One effortless way of doing this is by making Ramen Delivery jobs for Kato Palace in Prescott Starbase, Union area.
This job can be repeated as soon as you finish it, takes about 2 minutes each and you don't have to sit through loading screens. Just remember to claim the reward as it won't show up again until then.
There might be a way to further speed this up: If you complete one of three deliveries and your drone is destroyed, you get full reward. The problem is that damage from collisions is very low and there might not be enemies around to destroy your drone...

Another commenter mentions it on another solution but you *MUST* wait until you see "Claim Reward" comes up on a banner across your screen. Enter the menu and claim before this and you don't get the renown rewards. Lost about 2k of renown before I noticed this wasn't increasing.

You get reduced renown when you destroy a drone so better to just complete the missions normally.

The only way to gain renown is to grind out jobs.
It won't take too long, 10 hours maybe. But you will make money and get items.
It took me 71 jobs to reach max renown.
You can grind them all out in the first system if you want, but you probably want to spread them out. In the second system, there is a secondary mission that requires you to do a number of jobs. Around 12. I lost count. (various side mission, with the Kato Clan)

It took me 96 jobs to get this. I noticed towards then end I wasn't getting 220 renown after completing jobs. I think it was because I was claiming the rewards from the menu before the dialogue had finished. I suggest waiting until claim rewards pops up on the screen to claim.
