select, reset all of your upgrades? I know you can keep them for chapter select, but I'm not sure about starting a new game.

Played the game 1x on hard. reloaded chapters on easy for collectibles and this achievement as needed. Did not switch save files or anything and got this achievement on 1st try on chapter 1 (on easy). Not bragging, just wanted to confirm 12/12/2013 without switching save files or anything. I am guessing that people who don't get the achievement are die and do not reload the checkpoints but instead get continued after the death.

I got it using keoskey's method. First I pressed start on the menu, then I selected my USB for storage. I then started a New Game. Anytime you think that you received damage, reload last checkpoint.

After also repeatedly attempting chapter one and three and being denied the achievement despite flawless runs, I can confirm that this works great. Just be careful around the demolition mech and the level is a breeze.

Didn't work for me on level 1 either. Maybe because in that level you don't have a health bar yet? Tried second level too, but didn't work either. Maybe because you start that level with health damage? Will probably try chapter 10 next since I hear this seems to work for most people.

Got it first time on chapter 10, reloaded a checkpoint only once... p.s. the Demolition mech can be taken out pretty easily, shoot it once with a stun blast, and then shoot it in the face with the plasma blast until it goes berserk, then taunt it and after it hits the wall you can take it down immediately (on easy). You should be able to do this before the other mechs even show up. not my video, but it shows how to do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v...

after 4 runs through the first lvl and not getting the achieve, by replaying the lvl, i did the suggestion and moved the save and started from the beginning with no upgrades. i got passed all the parts that could do damage to you. was right at the end when u have to jump up to the top before u hit the tower. got to the top and the fkn game glitches and kills me....(cleared it and was on the way up the next pipe before iit even hit the tower) i then had to leave and delete the save and start again. this game straight sucks balls. save yourself the stress, weakest of sauces. After going through again i got the chieve. thanks for the advice

@ the last comment, pretty sure the people describing their frustrations are not all noobs who cant tell when their screen flashes red or they die and are probably equally annoyed as i am right now. since i just woke my wife up cussing at the tv

Your best bet to do this is probably in chapter 1 on Easy or Normal. If you take any damage (screen turns red starting at the borders) hit start and reload the last checkpoint. You may have to do some parts over as checkpoints generally happen during a cut scene. You can skip a cut scene with the back button.

Learning to dodge the enemies is one thing, but the jump past the burning turbine is another. You need to start your run to towards it just before the flames end, then hop across and immediately jump again. With a bit of luck you won't need to go back to the checkpoint and fight the outside mechs again.

I made this achievement in the chapter where you fight the rhino in easy is much better and is very short this chapter, only to dodge all rhino charge attacks and finish it, is all it is easy, of course you must chase rhino well you don't lose any health doing that...i think this is the short way to get it

Worked fine on chapter 1, easy setting, for me. You do have to watch out for a couple of fires in the environment that will damage you if you touch them.

for some reason I needed to do these like 8 times... eventualy with only having to reload the fireball from the engine checkpoint so to speak. But chapter 1 is the easiest to do this on...

Just got it after reading all the solutions on here. What worked for me:
New game - Chapter 1 - Easy
Use Block with the shield before each attack on a mech.
When the 3 mechs come for you together outside the plane, run past them and climb the pole.
With the flame/fireball from the engine that follows, simply keep pushing against the edge of the platform you need to jump over (the flame won't hurt you). When the flame stops, keep spaming jump button and you will slyly jump, roll and jump without any damage.
If you see the red borders on the screen, reload last checkpoint.
Nice 50G!

I got this by starting a new game on Chapter one on Easy, and I had to restart checkpoint due to a loading issue screwing up my view and not being able to move.

For those who used chapter select and didn't get it, I recommend starting a new game instead.

Positive vote.

The battle with the three outside mechs (on the wing of the slave transport) can be avoided altogether on EASY Mode. As soon as the cinema alerting you to the mechs presence finish playing, run back across the pipe that you ran on to get to the wing the mechs are on. The mechs cannot follow you back across the beam, and will just wind up pacing to and fro across the wing they are on. As soon as the three of them are farthest from you on the wing, run back up the pipe, and dodge around them on the wing, and quickly proceed along the wing segments as you normally would toward the ship. The mechs will give chase, so once you are at the ship, jump to the next wing. Once there, grab hold of the handhold outside the ship, and pull yourself up out of their melee combat range. After this point, the three mechs will stop chasing you, and you can proceed with the rest of the level as normal. Easy peasy!

I can confirm that this can be done at Chapter One. I did it on Easy. It is tricky because you don't have shields or a health bar yet, but if you are careful and pay attention, it can be done. I can also confirm that you will get it even if you have to restart from a checkpoint. The difficulty on this chapter is that it is hard to tell if you have taken any health damage.

I've done it from a New Game and Chapter Select. I recommend, as stated in other solutions, that you copy your current game save to another device and start a New Game just to eliminate any possibility of the Chapter Select glitch that others have reported.

Some points to note:
- if you see ANY red (damage in the rest of the game, like when you get swatted by a demolition mech), you have failed. Restart from the last checkpoint.
- WATCH for on screen prompts and follow them! You won't be damaged at these times if you do them properly.
- multiple mechs are easy to dispatch using BLOCK (RT) and WIDE attack (X+A) to seperate them, then take them down one at a time. On EASY, the mechs you aren't currently attacking don't appear to attack you.
- the hardest section is jumping past the burning turbine. If you don't get the timing right here, you fail and the achievement won't pop.

OK, lets get started.

When you encounter the first mech (after retrieving your staff), the screen will prompt you that your shields will
automatically block his shots for a short time. You need to RUSH this guy. I ran around the first batch of crates to the
second set of crates on your right. Wait a second or two and then RUSH the mech - you will not be damaged if you do this quickly. Then follow the onscreen prompts to take the mech down. First encounter down. Again, if you were damaged at all here (red on the edges of the screen), restart from the last checkpoint and try again.

Checkpoint after this encounter.

Second enounter with mechs: You will be walking by the mechs hanging from the ceiling. The camera angle will change here, when it does, stay to the LEFT (so you can't be cornered later and step into or be backed into the fire on the right!). A combat mech will drop down and you need to dispatch this guy. Block it (RT) then take it down. Another will appear behind you - dispatch it like the first but don't get backed into the fire!

Two more mechs will drop down. Follow the onscreen prompt to evade and then use your X and Y to take them out one at a time. If they swarm you - EVADE and BLOCK else one will whack you in the back and you'll take damage.

You run down the corridor and through two doors to meet two more mechs. Here you learn the WIDE attack (X+A). USE IT to seperate the mechs and then take them out one at a time. No fire or other issues to be aware of there to take damage from during this encounter. Remember, block them until they get close, use the wide attack to seperate them and then take them down one at a time. Evade if they surround you.

A single mech will drop down next. Here you learn the STUN CHARGE attack. If you follow the onscreen prompt, you'll take this guy down without issue.

Checkpoint after this encounter.

Run towards the two doors and you'll end up outside where Trip is holed up behind a locked door that you want to get into. You can't get past this door and need to climb around the outside of the ship to get to an escape pod.

When you get to the point where you have to cross a pipe, three mechs will appear from the fuselage. You can start attacking the first guy right away but the other two get there pretty fast. Put up your BLOCK then use your WIDE attack to seperate them all. Then go after them one at a time. I found this strategy to work best with these mechs, otherwise they will surround you, but once you seperate them, they don't appear to attack you while you are attacking another.

No checkpoint yet.

Here is where it gets super tricky. You must get past a flaming jet turbine without taking any damage. The timing must be just right else you will take damage. Once you climb down and around the ship and onto the wing just in front of the flaming turbine - hold up! I must have done this a dozen times before I made it without taking damage... I waited about half-way between the fuselage and the end of the wing where the flame from the turbine blows through. Just before the turbine stops blowing flames, RUN to the end of the wing and JUMP. You MUST jump far enough to land standing up on the next platform. If you don't jump far enough and have to pull yourself up onto this platform, you will take damage. If you made it to the next platform standing up, KEEP RUNNING and jump to the next platform before the engine starts again. IF you do this right, you will JUST make it to this platform as the engine starts up. There will be flames behind you - if your screen doesn't have any RED (damage), you made it! (If you start too close to the flames, you can't jump far enough. If you start too far way from the flames, you won't be able to make the second jump in time...)

No checkpoint yet, so keep moving. After you fling the door into the engine and set the transport into an even worse trajectory there will be a checkpoint. You'll need to move fast here so that you don't die when the wing hits the building that is coming up but I believe that you'll just get to retry it again from the checkpoint without a damage penalty (I cannot verify this as I didn't have any problems getting past this point during my runs to get this achievement).

From here, its a timed run to get to the escape pod. No more parts where you can take physical damage. After the cutscene you should see the achievement pop.

Good Luck!

I did this on chapter 11 without any problem at all

The first section with all the shooting should be no problem, play on easy (ofc), max out stats helps with shield regen etc. Just take it easy and let the shield fully reload at all times. Pick up as much ammo as possible for the next section.

The second section when you need to fight 4 "sleeping" mechs is a cakewalk aswell. Just be sure to shoot the shielded one with some stun ammo first. Then just walk backwards as you are spamming thoose plasma shots out!

The third section is the best part, as you probably already done the "Matador" achievement. Just beat the Rhino without getting hit (if you get hit, reload last checkpoint. I did this in my acctual achievement run and got the achievement, np) and the Rhino chase should be easy aswell as you´ve probably got that achievement already aswell ;)

Ez!

Okay, so I did this on Chapter 2. If you don't already have it, then you will obviously also get the 'Invincible' achievement at the same time.

Things to remember:

1. Do it on Easy. (obvious)

2. When fighting Mechs (there aren't many times you will have to on this level.) then put your shield up (RT) when they attack you. When they stop attacking you will have a second or two to charge your stun attack (hold X). Now attack them and they will be stunned. This elimates any possibility of them counter attacking you. You will have mastered this technique if you have already played through on Hard.

3. If you collect and save plasma where you can then you should have 4 when you meet the final boss - The Demolition Mech. If you keep these and headshot him then you can keep a safe distance from him without needing to actually come in contact with him. He needs to be hit and then taunted into hitting the statue 3 times.

4. If you accidentally take any damage then simply press the start button and restart from the last checkpoint. I can confirm that the achievement will definitley still pop if you do this as I had to on 2 occasions.

The achievement will unlock as soon as you have defeated the Demolition Mech.

For an easy time with this trophy, replay a chapter using Chapter Select on Easy difficulty.

This trophy is easiest to earn in Chapter 1 since its a quick and easy stage with relatively low enemies. Remember bullets always take off your shield before it does so to your health. Melee attacks always take off health except when you block. Also note that stepping in fires and getting hit by the engines also counts as getting hit.

Since some people have been reporting that the trophy isn't unlocking them for Chapter 1, try it again on Chapter 6 (like I suggested for Invincible) or on Chapter 9 (suggested by Mitsuru Kirijo). In Chapter 9, you can defeat all of the enemies from range using Stun Blasts and Plasma Shots. It is worth mentioning that the damage you receive when you're on the boat does not count as damage done to Monkey.

Again, similar to Invincible, restarting a checkpoint also works. Just make sure that if you get hit, restart your checkpoint quickly so a save doesn't occur.

can be obtained right at the first level, only when you jump on the wings of an airplane, if fire touches you, then immediately reload from the checkpoint

Premium Edition, copy the save to a flash drive, erase the old one. Restarting checkpoints works if you receive damage. I got it this way the first time, before that I passed it three times on the old save without damage - they didn’t give me the trophy.

I had a glitch with this trophy. I went through the 1st chapter several times at all difficulty levels, and the 3rd several times. I am sure that I did not lose my health, but the trophy did not open. It turned out that some players (it’s not clear what it depends on) experience a glitch when using Chapter Select. In this case, it helps to delete the old save game (it’s better, of course, to copy it and return it later). After deleting, we start the game again and get in the first chapter.
